Verdict

TAN looked ahead of his mark when beating a competitive field at Thirsk on Saturday and this four-year-old remains open to further improvement on his third start for Mick Appleby. He has gone up 11lb since joining this stable in the last few weeks, but looks capable of more success in this basement grade. Majorette makes some appeal on handicap debut for Brian Barr off a mark of 62, while Waneen and Hurricane Alert are other names to note.

Verdict

TAN has won both his starts this month in convincing fashion and can make it 3 from 3 for this yard. Waneen ran his best race for a while when scoring at Lingfield and is next best ahead of 3-time C&D winner Mighty Zip.

Verdict

FOIE GRAS returned to form when fourth at Wolverhampton two starts ago and backed that up when second at the same venue last month. A return to a track where he has won three times in the past will suit and the veteran can strike, with Lewis Edmunds' valuable 3lb claim fancied to prove the difference. Pass The Cristal has gone well after a break before and is nicely drawn, while King of Dreams also merits consideration on his all-weather return.

Verdict

FOIE GRAS wasn't ideally placed when just failing at Wolverhampton last time and is taken to make amends. King of Dreams starts the season off a career-low mark and may emerge as the biggest threat ahead of Muhajjal.

Twice-raced maiden. 66/1, thirteenth of 16 in minor event at Lingfield (7f, good to firm) 13 days ago.

Verdict

Rapier ran well at Yarmouth last month and could progress further for Sir Michael Stoute, while Employer built on a promising all-weather third last year when winning at Windsor over this trip 17 days ago. Team Decision will need to take a big step forward from his debut so it could be worth siding with WAFY. Deemed good enough to run in Group 3 company the last twice, this drop class (and trip from last time) should see the juvenile conditions stakes winner bounce back to form.

Verdict

WAFY didn't cut much ice in Group 3s at Newmarket and Sandown 6 months apart but sets a useful standard at this much lower level and can defy a penalty. Qawamees shaped very well when runner-up at Nottingham on his debut in November and is feared most.

Verdict

Roger Varian inmate KAWASIR arguably posted his best effort yet when second over the extended mile at Wolverhampton last time and could feasibly take a hand if running to a similar level of form on his handicap bow. A first-time tongue-tie could spark immediate improvement from Capla Jaipur, who went close in a novice race over C&D latest, while Bullingdon is open to more improvement over a mile and could also feasibly take a hand.

Verdict

BULLINGDON resumed his progress when chasing home a promising sort at Windsor earlier this month and can go in at the first time of asking in handicap company. Capla Jaipur and Kawasir look the most likely dangers.

Six wins from 22 Flat runs. Very good second of 9 in handicap at Wolverhampton (12.2f, 11/1) 24 days ago, clear of rest. Likely to find life tougher in this grade, though. 2 lb out of the weights.

Verdict

FRONTISPIECE shaped with plenty of promise when second over 1m2f at Doncaster in April and is entitled to strip fitter with the benefit of that run now behind him. Secret Art has been handed a 3lb rise for scoring over 1m here in April and has place claims if his stamina holds out. A bigger danger to the selection, however, may be recent Chester second Dark Red, who has winning C&D form in the book and was placed in the Balmoral off this mark last year.

Verdict

FRONTISPIECE has some strong-looking form to his name last term and shaped well on his return at Doncaster last month. He makes plenty of appeal. Course winners Dark Red and Secret Art may give him most to think about.

Improved on recent efforts to win 6-runner handicap at Catterick (7f, good) 10 days ago. 6 lb penalty to carry now but expected to go well again. Makes polytrack debut.

Verdict

YEAH BABY YEAH carries a 6lb penalty for her York success last week, but that may not be enough to stop her following up that cozy victory with the in-form Silvestre De Sousa retaining the ride. Brockholes is another to win on her most recent start, hanging on bravely at Catterick, while course and distance winner Toy Theatre is another to note having caught the eye when third at Doncaster latest.

Verdict

Slight preference is for BROCKHOLES, who is reportedly in foal and got back to winning ways at Catterick earlier this month. C&D winner Toy Theatre is next best.
