Won Irish point on debut in April 2016 and made quite an encouraging start over hurdles when 21¼ lengths fourth of 6 to Vinndication in Ascot novice in January. Should improve.

Verdict

Poetic Rhythm has some fair form in the book and should find this better ground in his favour after finishing 10th in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle last month, while Diese Des Bieffes was fifth in the same event and deserves plenty of respect for Nicky Henderson. Onefortheroadtom beat Aintree Grade 1 winner Lalor back in October and merits respect on that form, but this might go the way of CAPTAIN CATTISTOCK. Paul Nicholls' charge has enjoyed a progressive season, winning three times at Wincanton, and has Sam Twiston-Davies back on board for the first time since October.

Verdict

DIESE DES BIEFFES brings solid handicap form to the table and can add to Nicky Henderson’s good record in this race. Silver Kayf shouldn’t be overlooked, as he knuckled down well to see off a useful rival at Ludlow, and should be seen to good effect again on ground that suits. Theclockisticking and Captain Cattistock are a couple of others to consider.

Revitalised by a change of yards when easily scoring at Fakenham on belated return and career best to score there last month but likely to find this too competitive from 8 lb out of the weights.

Verdict

Harry Fry has won this prize for the last two years and relies on ART OF PAYROLL this time. The nine-year-old has just his third start for this yard and looks to be of interest after a wind operation and a 217-day absence. This decent ground and trip should suit and this trainer can ready one after a long absence. Kalondra drops back into handicap company after being outclassed in the Scilly Isles Novices' Chase at Sandown back in February, while Go Conquer is generally a good jumper and should go well. Frodon has a big weight to carry but should run his usual honest race under Bryony Frost.

Verdict

Plenty to consider but it could be worth chancing RAMSES DE TEILLEE, who looked a big threat before fading in the Ultima Handicap at the Festival last month, and the drop back in trip could be a wise move. Frodon defied top weight in impressive fashion in a similar event over C&D in December and has to be respected, while Neil Mulholland holds a strong hand with Kalondra and Shantou Village.

Verdict

Mister Miyagi has a decent record at this venue and was deemed good enough to run in the International Hurdle and Coral Cup here on his last two starts for Dan Skelton. It is worth checking the betting on stable bow for Stuart Edmunds after a 399-day absence, while similar sentiments apply to Lisheen Prince, who has his first start for Olly Murphy after leaving Philip Hobbs. The latter looks open to much improvement, but looks short enough in the betting having not been seen on a racecourse since December 2016. Verni showed some unlikeable tendencies when second at Catterick last time and this contest could be perfect for STICK TO THE PLAN. He has been waiting for quicker ground for quite some time and, with first-time cheekpieces on, a mark of 122 looks there to be taken advantage of.

Verdict

STICK TO THE PLAN remains with potential and shaped well back from 3 months off at Kempton in March. He could be the way to go now fitted with cheekpieces. Dangers are plentiful in this big field, chief among them Honest Vic, Lisheen Prince and Destiny's Gold.

Verdict

WINTER LION had a nice pipe-opener for this test when fourth in the Grand Military Gold Cup at Sandown last month and looks poised to get much closer to Baden (first) this time round. The eight-year-old was third behind Monbeg Notorious at Punchestown in December and only a couple of lengths behind the talented Brio Conti at Carlisle back in November. That form stacks up and a 7lb drop from the assessor down to a mark of 122 gives him a great chance here under Paddy Brennan. Red Infantry won a weak race at Warwick last time out, although he is related to Grand National winner Red Marauder and could improve given time.

Verdict

SAM RED came back to form when runner-up at Fakenham 11 days ago and returns to handicap company off a reduced mark. Baden and Red Infantry are chasers on the upgrade and are obvious threats.
