Verdict

Benechenko has proved frustrating to follow so far over hurdles and arrives with a bit to prove after finishing second when heavily backed in a weaker race at Bangor last time out. The booking of Bryony Frost takes the eye, but preference here is for RHAEGAR. Six lengths behind the progressive White Moon last month, the six-year-old stayed on well and looks poised to relish this step up in trip. Natter Jack Croak could prove good enough for third.

Verdict

RHAEGAR was a well-backed winner of his only start in bumpers and shaped promisingly on his respective hurdles bow at Exeter last month, jumping safely and ultimately keeping on well for second. With better to come upped in trip, he earns the vote. Benechenko promises to be suited by this sort of test and is feared most ahead of Natter Jack Croak.

Verdict

CHOOSEYOURWEAPON showed a good attitude when winning on his debut under Rules for Evan Williams over course and distance four weeks ago and could prove capable of defying a penalty. The 210,000 pounds purchase idled in front last time, but is likely to have learnt from the experience and can hold off the likes of Golden Sunrise, who looks a fair long-term prospect for Colin Tizzard, and Mance Rayder, who is surely better than he showed at Exeter recently.

Verdict

Expensive point recruit CHOOSEYOURWEAPON made the perfect start to his Rules career in a C&D maiden last month, and with plenty of improvement on the cards, is expected to successfully defy a penalty. Golden Sunrise is the obvious form danger, while The Last of Them may leave his bumper run well behind.

Verdict

ICE COOL CHAMPS was impressive when scoring by six lengths over hurdles at Uttoxeter and is backed to follow up here despite the stiff opening chase mark he has been handed. Billy Bronco was well beaten on his chasing bow but has to be respected at a track his handler often does well at, while Scotchtown and Walt are others who are capable of being competitive with slight improvement here.

Verdict

ICE COOL CHAMPS took another step forward given a longer trip when scoring over hurdles at Uttoxeter last month and he's a most interesting chase debutant now. Scotchtown and Walt may emerge as the chief threats, granted the benefit of previous experience.

Ended his time with A. J. McNamara out of form, and has fared no better on first 2 starts for his new yard. Others preferred.

Verdict

Supreme Steel has not been out of the top two in three starts since joining Dr Richard Newland in the summer and is likely to be involved once again here. However, preference is for PRESENT TIMES, who returned in winning fashion at Exeter to land a hat-trick and he looks a soft ground specialist who could excel here and continue his progression. Zanstra is respected, but will need to sharpen up his jumping, while Souriyan and Steel Summit are others to consider.

Verdict

PRESENT TIMES is firmly on the upgrade as he picked up where he left off last season to complete a hat-trick at Exeter last month. He remains unexposed over this trip and will continue to give a good account. Souriyan had his winning run ended in the Silver Trophy last time, but that form has been boosted since, while The Boss’s Dream is a likeable and genuine sort who relishes these conditions.

Verdict

BINGE DRINKER was last seen beating the top-class Might Bite in a Ffos Las novice chase in November last year and he has subsequently left Rebecca Curtis and joined Paul Nicholls. The 398-day break is an obvious concern but he could be thrown in off his current mark, especially with Bryony Frost's valuable 5lb claim. Buywise ran well over 3m1f at the Cheltenham Festival last season and he would have needed his seasonal return last month. Others to consider are Ballycross, Bob Ford and Wild West Wind.

Verdict

Former stablemates BINGE DRINKER and Bob Ford make the most appeal. The latter will relish conditions but Binge Drinker remains a smart chaser in the making on debut for Paul Nicholls despite seeming fragile. Wild West Wind remains unexposed as a second-season chaser and looks best of the others.

Verdict

Nansaroy was still in contention for minor money when unseating his rider at Chepstow last time and commands respect off an unchanged mark, though marginal preference is for ROCKNROLLRAMBO, who has landed minor money over longer distances the last twice and may benefit from this drop back in trip. Lord Bryan may improve for the fitting of a first-time tongue-tie and could also take a hand.

Verdict

LONGTOWN was pulled up on his first start over fences last month, but he’s a chaser on looks and is taken to leave that form well behind. Lord Bryan appears as the type to progress and win races in this sphere, while Nansaroy’s mark has gradually slipped and his best efforts entitle him to plenty of respect.

Verdict

Tom George has done well with his bumper performers at Chepstow in recent seasons and he saddles two here with MZUZU and Needs Further. Preference goes to the former as he has point-to-point winning form and he may just prove more streetwise than the latter. Blue Flight has also won a point and is respected for Nigel Twiston-Davies, while the booking of Richard Johnson on The Cannister Man looks notable.

Verdict

Tom George is 5 wins from 8 runners with newcomers in bumpers during the last 12 months so MZUZU and Needs Further merit serious consideration, the former preferred before market clues. Point-winner Blue Flight is another likely type.
