Verdict

The one they all have to beat is BRICK BY BRICK, who arrives here with an official rating of 87 following multiple placed efforts to date. The son of Big Bad Bob has only been narrowly denied in his last couple of starts and he is taken to provide his supporters with some valuable compensation this afternoon. Realtin Geal could prove to be the main danger down in trip today, while Betsey Trotter and Rockafilly are a pair of interesting newcomers.

Verdict

BRICK BY BRICK is becoming somewhat expensive to follow but went mighty close to opening his account at Naas 18 days ago, and more of the same here may well be good enough. Market support for Dermot Weld's newcomer, Betsey Trotter would put a different complexion on things, however.

Foaled April 29. 120,000 gns foal, 140,000 gns yearling. Half-brother to several winners, including very smart 6f winner Lightning Moon. Plenty of appeal on paper and big shout on debut.

Verdict

Swiss Cottage made a promising start to his racing when a staying-on fifth over 7f here and he can improve for this step up in trip, while Mendelssohn is expected to leave his debut eighth well behind representing the stable that won this race in both 2014 and 2016. Andesh is sure to have plenty of supporters given his connections and warrants respect, but a chance is taken on another newcomer in THE KING. The 140,000gns purchase is certainly bred to have plenty of ability, being a half-brother to five winners including Group 3 scorer Lightning Moon, and an entry in next year's Epsom Derby suggests that he's been burning up the gallops at home.

Verdict

THE KING makes plenty of appeal on paper and could be another winning newcomer for Jessica Harrington. Swiss Cottage and the $3 million colt Mendelssohn should both build on their debuts and are respected, while Andesh is another interesting debutant.

Verdict

Ballydoyle's SIZZLING brings both the most experience and best form into this contest and the Newmarket second, who also placed over this course and distance on debut, can get off the mark at the fourth attempt here. Aidan O'Brien also saddles a second daughter of Galileo in Bye Bye Baby, who looks sure to put in a professional performance on debut, while Muirin looks another newcomer worthy of a second glance.

Verdict

SIZZLING looks sure to win races and can make it fourth time lucky here. Stablemate Bye Bye Baby is a fascinating newcomer and it will be interesting to see how she fares in the betting. Muirin is another likely type on debut.

Further improvement when winning the Anglesey over an extended 6f here last month under this rider, looking more straightforward. This is tougher.

Further improvement when winning the Anglesey over an extended 6f here last month under this rider, looking more straightforward. This is tougher.

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien has won seven of the last 10 renewals of this prestigious juvenile dash, including each of the last three, so his Norfolk winner Sioux Nation, who was a distance winner at Cork in May, commands the utmost respect. However, Gordon Elliott's BECKFORD has left a deep impression in winning twice over C&D this term, including in the Railway Stakes last time, and is taken to complete a hat-trick. Romanised is a potential dark horse in the line-up, having been denied a clear run when seventh in the Coventry, and is also worth a market check.

Verdict

Hard to get away from BECKFORD, who could end the season as one of the leading 2-y-os in Ireland and can take his record to 3 from 3 here. Aidan O'Brien has won this 15 times and Sioux Nation looks the pick of the Ballydoyle quartet. Romanised shaped well in the Coventry and looks one to consider at a bigger price.

2 wins from 3 runs this year. 4/1, career best when winning 11-runner handicap at this course (5f, heavy) 64 days ago, well on top finish. Cracking weight-carrying performance there and respected.

Verdict

A very competitive renewal of this race but it does appear to be an ideal opportunity for WASHINGTON DC to get back to winning ways. The son of Zoffany is a four-time Listed winner but he has made the frame in multiple Group 1 events, including when beaten by less than a length in Prix de l'Abbaye last October. It should also be noted that he has run well in all three starts at this track. Mr Scarlet put in a career best in the Commonwealth Cup and he is open to further improvement being just a three-year-old. Others to note include Kimberella, Mr Lupton and Son Of Rest.

Verdict

WASHINGTON DC is turned out quickly after his run in the King George at Goodwood but shaped as if back in form in first-time blinkers and can land a first Group race here. Son of Rest produced a cracking weight-carrying performance when winning a 5f handicap in the mud here in June and has to be respected. Kimberella looks the pick of the English raiders.

Verdict

Aggression has struck the crossbar on his last couple of starts and looks sure to be in the thick of the action again, while Flawlessly looked a good purchase at 8,000gns following her Redcar success and can hopefully show up well first time out for these connections. The vote, however, goes to Willie McCreery's SNOWSTAR. The Raven's Pass filly has either won or placed in each of her five starts so far this year and, with Nathan Crosse taking a handy 4lb off her back, she could emerge triumphant for the second time.

Verdict

AGGRESSION arrives on the back of a pair of solid runner-up efforts, squeezed out late on at Navan 4 weeks ago, but ultimately suggesting his mark is a workable one. He earns the vote to deservedly regain the winning thread. Snowstar and Accalia are others to consider.
