Verdict

CHEBSEY BEAU arrives here just 1lb above his last winning mark and his third-placed finish here last month offers plenty of encouragement for his chances today. Perla Blanca finished second under this rider at Ayr on her debut for this yard and she should be in the mix once again this afternoon. The shortlist is completed by Sunrize and Tyrell.

Verdict

TYRELL was no match for a well-treated pair at Pontefract last month, but that form has a solid look to it and he ought to go close dropping in class now. Chebsey Beau is feared most ahead of Sunrize, who could benefit from this step up in trip.

Verdict

Hafeet Alain and I'm Billy Murphy have both displayed promise already on the track but they may be vulnerable to some very well-bred newcomers this afternoon. FOUR MILE BRIDGE is the first foal out of a mare who was second in the Albany at Royal Ascot as a juvenile and he cost connections 100,000gns as a yearling. Even more expensive was Alkaamel, who cost 250,000gns and is a half-brother to this year's Musidora winner Give And Take. Fume is a son of Frankel and his dam was twice placed at Listed level as a two-year-old and went on to win the Fred Darling at three.

Verdict

Some interesting newcomers on show in this maiden, including LEROY LEROY who represents a powerful 2-y-o yard and earns the tentative selection before market clues. Fume and Alkaamel are a couple of others to note.

Clear promise both starts last year without looking the finished article. Remains capable of better.

Clear promise both starts last year without looking the finished article. Remains capable of better.

Verdict

AKBAR SHAH took a big step forward to finish second at Windsor last month and that form has been boosted with the winner running very well in a handicap subsequently. He could get the better of Agadeer, who found an experienced rival too good on her debut at Hamilton and she should be in the mix once again today. Poppy Love and Zip Along also merit a place on the shortlist.

Verdict

ZIP ALONG showed clear promise both starts last year, and given she looked far from the finished article there should be plenty more to come from her this term. Akbar Shah was much improved when second at Windsor last time and looks the main threat.

Lightly-raced maiden. 6/4, very good second of 7 in handicap at Leicester (8.2f, good to firm) 14 days ago, no match for winner. Steadily going the right way and one to be interested in.

Verdict

CULDROSE is a progressive filly who filled second place at Leicester last time out and she can go one better off a 4lb higher mark this afternoon. Affina has yet to run up to her juvenile form so far in 2018 but she has dropped to an interesting mark as a result. Litigation pulled her chance away at Goodwood when last seen but is a player based on her previous run at Sandown.

Verdict

CULDROSE is in good hands and steadily going the right way so could be set to break her duck. Litigation and Melodies both remain with potential and are feared.

Won at Catterick in May. Good second of 5 in handicap at Carlisle (5f, good, 4/1) 5 days ago, slowly away. This looks a slightly better race, but holding form well overall.

Verdict

LAITH ALAREEN has improved his form since returning to turf on a sounder surface with two victories at Redcar, the latter of those being more impressive as he won by four lengths, and he can prove more than capable of defying a 10lb rise in the weights. Iconic Knight has been in good form recently and arrives on the back of a win at Newbury, for which he escapes a penalty due to that being an apprentice contest, while Young Tiger is considered on his second at Wetherby last month.

Verdict

ICONIC KNIGHT had a bit in hand when scoring at Newbury last week and looks capable of following up from the same mark. Laith Alareen is in excellent heart so needs taking seriously in his pursuit of the hat-trick, while Young Tiger is another to consider after he was left with too much to do at Wetherby recently.

Lightly-raced maiden. 17/2, thirteenth of 16 in maiden at Newbury (10f, good to firm) 55 days ago (reportedly losing his action). Previous promise well worth remembering now handicapping.

Verdict

SUPERNOVA built on two promising efforts last season when winning a maiden on his return at Goodwood last month, when shaping as though further would suit, and the extra furlong here on his handicap debut can bring about further improvement. Coolongolook was disappointing when prominent in the market for a maiden at Newbury behind Al Muffrih but is capable of better in handicap company, while Past Master could potentially kick on having won at Goodwood last time.

Verdict

SUPERNOVA continued his theme of race-by-race progress when making it third time lucky at Goodwood on his return and his opening handicap mark looks a feasible one. Past Master has got back on the up this term and is feared, whilst Coolongolook remains the type to do better now handicapping as his stamina is drawn out.

Verdict

POYLE CHARLOTTE was inconvenienced by rearing up in the stalls at Kempton before running on well to finish second to Vixen. The daughter of Farrh went up 2lb for that effort and she can build on that effort with her appearing to have plenty more to offer. Sugar Coating has a first-time hood which needs to relax her after her antics at Chelmsford last time, while the return to 7f should benefit Seyasah, who looked a non-stayer over a mile at Yarmouth on her latest outing.

Verdict

POYLE CHARLOTTE did well to finish as close as she did having started very slowly at Kempton 2 weeks ago, keeping on well without ever getting to the winner. Open to further improvement, she looks sure to make a bold bid. Last year's winner Acadian Angel has looked a prime candidate for headgear of late and she is worth a close look now visored. Zafaranah is also respected.
