Hasn't yet got going this term and he is 5 lb out of the handicap.

Verdict

BAN SHOOF has been off the track since finishing a neck second over 1m2f at Lingfield in February but returns off a mark which is only 1lb higher. He may well gain compensation now dropping back in trip as he was headed in the final strides last time. Duke Of North is only 3lb higher in the ratings than when striking over track and trip last time and is considered the main danger ahead of Ayr third Dose, who drops back from 1m2f.

Verdict

DUKE OF NORTH took advantage of a handy mark over this C&D 2 weeks ago and a 3 lb rise ought not to prevent a bold follow-up bid. 13-y-o Shifting Star still retains his enthusiasm and an uncontested lead would bring him into the argument.

Verdict

EYELOOL stepped up on his debut fifth at Newbury when picking up the silver medal over 6f at Ripon last time. William Haggas' charge stayed on well inside the final furlong at the North Yorkshire venue and can be expected to progress again now granted this stiffer test. Light Heart went close over 6f on debut at Ayr and should be thereabouts, while Spirit Warning is entitled to come on for his debut spin behind the classy Calyx at HQ and could feasibly take a hand.

Verdict

Though EYELOOL was turned over when odds on at Ripon, it was nevertheless another promising effort and he is much the most likely winner of this maiden. Light Heart may prove most troublesome, while newcomer The Great Story is one to note in the betting and Manguzi and Spirit Warning should both leave their debut efforts well behind in time.

Latest win at Newcastle in January. Respectable sixth of 8 in handicap at Carlisle (1m, good to firm) and has dipped below that winning mark for the first time since.

Verdict

Highland Acclaim is effectively 3lb higher than when scoring over 6f here last time and he can show up well over this longer trip, though it might be worth taking a chance on BIG STORM COMING, who was touched off by a neck over 7f at Doncaster last time out and is expected to return to winning ways sooner than later. Handytalk wasn't beaten far over 6f here last time and is also expected to make his presence felt.

Verdict

HIGHLAND ACCLAIM's mark had been due to come down 3 lb prior to last week's 6f win here so he's effectively only 3 lb higher now and his fine track record tips things in his favour in a tight race. Last year's runner-up Handytalk is likely to figure again, while a decent case can also be made for Big Storm Coming and Sha La La La Lee.

Landed a Ffos Las minor event (7.3f) on his penultimate start last term. Creditable fifth both starts for new yard this season.

Verdict

AKVAVERA was disappointing when sent off favourite at Redcar last time but can be forgiven that run and is perhaps best judged on his York second before that when finding just the Sandringham Stakes fourth Desert Diamond too good and is still racing from a winnable mark. Richard Fahey's northern raider, Nottingham winner Paramount Love, wasn't disgraced at Hamilton last time from her revised mark and has to be respected, while Liva has threatened to be a useful performer and now has the chance to improve thanks to a wind operation.

Verdict

AKVAVERA pulled too hard at Redcar and is worth another chance to confirm the promise of her previous run when second at York. Macaque and Danzay both took a step back in the right direction last time and are others to consider.

Verdict

DATA PROTECTION caught the eye when third last time out on his first start since wind surgery and having been beaten less than a length there when finishing best of all, he has a chance of going one better from just 1lb higher with the extra half a furlong here in his favour. Sukhovey steps up in trip having knocked on the door at Brighton last time, while a drop in distance could help Flere Imsaho prove stronger at the finish.

Verdict

DATA PROTECTION improved on the pick of his efforts as a 2-y-o when third on return at Newbury last month, essentially having his chance of victory compromised by being carried right and unable to open up until late. He is fancied to confirm the promise of that run. Banksy's Art and The Night King could well emerge next best.

Not fired for new trainer this year but down to a good mark and there is a strong possibility he'll get an uncontested lead in first-time blinkers.

Won at Nottingham in May on final start for Tim Easterby and ran well upped to this trip when third at Newmarket last time, held up and not getting a clear run. Fair shout if not getting too far back.

Came from off the pace when winning well at Windsor (10f) last month and not seen to best effect in steadily-run race here since. Might face similar scenario but is trying a new trip.

Verdict

Nottingham winner Hyanna hasn't been disgrace when making the podium from her revised mark the last twice and Eve Johnson Houghton's three-year-old can get involved once again. However, preference is for local handler Adam West's COULDN'T COULD SHE who was a winner at Windsor over 10 furlongs two starts back and shaped, both then and at this venue last week when third, as a horse who would improve for stepping up in trip. The blinkered first-time Against All Odds could also get involved with Fran Berry in the saddle.

Verdict

From a career-low mark it is worth siding with AGAINST THE ODDS as there is a good chance he'll get an uncontested lead. Hyanna continues in decent form and might be the one for the forecast.
