Much improved when second of 11 in handicap hurdle at Taunton (soft) in February. However, failed to repeat that effort back there since.

Verdict

GONNABEGOOD was a bit disappointing last time out but is a player based on his previous form, which saw him win off a 3lb lower mark at Towcester in February. Breaking Ground may be a touch high in the ratings to win today but he should be in the mix for the places, along with Admiral Blake and Georgina Joy.

Verdict

GONNABEGOOD has been mildly progressive over hurdles and could be worth siding with in a race where plenty have questions to answer. Breaking Ground and Admiral Blake are feared most.

Verdict

POINT N SHOOT arrives here on the back of some encouraging efforts in defeat and that includes his second-placed finish over C&D last week. Based on that evidence, the seven-year-old could take plenty of beating from the same mark this afternoon. Fearsome Fred was not at his best last time out but he did run well at Towcester the time before that, while Tara Well is another to consider.

Verdict

POINT N SHOOT may well have been better served by being held on to a little longer when runner-up over C&D on his most recent start and he could well be worth chancing in the hope that is the case here. Fled Or Pled and Tara Well are a couple of others to consider.

Offered little in a bumper at Taunton on debut last month and difficult to recommend now hurdling.

Verdict

DARLING MALTAIX struggled in a competitive handicap at Kempton when last seen in December but his previous form in maiden hurdles gives him a big chance this afternoon. The five-year-old was still in the mix when falling at the last at Taunton two starts ago and he was not beaten far at the same venue the time before that. Amzac Magic showed decent form between the flags and he is entitled to improve for his recent Rules debut, while L'Auberge Du Bois also warrants consideration.

Verdict

L'AUBERGE DU BOIS was no match for the impressive Blu Cavalier at Wincanton, but that rival has advertised the form since, winning his next 2 starts, so he receives the vote. Standard-setter Darling Maltaix and Illtellmema are the other likely players.

Really getting the hang of hurdling now, improving again when finding only one too good on handicap debut at this track 16 days ago (21.6f). Kept on well on that occasion and he's the one to beat.

Verdict

GOLDEN SUNRISE gets the nod today after he beat a decent field over an extended 2m2f here in February and he was not disgraced under a penalty at Fontwell last time. Vodka All The Way should pick up a race sometime soon based on his last couple of efforts and he should give the selection plenty to think about today. Stradivarius Davis won a point-to-point last May and should improve for his first run under Rules at Doncaster.

Verdict

VODKA ALL THE WAY took his form up another notch when runner-up on recent handicap debut at this track (21.6f) and the 6 lb he receives from previous winners Golden Sunrise and Dancing Shadow may prove decisive.

Likeable type enjoying an excellent season, again showing a good attitude to gain third success of the campaign at Towcester last time. Steps up into stronger race, but James Nixon takes 7 lb off.

Verdict

DONTMINDDBOYS has been running well all season and this consistent nine-year-old has to be respected this afternoon. Robin Dickin's gelding arrives here on the back of a victory at Towcester late last month and a 5lb rise for that success appears to be fair. Leith Hill Lad and Cadeau Du Bresil are others who have been successful in recent months and they should go well once again today.

Verdict

JEPECK and Dontminddboys have been in good order for a while and are expected to fight out the finish to this weak handicap chase, the latter, who has shaped well on his last two visits to this track, marginally preferred, with Cadeau du Bresil also worth considering.

Long-standing maiden and not one to be interested in. 6 lb out of handicap.

Verdict

Beni Light has been pulled up the last twice but does drop in class, while the consistent Gustav is unlikely to be far away now under Nick Schofield. Trojan Star is often well backed but rarely to any avail, and it could be worth siding with MILLEN DOLLAR MAN. Second at Plumpton nine days ago, Alex Dunn's charge might well be 1-39 in his career but he has only had three starts over fences and could have more to offer.

Verdict

GUSTAV stepped up on his comeback when third at Chepstow and can resume winning ways having been eased a further 2 lb. Millen Dollar Man stopped the slide from out of the blue when only just denied at Plumpton off this mark and rates a big threat, with Denny Kerrell another to consider.

Verdict

KOOTENAY RIVER was a runaway winner at Hackwood Park last month and looks poised to have too much for this opposition now with Alan King. Improvement seems assured from the four-year-old, who has the services of Tommie O'Brien in the saddle once more, and he can account for Billygwyn Too, who has shown signs of promise between the flags, and Control Me, who receives weight all round and could be dangerous for the Francesco Nimmo/Alex Edwards combination.

Verdict

Assessing the merit of the point form on offer isn't easy, but KOOTENAY RIVER fetched £80,000 following his easy win on debut and has since transferred to Alan King, so it's safe to say he created a good impression. He could well be the answer, but all of these have experience between the flags, with Control Me and The Roestone both successful first-time up, too.

Showed good attitude to get off the mark at fourth attempt (runner-up twice previously) in Irish points recently, so has to come into the reckoning for all he's something of an unknown quantity.

Verdict

Eight-time point-to-point winner MASTER BAKER made the perfect start to his hunter chase career when scoring at Taunton earlier this month and has been found another nice opening to score by connections. He looks to be a fair recruit to this sphere, and could have too much for Herbert Park, who won well between the flags on his reappearance in February, and Blue Mountain Boy, who has won four of his last six starts in point-to-point company.

Verdict

HERBERT PARK and Master Baker are both likeable sorts in excellent form and would have been difficult to split at level weights, the latter's penalty for winning at Taunton just giving the first-named the edge in what should be a fascinating novices' hunter, with Knockan Run and Blue Mountain Boy both in excellent form from points.
