Verdict

FENLONS COURT looks to be on a good handicap mark and put in his best performance for quite some time when second at Stratford in June. A break should have done the six-year-old good and a rating of 102 looks to be well within his capabilities. Sixties Idol won well over course and distance last time and looks to be suited by this good ground, while Gamekeeper Bill outran 40-1 odds when second at Huntingdon three weeks ago.

Verdict

BLACK ANTHEM remains a maiden, but he ran well from 2 lb higher over C&D in May and looks capable of making his present felt under the Champion Jockey. Gamekeeper Bill is heading in the right direction now and is feared along with Stonemadforspeed, who would be a danger if reproducing his latest effort.

Enhanced his excellent record at Worcester with another win there in September before narrowly edged out in a tight finish from 5 lb higher at Warwick since. Not discounted.

Verdict

Ortenzia looks poised to end up a far better chaser than hurdler and put in a nice round of jumping in victory at Bangor earlier this month, while Heurtevent arrives here in good form and should give the form of this contest a solid enough outlook for the grade. Le Precieux had a spin on the Flat at Kempton two weeks ago to warm up for this, but NEW MILLENNIUM looks to be settling well over fences now and could be handicapped to strike for the first time.

Verdict

A competitive race despite the numbers. ORTENZIA didn’t progress as a hurdler, but things may be different as a chaser and she’s given the benefit of the doubt after knuckling down well to make a winning start at Bangor 3 weeks ago. New Millennium is second choice.

Verdict

CANYON CITY landed a gamble when scoring at Fakenham five days ago and connections are clearly keen to reap the rewards of his unexposed profile. He remains 2lb well-in, while Bryony Frost's 3lb claim should also help matters for the thriving five-year-old. Caro Des Flos won at Downpatrick when last seen and needs a market check on debut for Julian Smith, while Royal Plaza looks sure to be given a positive ride after narrowly failing to hang on at this track 18 days ago.

Verdict

CANYON CITY did it so readily at Fakenham last week that it's hard to believe a penalty will be enough to stop him following up considering few of the others appeal as being well treated, so he's a confident choice ahead of fellow last-time-out winner Wind Place and Sho, with G For Ginger expected to get back on her game to mount a challenge.

Built on promising return to open account on second start for this yard over C&D in February and quickly back on track when third at Taunton, catching the eye. May have more to offer this season.

Verdict

Never Learn was given a great ride by Harry Cobden to win last time and shouldn't be far away, while Howlongisafoot put in his strongest performance for quite some time when second at Worcester recently and should be finishing strongly. Preference, however, is for C&D winner REDMOND, who looked really well suited by this track when scoring in February and could have plenty more to offer on his return from a six-month absence.

Verdict

JARLATH can sometimes be let down by his jumping but he ran well at this track last season and could be worth chancing back down to his last winning mark. Redmond is lightly raced for his age and may still have more to offer this season, while Never Learn is getting the hang of things now.

Unbeaten in 2 bumpers at the start of the summer, scoring by 11 lengths at Worcester on the second occasion. Fell at the first on hurdles bow here in August but one to consider if over that.

Verdict

Dual Flat scorer HIGH COMMAND made a promising start to his hurdling career when third behind a couple of subsequent winners at Plumpton and, with normal improvement, he could prove difficult to beat. Go Forrit improved with each bumper start earlier this year and he should make up into a decent hurdler, while Andapa can hopefully get further than she did first time over timber here when crashing out at the first obstacle and won both her bumper outings previously.

Verdict

HIGH COMMAND wasn't far off useful on the Flat and showed plenty to work on when third on hurdling debut at Plumpton. Andapa got no further than the first on hurdles bow here in August but still needs considering having won both her starts in bumpers, while Go Forrit makes most appeal of the hurdling newcomers.

Successful over C&D in May 2017, but has struggled to reproduce that form over both sets of obstacles since. 6 lb out of the weights.

Verdict

HARDTOROCK certainly showed no signs of stopping when scoring over the extended 2m5f here last time and a 6lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood. Chill In The Wood had been performing well before hitting the deck at Chepstow, recording placed efforts over C&D and at Newton Abbot. Providing her confidence hasn't been knocked, she ought to run a big race, while the returning Morney Wing looks next best.

Verdict

HARDTOROCK wouldn't ordinarily be an obvious follow-up contender, but he's been found a race against a very uninspiring bunch so he has to be the way to go. Morney Wing ought to be a factor at this level if fully fit for this return.

Shaped quite well on debut at Ludlow in May (behind Crackle Lyn Rosie) but could never land a blow out of her own sex at Huntingdon later that month.

Verdict

CRACKLE LYN ROSIE only found the well-fancied Lust For Glory too good on her debut at Ludlow in the spring and normal improvement could see her go one better. Kissesforkatie wasn't beaten far on her introduction at Naas in January and warrants respect having crossed the Irish Sea to join Jeremy Scott, while Drift, who improved for wind surgery when sixth at Stratford, and Colin Tizzard's newcomer Milano's Melody are others to note.

Verdict

CRACKLE LYN ROSIE would have given the odds-on winner a race with a clear run starting out at Ludlow in May, and with improvement forthcoming, she's certainly capable of winning one of these against her own sex. She may have most to fear from well-bred newcomers Milano's Melody and Seaton Carew.
