Much improved over hurdles last year, scoring twice in that sphere in August. Never a threat on chase debut at Clonmel in maiden won by Odonimee (Ballyburke second) but open to improvement.

Verdict

DER SPIELER has taken some time to come to himself over the larger obstacles but with some experience under his belt now, the seven-year-old can break his duck. In a competitive event at Leopardstown latest, the gelded son of Singspiel wasn't disgraced back in fourth and this looks a more realistic assignment on paper. Elsewhere, Dantes King has threatened a win and should be closely considered in the build up, while the well-bred Harpsy Cord has the potential to be a useful chaser and should be thereabouts when push comes to shove.

Verdict

Harpsy Cord brings the best chase form to the table, but it could be worth taking a chance that all is well with Ballyadam Brook who stands out like a sore thumb judged on his hurdling exploits in 2010. He is out of a winning chaser and it will look significant if he attracts support in the betting. Dantes King is the pick of the remainder.

Can't have been the easiest to train, relatively lightly-raced since landing a Grade 1 novice chase at Fairyhouse in 2008/9. Good effort in minor event at Clonmel latest but up against it here.

Verdict

The 164-rated RUBI LIGHT sets a very good standard and is tough to oppose in this Grade 2. The gelded son of Network figures prominently towards the business end of the ante-post market for the Ryanair and the Grade 1 winner was by no means disgraced when a creditable runner-up behind Synchronised in the Lexus Chase last time. Apt Approach is feared most for Willie Mullins and will relish the soft ground under Paul Townend, with The Fonze completing the shortlist.

Verdict

This is arguably Rubi Light's optimum trip and while he won't get things all his own way out in front with Apt Approach in opposition, the 7-y-o should have too many guns for Willie Mullins' charge. Chicago Grey can pick up minor place money.

Verdict

Oscar Dan Dan looked back to his brilliant best when notching over the larger obstacles for the first time at Navan last month but slight preference is for KILFLORA. Philip Fenton's gelding looks feasibly treated off this mark of 119 having displayed renewed promise in novice company recently and, at the forecast prices, he looks the value bet. Uncle Tom Cobley rates pick of the remainder.

Verdict

It's hard to ignore the claims of Oscar Dan Dan who would take the world of beating off his opening handicap mark over fences if translating anything akin to the pick of his hurdling form to this sphere. However, if Will Jamie Run is ridden positively dropped to this trip he could prove hard to peg back, and is worth siding with at the likely odds. Uncle Tom Cobley should be involved, too.

Verdict

Look no further than ZAIDPOUR. This doesn't look the greatest renewal of the Red Mills Trial Hurdle, which Dunguib won 12 months ago, and Willie Mullins' gelding will take some stopping. He got the upper hand over the classy mare Voler La Vedette when stepped up in trip here last month and, with Grade 1 winning form over 2m in the book, he is tough to oppose. Kalann and Darwins Fox are expected to fight it out for minor honours.

Verdict

Though he has raced over farther in all 3 starts this term, the drop back to 2m is unlikely to inconvenience Zaidpour. He has plenty in hand of these rivals and this should serve as the ideal preperation for a tilt at either the Champion or World Hurdle at next month's Cheltenham Festival. Kalann and Prima Vista can fill the places.

Verdict

SHAMAR boasts some useful form on the level in France and Willie Mullins' 125,000 euro recruit is expected to make it a winning debut. Having won on heavy ground at Compiegne in October last year, he should relish the underfoot conditions here and strong market vibes would indicate a big run is expected. Of the others, Around The Clock can build on his Limerick effort, while the well-bred Live At Five is also noteworthy on debut.

Verdict

Around The Clock is entitled to come on for his highly encouraging debut effort in this sphere when runner-up at Limerick. However, Shamar cost current connections a packet and looks a likely type starting out for the Champion trainer, so he gets the nod. Cause of Causes, like Shamar a recruit from the Flat in France, is most interesting of the rest.

Not entirely disgraced when ninth in bumper here in April but hasn't done enough over hurdles to make him of interest, especially given that he's 10 lb out of the handicap.

Verdict

If jumping issues have been addressed, Cloughmile has every chance at a price but TABLE MOUNTAIN gets the vote. On his handicap bow latest, the five-year-old son of Milan looked to be off a lenient mark of 102 and, despite finishing a beaten favourite, he suggested that he could break his duck over timber with a promising runner-up effort. Colls Corner is another for the shortlist on the back of his comfortable success at Naas last week.

Verdict

Table Mountain took a step forward when pitched into a handicap for the first time at Fairyhouse and, with a 4 lb rise for that effort far from prohibitive, he can open his account over hurdles here. Colls Corner and Persian Gayle head the list of dangers.

Well backed ahead of his debut in an 11-runner bumper here (2m) in November but beat just 2 rivals home. Looked green, though, so no surprise to see him step up on that effort now.

Plenty of appeal on paper, so interesting to see which way he goes in the betting, although it's worth noting that he hails from a yard that is 0-14 at this track in recent seasons.

From a yard who have a decent record in bumpers and shaped well when third on debut at Cork in November. Turned over when favourite at Punchestown since but wasn't disgraced, and merits respect.

From a yard who have a decent record in bumpers and shaped well when third on debut at Cork in November. Turned over when favourite at Punchestown since but wasn't disgraced, and merits respect.

Verdict

Busty Brown and Kilcrea have done their claims no harm having placed in similar company at Naas and Limerick respectively but a chance is taken on UNDONE. Nina Carberry boasts a fantastic record in bumpers and Paul Nolan's representative can take plenty from his effort at Punchestown last month when behind several useful sorts including Joxer and Allure Of Illusion. Kayf Tara progeny are renowned for coming on for their efforts first time out and, at the forecast prices, he looks the one to be on.

Verdict

Kilcrea stands out, having chased home a potentially very useful type at Limerick last time, in turn finishing well clear of the remainder. In terms of bumper form, Busty Brown and Way Up In The Air appear to be the main dangers but the main threat may be posed by Undone who shaped well in a decent maiden hurdle at Punchestown.
