A winner in France in 2016. No promise for this yard last year but there was at least something to glean from last month's Chepstow (10f) return third. Now he needs to build on that.

Verdict

BARTHOLOMEW J has improved a stone in three starts having won all of them at Yarmouth and he is more than capable of landing the four-timer with Gavin Ashton able to claim 5lb in the plate. Akamanto has been very consistent throughout 2018 and gained his second success of the year at Ayr last time. He is respected along with Luv U Whatever, who was third to Itlaaq at Musselburgh in an amateur riders' handicap latest.

Verdict

BARTHOLOMEW J could hardly be in better heart, completing the hat-trick in good style at Yarmouth last month. He is fancied to make a bold bid to complete the 4-timer and gets the nod. Akamanto impressed with his attitude at Ayr recently and he is feared most, ahead of Luv U Whatever.

Verdict

BEATBOXER was a $650,000 purchase at the Keeneland Yearlings Sale last autumn and went some way to justifying the price tag when winning on debut at Sandown over 7f. The way he stayed on up the hill suggested a mile would be no issue to the son of Scat Daddy and, although he concedes 6lb to all his rivals, the manner of that success indicated he could prove to be a very smart individual. Kadar comes from the family of Kalanisi and cost 700,000 euros at the Arqana Breeze-Up in May and represents Karl Burke, who has done well with his juveniles this season, while Summer Moon chased home an experienced rival at Doncaster and can take a step forward.

Verdict

An interesting heat. BEATBOXER is open to plenty of improvement on the back of his Sandown debut success and gets the nod but strong market support for fellow expensive purchase Kadar, who holds a Group 1 entry, would put a slightly different slant on things. Mark Johnston's Summer Moon is also respected on the back of a promising debut second at Doncaster.

Verdict

MOTAFAAWIT wasn't disgraced when dropped to 6f at Newbury when runner-up behind Legends Of War and the extra furlong can see him show his class in this heat under a penalty. Zoffee has shown up well in two outings to date and can go close once again, while Nayef Road was second to the selection on his racecourse debut at Leicester and is capable of an improved effort having disappointed behind Al Hilalee at Newmarket.

Verdict

MOTAFAAWIT built on his winning debut when pushing an exciting prospect all the way at Newbury 2 weeks ago and can defy a penalty at the main expense of Bullion Boss, who made an eye-catching debut at Ayr. Zoffee is best of the others.

Just modest form in various grades, beaten in claimers/sellers. Hard to fancy in this company.

Verdict

XTARA hasn't done a great deal wrong in four starts thus far and, if the first-time cheekpieces do their job and eke out extra improvement, he could prove a tough nut to crack. The locally-trained Dark Thunder has shown enough in previous starts to suggest he can run well on his nursery debut off a mark of 77, while Treasure Quest is expected to give a good account under Nicola Currie, who has twice gone close aboard the colt.

Verdict

DARK THUNDER ran well at Doncaster last time and could have more to offer in nurseries for a local trainer/jockey combination enjoying plenty of success again at Haydock this season. Treasure Quest and Sword of Gold are a couple of likely dangers.

Scored for fourth time when taking 6-runner event at Ayr (13f, good to firm) last month. Another solid effort when narrowly denied at Musselburgh (2m) last time. Another who arrives in good form.

Verdict

PADDY A has been in cracking form, winning three of his last five starts, and the way he did the job over 1m6f here latest suggests he can defy a further 5lb rise in the ratings. Question Of Faith was equally as impressive when scoring at Ayr 11 days ago and she rates the biggest threat, ahead of the hat-trick seeking Dalshand, who might just get caught out by the step up in class and further 3lb climb.

Verdict

Only 5 runners but they all arrive in form. The vote goes to DALSHAND who has really found his feet again of late and still looks well treated based on the form he showed earlier in his career, but the likes of Cliffs of Dover and Paddy A should ensure he doesn't have things all his own way.

Losing run stretches back to June 2016, though she did nothing wrong when finding only an unexposed rival too strong at Ayr in June. Did seem to turn it in at York a week later, though.

Little worthwhile form. 5 lb out of the handicap.

Little worthwhile form. 5 lb out of the handicap.

Verdict

MISS DD has been creeping down the handicap despite a number of recent solid efforts and this represents a great opportunity for Iain Jardine's filly to double her tally of career wins. Cherry Oak is 1lb lower than when a decent fourth at Thirsk, and also has Connor Murtagh aboard claiming 5lb, so she should go close, while Fumbo Jumbo warrants respect back at the same level as when beaten a neck two starts ago.

Verdict

An averagely-handicapped bunch, but CHERRY OAK is pretty consistent and the style of her Newcastle win in June suggests she can land a race like this. Fumbo Jumbo takes a drop in class but isn't one for maximum faith, so Miss Dd is feared most.
