Maiden who needs to improve to strike off his current mark. Second run after wind surgery.

Verdict

Ayutthaya made all to win over this trip at Thirsk when last sighted in April and is worth a market check now returning from an absence, though of more interest is HUMBLE GRATITUDE, who was beaten by less than two lengths over the extended 7f at Chester last time and wouldn't need to find much improvement in order to go one better. Novice winner Addis Ababa is unexposed now going handicapping, while Falmouth Light, who struck on his first start for Iain Jardine over 1m2f at Doncaster, could also take a hand.

Verdict

ADDIS ABABA could have more to offer now handicapping and makes plenty of appeal. Humble Gratitude shaped well at Chester a fortnight ago and is a big player stepped up in trip. Rhosneigr is another to note under Jim Crowley.

Has improved with every run and made that count against older horses on handicap debut in first-time blinkers at Newcastle a fortnight ago. Back over longer trip which will suit and leading claims.

Verdict

RASHDAN battled on well to score over 1m2f at Newcastle two week ago, winning in first-time blinkers, and may have more to offer in the retained headgear now stepping up in trip. Mister Belvedere remains only 2lb higher than when winning over this trip at York on his penultimate outing and has viable place claims, likewise Super Kid, a former Godolphin inmate who has bounced back from a long absence and landed his first start for his current stable at Wolverhampton last time.

Verdict

BIRDS OF PREY has run good races in strong Kempton handicaps for Paul Nicholls this year and looks set for another big effort back from a break. Play It Cool is interesting returning for a new yard, while the sole 3-y-o Rashdan has every chance after his Newcastle triumph.

Improved with each start as a juvenile, culminating in fine second in listed race at Newbury. Touched off in Haydock minor event on return in May, but not seen since and in much deeper now.

Verdict

AGROTERA backed up her 1m victory in a Windsor maiden by landing the Sandringham last time and although she was subsequently hiked up the ratings by the handicapper, she steps up in grade now and is expected to take it in her stride. Shepherd Market rattled the crossbar in Listed company at Newbury last year and is entitled to build on a near miss on her comeback at Haydock in May. La Figlia made a winning start for her new stable at Chelmsford last time and could also take a hand.

Verdict

AGROTERA was most impressive in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and can take this step up in class in her stride. Unforgetable Filly and La Figlia are feared most.

Useful maiden for Mohamed Moubarak and landed odds on return/debut for this yard at Thirsk. Smart form since, just denied in handicap at Newmarket latest. Big player.

Verdict

ELWAZIR built on his 1m2f victory at Sandown when following up over the same trip at Ascot last month and now looks ready to try his luck outside of handicaps. The latter comment is also applicable to Communique, who arrives on a hat-trick after handicap victories at Newmarket's July meeting and at Glorious Goodwood. Zaaki was a short-head second to the last-named at HQ and has place claims, as does recent York Group 2 second Brorocco.

Verdict

ELWAZIR looks ready for this step up in class having shown smart form when justifying market confidence in a handicap at Ascot last month. Zaaki is another progressive sort and rates the clear main danger ahead of Brorocco.

Better than ever when striking at third time of asking for new yard at Hamilton in June, but has disappointed at Carlisle since.

Verdict

MOUNTAIN ANGEL has shown good form in his two starts so far this campaign and his third to Chiefofchiefs at Sandown was a solid effort when last seen in May. Any rain in the forecast would boost his chance and he could have more to offer. War Glory ran well from a tricky draw when fourth at Thirsk last Saturday and is better drawn today, while Markazi is a fascinating contender on his UK debut for David O'Meara having shown useful form in France.

Verdict

WAR GLORY perhaps just paid for having to use up plenty of energy to get across from a wide stall when fading late on at Thirsk last Saturday. The draw has been kinder to him on this occasion and he's worth one more chance. David O'Meara has recruited the likes of Mondialiste and Lord Glitters from France so market support for Markazi would look significant. Stablemate Lamloom also merits respect.

Multiple winner last summer who has been consistent without having quite the same zip about him this year, so not an obvious one stepped up in grade.

Verdict

ROBERO ran more than respectably behind Cliffs Of Capri on his first start for Gay Kelleway at Ascot and he could benefit from a pair of cheekpieces being applied for the first time. The evergreen Confessional has been in decent form on his last couple of starts at Chester and has a good record here, so warrants plenty of respect. Others to consider include Pennsylvania Dutch, who could benefit from a return to the Merseyside venue, and Equitation, who is open to improvement on his sixth career outing.

Verdict

ROYAL RESIDENCE has looked comfortably ahead of his mark without getting his head in front this year and he's proven at the track, so expect him to open his account today if things drop right. Fellow lightly-raced sort Equitation can give him most to think about, while Robero is one to keep an eye on having debuted for a new yard with an encouraging run.
