Good efforts in second at Sedgefield and Uttoxeter in August/September and better judged on those efforts given his last run probably came too soon.

Verdict

It is a slight concern that INN THE BULL is a four-year-old who has to give weight away to his older rivals but he overcame the same challenge when winning at Worcester last month. An 8lb rise in the ratings makes life tougher but he is open to improvement given his age. Tempuran has an each-way chance based on his run at Southwell last time, while Bollin Line is another with claims.

Verdict

INN THE BULL fits a different profile to the remainder, a progressive youngster from a top yard who is yet to taste defeat over hurdles, so there's every reason to think he can maintain that unbeaten record at the expense of some exposed sorts. Tempuran would be a threat if building on his last run and Bohernagore is expected to be back on his game following a lesser effort.

Won twice over hurdles in spring of 2015 but remains with little form over fences. Hard to envisage him playing a leading role.

Verdict

In a race with no standout candidate the marginal preference is for TROJAN STAR, who ran encouragingly in a couple of competitive events when last seen back in April. The likes of Ballypoint, Florida Calling and Hepijeu are all more than capable of going well but they are not the most reliable of performers, while similar comments also apply to Larkhall.

Verdict

FLORIDA CALLING was well below form last time, but if he can recapture the level he showed on his penultimate start at Perth, he could prove to be the answer here. Hepijeu, Trojan Star and Ballypoint look the other key players.

Signs of ability on the level for William Knight last year, but no progress for new yard this year and she was well held on last month's hurdling debut.

Verdict

DESIREMOI D'AUTHIE was an impressive winner of a 1m4f Flat race in France back in March and he would not have to be a superstar to take this race on his hurdles debut. Canyon City was an 85,000 pound purchase in December last year and he did show some promise on his first run over hurdles late last month. The rest do not inspire much confidence but Sunader is entitled to improve for his racecourse debut in a Worcester bumper a few weeks ago.

Verdict

This may well develop in to a match between CANYON CITY and Desiremoi d'Authie. The former has the benefit of hurdles experience and gets the narrow vote. Sunader may emerge best of the others.

Tiring in second when fell heavily 2 out in novice handicap at Market Rasen on chasing debut in May, and may have needed the run back over hurdles last month. She should still cut it in this sphere.

Verdict

AGAMEMMON made the frame over hurdles on multiple occasions last season and the switch to fences should suit this former winner between the flags. He did make a winning seasonal debut last term in a bumper and it would be no surprise to see him go well fresh once again. Officer Hoolihan looks sure to improve for going over the larger obstacles and he could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although Ckalco Des Loges and Meribel Millie should not be discounted.

Verdict

CAJUN FIDDLE progressed steadily last season after winning her novice hurdle at Southwell in November, and she should have plenty to offer now tackling fences for the first time. Ckalco des Loges wasn’t seen to best effect last time, but could easily bounce back now chasing, while Meribel Millie is another who may potentially do better in this sphere.

Verdict

SOUPY SOUPS was a three-time winner over hurdles last season and the six-year-old looks an interesting recruit to the novice chase ranks having shown plenty of scope last season. His wins were all wide-margin routs and it would be no surprise if there was a similar outcome here if he was to get his own way. Dingo Dollar has similar claims and his handler's horses are running fairly well first time out, while Beau Du Brizais was a consistent if not flashy performer over hurdles and fences combined with a staying trip could be the making of him.

Verdict

Irish point winner DINGO DOLLAR is an interesting staying novice chase prospect after a solid campaign over hurdles last term and gets the vote for the Alan King team. Meldrum Lad was much improved for the switch to Seamus Durack in the spring and may have even more to offer back from a break, while Beau du Brizais has been in good form over hurdles and should figure if taking to chasing.

Verdict

AUDACIOUS PLAN bumped into a well treated rival on his first start for Dr Richard Newland at Uttoxeter last time but hope should not be lost. He returns to hurdles off a 6lb lower mark than that over fences and his young conditional jockey Charlie Hammond removes a further 7lb. Reckless Behavior has been hitting the frame of late and has claims if improving for the step up to three miles plus, while Generous Chief is another to consider for talented handler Graeme McPherson.

Verdict

AUDACIOUS PLAN was gambled on and duly returned to form for his new yard when runner-up over fences at Uttoxeter recently, finding only an improver too strong late on. From his lower hurdles mark he is fancied to go one place better now. Reckless Behavior and Herdswick Holloa are a pair of unexposed sorts and feared most.

Fair winner on the Flat but well held on Market Rasen hurdling debut last month.

Verdict

The four-year-old FROZEN FLAME wasn't beaten far on his only point-to-point start and, given Jonjo O'Neill has his string in fine form, he could make a successful transition to Rules racing here on his hurdles bow. Carlos Du Fruitier was last seen finishing down the field in the Aintree Grade Two bumper at the Grand National meeting, but is obviously held in high regard to be pitched into that contest and he is one who could have more to come now hurdling, while El Presente is another to consider but he may come on for this seasonal reappearance.

Verdict

CARLOS DU FRUITIER's bumper form marks him down as a decent hurdling prospect and he can strike at the first time of asking for the Ben Pauling/ Daryl Jacob combination. Amanto has been placed in similar events on his last 3 starts and looks sure to be on the premises again, while expensive Irish point recruit Frozen Flame would very much come into it if the market vibes are strong.
