Irish point winner who cost €125,000. Quickened up well to win Hexham bumper last month and good sort for hurdling.

Verdict

SENOR LOMBARDY struck between the flags in the spring and landed a Hexham bumper when last sighted last month. Keith Dalgleish's four-year-old is expected to give a good account on his hurdles bow as he's in receipt of 7lb from penalised course (2m5f) scorer Coole Hall. Manitowoc County was outpaced over 2m3f at Carlisle and could improve for this step up in trip, likewise Flemens Story, a point winner who made his Rules debut over 2m here two weeks ago.

Verdict

SENOR LOMBARDY won a bumper at Hexham in fine style last month and looks a good sort for hurdling. He's taken to make a successful start in this sphere at the chief expense of the penalised Coole Hall. Flemens Story is a likely improver to keep an eye on.

Verdict

OAK VINTAGE lost little in defeat when finishing a short-head second to John Williams at Hexham last month and with that rival franking the form at Musselburgh last week, the selection is expected to remain competitive off a 1lb higher mark and follow suit. Betancourt struck over hurdles off 8lb lower at Sedgefield last month and is worth a market check on his fencing bow, while Petapenko is back from a long break and debuts for a new trainer so could similarly take a hand.

Verdict

MISFITS was second in this last year and could be the way to go on his return for an in-form yard. Blakerigg and Betancourt are a couple of others to consider on their chasing debuts.

Perth maiden hurdle winner for Lucinda Russell in 2015. Second on completed start in hunter chases for his owner in spring. Interesting having joined Alistair Whillans.

Verdict

LANDECKER landed this contest off 3lb lower 12 months ago and is expected to give a good account following a recent 2lb drop in the ratings for his last run at Aintree. Scotswell signed off last season with a chase victory here over this trip in April and is worth a market check on his seasonal return, albeit he's rated 5lb higher here. Tawseef has been active on the Flat recently and also appears feasibly treated at present.

Verdict

TAWSEEF has enjoyed a fine spell on the Flat and over hurdles since joining Donald McCain and looks the most solid option in a race where most have something to prove in terms of form and/or fitness. Landecker's record here entitles him to respect, while Wind of Hope is also of some interest having joined Alistair Whillans, particularly if the market speaks in his favour.

Verdict

COOKING FAT was catching the eye when staying on at Carlisle on last Sunday before unseating his rider at the fourth last and, providing his confidence isn't dented by that, looks the one to beat with Brian Hughes getting back on board. Cup Final has disappointed the last twice but has had an 82-day break and that might just improve him, while Chidswell warrants respect with Nicky Richards in good form at present.

Verdict

DIMPLE is very interesting starting out for Iain Jardine on his handicap debut and gets the vote. Sudski Star has a good record here and will be a big player if he stays, while it all will come together again for Federici one of these days.

Verdict

VENGEUR DE GUYE showed good improvement to return to winning form at Ayr on his latest start and a 3lb rise in the weights looks more than fair for the son of Dom Alco, who is fancied in what doesn't look the strongest of races. Welcome Ben had a fruitful spell over the summer months and arrives here in better form than most of these, while Tomorrow's Legend was in good form when last seen in the spring of 2016 and bids to continue that here.

Verdict

CHAIN OF BEACONS made an encouraging return for his new yard when third at Sedgefield a fortnight ago and can land the spoils if building on that. Trust Thomas is capable of a big run back over fences, while Vengeur de Guye got back in the winning groove at Ayr and could go well again.

Verdict

Helmsley Lad is entitled to improve for his Sedgefield reappearance and is more than capable of landing this. However, his free-going style of running leaves him vulnerable late on and he could get picked off once again here, with the in-form BENNY'S SECRET expected to go well. Nick Alexander's seven-year-old was brave when scoring over course and distance last time and could have plenty still in hand here off a mark of 104. Cape Of Glory and Craig Star look closely matched on their Sedgefield run in the summer, with the latter having come out and won over track and trip since. They are two other potential improvers to consider.

Verdict

C&D winner CRAIG STAR steps back up in trip having looked unsuited by the emphasis on speed over 2m here last time and can return to winning ways. Cape of Glory ran well in front of his rival at Sedgefield last time and looks a player again, while Benny's Secret, another C&D winner, has to be respected also.

Verdict

Jedd O'Keeffe has seen his National Hunt string running well of late and it would be no surprise if Doctor Thea is able to build on her Carlisle third earlier this autumn, while Derriana Spirit is a half-sister to Anthony Honeyball's dual-winning hurdler Pure Vision and is in good hands at Nicky Richards' Greystoke base. Irish raider Rashee is worthy of a market check, however, the most solid option could be HARRISONS PROMISE on the back of a second-placed effort on her hurdles bow at Newcastle and there is every chance she will have improved from that.

Verdict

This can go to one of the newcomers, with RASHEE making plenty of appeal for a trainer who does well in these events. Harrisons Promise made a bright start at Newcastle at the start of the year and can build on that. Derriana Spirit is another of the debutantes to keep an eye on.
