Let down by a bad mistake 4 out on first run for this yard at Ayr last month. May yet do better, particularly in handicaps.

Verdict

COOLE HALL has to give 10lb to all of his rivals this afternoon but the son of Flemensfirth remains the clear pick this afternoon. He has yet to finish outside of the first two under Rules and he won a stronger event than this at Newcastle last month. Knockrobin displayed plenty of promise on his debut at Carlisle and is entitled to improve for that experience, while Behindthelines is an interesting Rules debutant.

Verdict

COOLE HALL is a useful staying jumper in the making and further success beckons here. Knockrobin is the obvious one for the forecast, while Behindthelines is one to note making his debut over hurdles.

Verdict

Clondaw Castle and Some Reign both have valid form claims but the 6lb penalties they carry leave the pair vulnerable today. With that in mind, the preference is for AYE RIGHT because he made a very good impression when accounting for a decent rival in a Carlisle bumper back in November. Swashbuckle was a 90-rated Flat performer at his best and he should be capable of winning races over hurdles based on his Catterick run a couple of weeks ago.

Verdict

CLONDAW CASTLE might have just bumped into a couple of good ones when third at Doncaster last time and can make it 2 out of 3 over hurdles. Swashbuckle is likely to build on a solid start over timber at Catterick and rates a threat along with Some Reign and Carlisle bumper winner Aye Right.

Has some strong form and resumed winning ways in Carlisle handicap last month. Dangerous to discount.

Verdict

Chti Balko won well on heavy ground at Haydock last month but a 7lb rise makes life tougher for him and it could be argued that he is at his very best at that venue. CORNBOROUGH has been knocking on the door in some competitive contests in recent months and he may be underestimated in the market this afternoon. Others to consider are Charmant, Jassas and Monfass.

Verdict

CHARMANT goes from strength to strength and can get the hat-trick up. Imada is interesting back from a long absence for Nicky Richards and could be well treated for his handicap debut if he retains all his ability. Dexcite is also of interest after shaping well himself back from a long time lay-off at Doncaster.

Fairly useful in handicaps/hunters last season, winning at Musselburgh. Does have a decent record fresh and isn't weighted out of things if ready to go.

Fairly useful in handicaps/hunters last season, winning at Musselburgh. Does have a decent record fresh and isn't weighted out of things if ready to go.

Verdict

KATACHENKO rather lost his way following a victory in a Grade 3 handicap chase at Aintree in April 2016. That said, the nine-year-old bounced back to form at the same venue when only beaten a nose over 2m4f there last month. Based on that evidence he could take plenty of beating today despite a 4lb rise in the ratings. Ramonex and Takingrisks are other in-form participants to note, while Caraline cannot be discounted.

Verdict

RAMONEX is the potential improver here on the back of his Catterick victory and he's taken to follow up. Takingrisks shaped well on his return at Doncaster and is respected, while Top Cat Henry could be a player at bigger odds given his good record fresh in recent seasons.

Poor maiden easily passed over.

Verdict

A competitive affair with plenty having a lot to prove at present, including the likely favourite Minella Suite who returns to hurdles having disappointed over fences, with Nicki's Nipper another returning to timber and now back to her last winning mark. Rory's Valentine has been dropped 5lb by the assessor which gives her solid claims. However, preference is for MASSINI'S LADY who has prepared for this in point-to-points, finishing second last time at Hexham's flags track, and the handler has used this route to successfully revive his horses in the past.

Verdict

It might be worth taking a chance on a return to hurdling prompting an upturn in the fortunes of MINELLA SUITE. Rose Dobbin's charge has disappointed over fences this term but is well treated having finished second off a higher mark over timber last term. Topham Bay has long left the impression she'll be suited by this sort of stamina test, while The Delray Munky is unexposed now handicapping.

Won at Perth in summer 2016. Good second at Musselburgh on return in November and could build on that.

Verdict

Dual-Ayr winner LOUGH DERG JEWEL looks to land the three-timer here and the course and distance winner could be hard to stop here for the in-form Donald McCain. Chidswell will have appreciated his seasonal reappearance when second at Newcastle and remains on a handy mark, while Bright Prospect has hit the frame recently and could be dangerously placed at the foot of the handicap.

Verdict

LOUGH DERG JEWEL has put in a couple of very likeable performances in winning from the front at Ayr this season and could keep his unbeaten record over fences intact. Chidswell is a player if building on his Newcastle second, while Silver Tassie is capable of a bold show if the fitting of a tongue strap has the desired effect.

Fairly useful handicap chaser for Noel Meade at up to 29f. Type to do well in hunters for new connections.

Verdict

Vivaldi Collonges heads into this with uninspiring form figures, though this represents a significant drop in grade which could see a return form for his new owner/rider David Maxwell. Thomond was sixth in the Topham in the spring and this could be the beginning of the road back to Aintree for Nick Alexander's newest recruit. However, preference is for Nicky Richards CULTRAM ABBEY who has tuned up for this by winning an Alnwick point and could be a player in this sphere over the coming months.

Verdict

The first hunter chase of the season at Kelso and CULTRAM ABBEY is the call. His point success last month will have put him spot on and he looks safer than others. Vivaldi Collonges struggled in some of the big handicap chases last season but won the Kelso Champion Chase over C&D on his only other visit here and would have obvious claims if returning in that sort of form.
