Poor form in bumpers and well held both starts in novice hurdles.

Poor form in bumpers and well held both starts in novice hurdles.

Verdict

Former top Flat stayer HIGH JINX made the switch to jumping relatively late in life but he has been revitalised by it and after winning his first couple of NH starts, lost little in defeat when second to a subsequent scorer at Market Rasen. He can successfully concede weight all round, but Falak struck on the level at Carlisle to back up a Kilbeggan timber triumph, while Aye Right offered plenty of encouragement last term, and both are lively dangers.

Verdict

AYE RIGHT, High Jinx and Falak all have solid claims. The first-named is just preferred having finished second in a good novice hurdle at this venue back in January.

Ended time with Sue Smith on the up but more miss than hit for this yard since. Has had a wind operation.

Verdict

OIGHEAR DUBH has been holding his form well in Ireland, following up a Tipperary success with third placings at Tramore and Killarney. He still has plenty of scope for improvement in this sphere and is preferred to Trongate, who found only one too strong on his first crack at the larger obstacles at Perth. Ever So Much bumped into a bang in-form rival at Sedgefield so there was plenty of merit in his effort to claim the runner-up berth.

Verdict

OIGHEAR DUBH arrives at the top of his game and is sure to make another bold bid with Richard Johnson taking over. Trongate has made a promising start for this yard and remains with potential over fences, while Ever So Much was quickly back on track at Sedgefield 2 weeks ago.

Has offered little to date and expected to struggle again from out of the weights.

Verdict

A wind operation helped Rory's Valentine spring a 50/1 surprise at Perth in May but he must prove it wasn't a fluke, while Superefficient is on something of a retrieval mission after letting down favourite-backers at Tramore. Mitcd has done likewise on two of her last three starts but still commands attention, although another chance is given to SLEEP IN FIRST because he remains well treated at this discipline compared to his chase rating.

Verdict

GREEN ZONE is on a good mark and his latest Perth run suggests he's in the form to cash in on it soon. Mitcd arrives on the back of a couple of solid efforts on the Flat and is expected to go well despite top weight. Da Dou Ron Ron didn't get the chance to show what she could do on handicap debut last month but went off at only 6/1, suggesting connections' think she's on a fair mark.

Perth winner back from a year off in June and ran respectably when third there next time. Turned in an uncharacteristically mixed round of jumping next time, though.

Verdict

Cubomania struck on his most recent visit to these shores at Perth but was disappointing at Downpatrick last time, while Hargam won has he pleased at Warwick two starts ago but was beaten a long way at Southwell last time. Sudski Star won this under a feather weight last year but might find this a much tougher test, especially with INK MASTER in the field. Donald McCain's charge rattled off a hat-trick before finding just one too good at Stratford last time and could quickly return to winning ways.

Verdict

CUBOMANIA might have found his last run coming too soon having made a winning start in this sphere the time before and can bounce back with a bang with Richard Johnson back in the plate. Hargam is next best ahead of Ink Master.

Verdict

Forever Field is interesting as he makes the long trip up from Seven Barrows after a close-up third at Worcester, but this could be between a trio of Irish raiders. De Plotting Shed is not the most consistent but ran a fair fourth in a hot race at Down Royal latest, though MASSINI'S TRAP had a subsequent winner behind when third at Kilbeggan and has since won on the Flat. Go Another One completes the strong raiding party.

Verdict

ALFIE'S CHOICE has gone up 8 lb on the back of his Cartmel success in July, yet he did it pretty convincingly and may yet have more to offer. Go Another One and Forever Field are just 2 potential threats though, in an open-looking contest.

Sent off at 25/1 for top yard but showed a bit in Kilbeggan bumper on debut last month, plenty to do halfway and never nearer. Hood goes on. Likely to improve and has Richard Johnson up.

Verdict

AUNTIE MARY has a win between the flags to her name and has run well on both starts in this sphere, filling second spot at Perth before being beaten just half a length at Bellewstown. She is taken to go one better here, at the main expense of Geordiebest, who ran respectably at Downpatrick last time, while Miss Aloud was beaten a long way on debut but has to be respected for Gordon Elliott and Richard Johnson.

Verdict

AUNTIE MARY has run good races from the front the last twice and could be hard to peg back if allowed enough rope here. Goldencard showed plenty of ability in point to points and is interesting starting out for a yard with a fine record in bumpers. Miss Aloud and Geordiebest are both likely improvers.
