Verdict

VALENTINO SUNRISE produced his best effort to date when a length fourth over this trip at Lingfield and unpunished for that performance, he looks sure to mount a bold bid. Solesmes has been running consistently well, both in this company and at Plating level, and she is likely to be in the shake-up again, while Wolf Hunter and Islay Mist are others to note.

Verdict

WOLF HUNTER ran well making nursery debut despite not being seen to best effect when third at Wolverhampton 3 weeks ago and looks a big player having been eased a pound. Valentino Sunrise and Solesmes look best of the others.

Once-raced maiden. 66/1, last of 9 in minor event at Lingfield (7f, firm) on debut 27 days ago.

Verdict

BALLET RED sets a decent standard with her two performances both here and at Windsor, and she could open her account at the third time of asking. Archie Watson has his team in tremendous form so any market support for his unraced daughter of Battle Of Marengo, Meringue, should be noted, while Queen's Soldier and Willkommen are other newcomers to keep an eye on.

Verdict

BALLET RED went close to making a winning debut here but wasn't in the same form at Windsor since. She's worth another chance back on AW with her experience likely to count for plenty. Meringue and Queen's Soldier make most appeal of the newcomers before market clues.

Harbour Watch filly. Half-sister to 11.5f/1½m winner Saumur. Dam, 1½m winner who barely stayed 2m, also won over hurdles.

Verdict

Progressive Dawn must enter calculations as she bids to follow up her recent C&D success, but preference is for the returning ENZEMBLE. David Elsworth's charge took giant strides forward from his first to second start last year and he is likely to have strengthened up again during his time away from the track. Boffo also merits consideration following his promising introduction at Lingfield.

Verdict

ENZEMBLE was much improved from debut when second of 16 in a maiden at Sandown (7f, good) in September and sets a clear standard on that form if ready to go on belated return. Staunch is another who's been off the track since showing ability as a juvenile but has the form to play a part, as does penalised-winner Progressive Dawn.

Thrice-raced maiden. Last of 6 in minor event (28/1) at Newmarket (8f, good to firm) 18 days ago. Makes handicap debut.

Verdict

APPOINTMENT ONLY lost little in defeat when three-parts of a length third on his first outing for Neil Mullholland over this C&D earlier in the month and, entitled to improve for that comeback run, he is fancied to score off just 3lb higher. Margie's Choice placed here prior to a tame effort at Newmarket and she can be given another chance, while Dream Of Camelot is no forlorn hope off the same mark as when fourth over 7f here.

Verdict

APPOINTMENT ONLY went close to landing a gamble on return/debut for this yard over C&D 2 weeks ago and there are low-grade races to be won with him on that evidence. Margie's Choice ran her best race when third over this C&D on penultimate start and is feared most in first-time headgear.

Winner at Lingfield in July. 14/1, good second of 11 in handicap at Chepstow (10f, good) 3 days ago. Looks competitive on form.

Verdict

Fortune And Glory is respected off 5lb higher than when winning over C&D last time, while Oskemen has struck the crossbar on his last couple of starts and is likely to be on the premises again. However, with less miles on the clock, and receiving the vote, is CATOCA. A promising debut fourth here shows that she handles the track, and she looks ready to win following placed efforts at both Yarmouth and Newmarket last month.

Verdict

Firmly back on track since equipped with cheekpieces, OSKEMEN is taken to reverse recent C&D placings with Fortune And Glory and emerge on top. Archie Watson's charge was only beaten ½-length by that rival and a 2 lb pull tilts the scales in his favour this time. Catoca is still relatively unexposed and she needs considering, while Rainbow Jazz has been in good heart of late and also has claims.

Verdict

RIGHT DIRECTION has done nothing but improve in three starts thus far and impressed when running away with a novice stakes event over this trip at Doncaster last time. Switched to handicap company off a lenient mark of 85, she is fancied to complete the double, possibly at he main expense of John Gosden's class-dropper Fennaan. Flavius Titus ran much better at Goodwood than the bare result suggests and he can't be ruled out returning to a venue he likes.

Verdict

The vote goes to APEX KING, who has returned to form for new connections the last twice, hitting the crossbar over a mile here prior to finishing a close third at Ascot. He remains on a workable mark and the drop back to 7f may well be in his favour (2-3 over this trip). Tawny Port put in a good shift at Newcastle and merits respect, along with the unexposed Right Direction and Fennaan.

Verdict

VEGAS BOY has impressively notched up a turf double at Windsor and Lingfield and, despite a further 4lb rise, the in-form three-year-old is fancied to round off the hat-trick on his all-weather return. Triple C&D scorer Born To Finish has also put a string of solid performances together and he looks sure to be in the mix again, while Wolverhampton winner Kamra adds further spice to the race.

Verdict

KAMRA responded well to first-time blinkers when scoring at Wolverhampton and, though now 5 lb higher in a better race, he may well follow up if the headgear works equally well second time round. Oh So Sassy will be a danger to all if in the same form as when runner-up at Windsor on penultimate start, and she is feared most ahead of Maakaasib, Born To Finish and the hat-trick seeking Vegas Boy.
