C&D winner. Latest win at Lingfield in November. 10/1, very good third of 11 in handicap at Lingfield (10f, AW) 25 days ago, faring best of those held up. Solid each-way claims.

Verdict

DEREK DUVAL appears to still be improving and Stuart Williams' four-year-old can follow up his Wolverhampton win with the hood and tongue-tie having done the trick last time. C&D winner Cayuga won at Lingfield when last seen in January and has every chance if arriving here in the same form, while Music Major and Gulland Rock are the ones who could be capable of surprising lurking at the foot of the weights.

Verdict

KINGSTON KURRAJONG has yet to trouble the judge following 7 attempts on the AW, but he shaped better than the bare result on debut for this yard over C&D last month. Likely to be shaper now (that was his first run for almost 6 months) and on a potentially handy mark, he could be the answer. Cayuga and Professor are both drawn wide, so the selection may have most to fear from Derek Duval.

Once-raced maiden. Tenth of 11 in maiden (33/1) at Newcastle (8f) on debut. Off 105 days.

Verdict

Jonathan Portman's Mandalayan drew clear of his rivals at Lingfield last time on what was just the Arakan geldings second start and there should be more to come from him. However, the John Gosden-trained Cheveley Park newcomer WEST WING appears set for a bold debut appearance and is from a family loaded with winners. Burrumbeet won nicely enough last time to be considered while Dark Crocodile cannot be ruled out either.

Verdict

On paper WEST WING ticks most of the right boxes and wouldn't need to be out of the ordinary to make a winning debut. Needless to say, confidence levels will heighten if the market speaks in his favour. Mandalayan beat Dark Crocodile in decisive fashion at Lingfield last month and looks a big threat with further improvement anticipated, while Low Profile is also worthy of consideration.

Twice-raced maiden. 66/1, last of 14 in minor event at Chelmsford City (8f). Off 125 days and will be of greater interest in handicaps.

Verdict

WARBURTON disappointed supporters when favourite on his racecourse bow, but Charlie Appleby's son of Dawn Approach can make amends here having shaped with promise on that occasion. Intense Pleasure has been steadily progressing in his two outings and can give him most to think about, while the experienced Passing Clouds and Clive Cox's Come On Come On are others to consider.

Verdict

INTENSE PLEASURE chased home a useful type at Chelmsford and, with further improvement anticipated now upped to a mile, he looks the one to be on. Come On Come On has a bit to prove after reportedly returning lame at Ascot when last seen and Passing Clouds has an air of vulnerability about him. As such, likely improvers Warburton, Mozzafiato and Quality Seeker can do battle for the places.

Verdict

DEADLY REEL improved for a step up in trip latest and, now with the added help of first-time blinkers, Archie Watson's Pour Moi filly looks capable of winning a race of this nature. Mark Johnston is always respected when bringing the horsebox south and his consistent filly Barbara Villiers must enter calculations, while I'm A Believer can enjoy tonight's extended distance and build on her third last time.

Verdict

INDIA made a low-key start to her career at Newmarket in September, but shaped with far greater promise when sixth over a mile here the following month. She should have more to offer now faced with a stiffer test and is worth siding with in this open-looking maiden. Deadly Reel, a creditable third on her AW bow at Chelmsford in November, is next best ahead of Barbara Villiers.

Verdict

Repton probably brings the best overall form to the table and has been gelded over the winter months, but a 145-day absence and drawn in stall 11 makes him of little appeal tonight. Shyron looks held behind Spare Parts based on their C&D outing here earlier this month and it could be worth chancing UNFORGIVING MINUTE, who narrowly missed out in a better race than this at Wolverhampton last time and has the services of Adam Kirby.

Verdict

If able to match something akin to his peak turf form now switched to the AW, REPTON could take some stopping. He was doing his best work at the finish over 6f at Newbury when last seen in October and remains on a potentially-handy mark. Medici Banchiere is also lurking on an attractive mark and will be a threat if responding well to blinkers, while Unforgiving Minute also enters calculations.

Verdict

Paul Midgley runs Related and Ninjago here and both have solid form claims, though neither of them have been on the track so far this year and have to cope with double figure draws in stalls 10 and 11 respectively. Born To Finish seldom runs a bad race here while Dark Side Dream should have come on for his recent reappearance and has Silvestre De Sousa on board. That being said, SPARKALOT is 3-6 over C&D and looks open to further improvement for Simon Dow, so he receives the vote to score.

Verdict

SPARKALOT notched his third victory over this C&D in January and a 5 lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from striking again. Indeed, Simon Dow's charge still has low mileage and is marginally preferred to the consistent Bernie's Boy, who was just touched off by Glory of Paris at Chelmsford earlier this month and is taken to reverse the placings here. Major Valentine also merits respect.
