In frame more often than not over hurdles, third to Sword of Destiny in a Grade 3 novice at Cork on penultimate start. Given a break since disappointing next time and can't be totally ruled out.

Verdict

Lord Gale has had plenty of opportunities for Willie Mullins and was again forced to settle for a supporting role when third at Naas last time. With that in mind, it could be worth siding with the reopposing TROUBLED. Dessie Hughes' gelding got the better of Lord Gale that day (second) and, in receipt of 1lb again, there is nothing to suggest that the form will be reversed. Sheer Genius completes the shortlist.

Verdict

A competitive maiden and the improving Troubled is taken to confirm form with Lord Gale from a Naas. That pair should have too much for the likes of Sheer Genius and Taraval.

Inconsistent but talented hurdler who made the frame in the World Hurdle behind Big Bucks. Satisfactory return from break when second in minor event at Punchestown last time and respected.

Verdict

Karabak is yet to recapture his Cheltenham Grade 2 winning form for new trainer Edward Harty but this looks a more realistic assignment and he shouldn't be completely ruled out. Won In The Dark has played second fiddle for the majority of his career and it would be a slight worry that his last win came over two years ago, so OILILY is given a chance. The nine-year-old mare has placed in Grade 1 and Grade 2 company and notched in a Grade 3 at Tipperary in October 2010.

Verdict

A race that revolves around Pittoni, who could prove a class apart if bouncing back from a poor showing at Cheltenham in December. Most of the others have question marks hanging over them as well, but Won In The Dark and Oilily probably have the most solid place claims.

Made virtually all to win maiden at Down Royal on hurdling debut in November, then improved when sixth in strong novice at Navan. Needs to improve to defy this initial mark.

Verdict

Stonemaster scored on this card for Dessie Hughes 12 months ago but this looks a tough ask at the weights and THE WAY WE WERE is preferred. The form of his maiden win over the C&D is working out well and he looks to have been handed a lenient mark of 122 for his handicap bow. There should be more to come from the six-year-old but don't rule out the chances of The Bull Hayes and That'll Do Me.

Verdict

Jenari is on a rapid upward curve over hurdles and seems just the type to be even better on a sound surface, so he rates as a fairly confident selection from what looks a workable opening mark. The Bull Hayes is another with plenty in his favour, while The Way We Were is the potential fly in the ointment.

Verdict

DONNAS PALM must carry a penalty following his success in Grade 2 company at Navan last month but Noel Meade's 140-rated chaser looks a class apart and is expected to continue the winning trend under Paul Carberry. Slieveardagh arrives boasting a similar profile and punters can take plenty of encouragement from his efforts behind First Lieutenant and Bog Warrior, while of the others, Lead Kindly Light is of interest despite seemingly having some to find following back-to-back wins in handicaps.

Verdict

This looks to rest between Slieveardagh, Donnas Palm and Lead Kindly Light, and they are taken to finish in that order, the first-named sure to benefit from a return to good ground.

Won Pierse Hurdle in 2008/9 but things haven't gone ideally over fences since maiden win in May 2010, managing no better than sixth this term. Probably just making up the numbers again.

Verdict

Leanne returned to the winner's enclosure when landing a 2m4f contest at Clonmel last month and will be hoping for a big run if she's to take her place at the Cheltenham Festival later this month. Preference, however, is for ROBERTO GOLDBACK, who has been keeping good company at Pattern level this term and lost little in defeat when runner-up to Quel Esprit in the Irish Hennessy at Leopardstown last time. Eased into handicap company and dropped back in trip, a big run is expected from the Dessie Hughes-trained 10-year-old. Fourth behind the selection latest, Follow The Plan is also worthy of consideration.

Verdict

Colbert Station looks to have plenty going for him here, back up in trip and with Ruby Walsh in the saddle, and is sure to give a bold show. Montan doesn't always go through with his finishing effort but has been in good heart and looks a solid place option, while Mister First is another to consider.

Won handicap hurdle off 4 lb lower in 2009/10 and signs that he's still capable of that form a couple of times this term, fifth in quite a competitive event at Leopardstown on latest.

Verdict

WHATDOYOUSAY improved for the switch to handicaps when routing the field at Thurles by 7l last month. Oliver McKiernan's charge has been raised 13lb for his troubles but is expected to improve over this longer trip and another bold bid looks on the cards. There is likely better to come from Dessie Hughes' Dun Masc, who is having only his third start in handicaps, while a market move for Victrix Gale may be worth heeding as Tony Martin's charge has hinted at ability in beginners' company and has been handed a workable mark ahead of his handicap bow. Mr Eko and Sea Master are others in with claims in a fiercely competitive heat.

Verdict

Plenty of dead wood in this handicap and it's best to focus on some of the less exposed sorts, notably Whodoyousay who jumped very well when scoring on his handicap debut and has more to offer over fences. Equation and Victrix Gale warrant plenty of consideration from their respective marks.

Related to bumper/hurdle winner Jenari as well as Jetson and Jered, and looked chip off the old block when winning on debut here in January, doing well to score the way things panned out.

Doesn't make much appeal on pedigree (Flat bred), by Refuse To Bend and out of a 7.5f winner, and yard are without a winner since September. Booking of Nina Carberry is a plus, though.

Fetched only €800 as a 3-y-o, and though he finished second in a Thurles bumper on debut, he did hang badly left and needs to prove that wasn't a flash in the pan.

Not badly bred, by Old Vic and out of a fairly useful 2-miler over jumps, and stable can get one ready in this type of event. Watch the market for clues.

Bred more for stamina than a few in this line-up, by Kahyasi and out of a bumper winner, so could prove vulnerable to speedier types. Promising 7 lb claimer takes the ride, though.

Verdict

Jessica Harrington's Jezki sets the form standard based on his C&D victory on debut in January and is likely to have his supporters. However, now carrying a penalty, it might be worth taking him on with FORCED KIN, who shaped with promise in a soft ground bumper at Thurles last month (looked very green) and, in receipt of 7lb from the first-named, may be capable of finding the improvement necessary to go one better today. Newcomer The Big Easy is worth a market check to assess the confidence behind his chances relative to his stablemate.

Verdict

Jessica Harrington looks to have a strong hand here and Jenki is taken to make it 2 out of 2 at the chief expense of his stablemate, The Big Easy. Forced Kin can complete the 3.
