Winner at Bath in May. 2/1, last of 5 in handicap at Epsom (8.5f, good to firm) 16 days ago, possibly amiss. Bit to prove now.

Verdict

ASHAZURI has proven to be a reliable individual since switching to turf in May and has finished in the first three on her last five outings. She ran respectably when third at Epsom last time and remains on the same mark here, where she can bounce back to winning form. Purple Rock took a step forward from his first outing of the season when second at Beverley and he makes his debut for Gay Kelleway, while Archimento disappointed at Brighton but could get back on track now returned to a more suitable trip.

Verdict

PURPLE ROCK stepped up on his return effort when runner-up at Beverley a fortnight ago and is taken to go in at the first time of asking for Gay Kelleway. The consistent Ashazuri looks the obvious danger.

Soldier Hollow filly. Dam, runner-up at 10.5f in France, half-sister to smart 1m-11f winner Salve Germania out of smart 11f winner Salve Regina. Makes plenty of appeal on paper.

Verdict

Deep Sea ran well on her second outing when fourth to the impressive Pilaster at Kempton and she is respected with likely improvement to come from James Fanshawe's filly. However, she comes up against two well-bred fillies in the shape of Rare, a half-sister to 1000 Guineas and Irish Oaks winner Blue Bunting, and ALEXANA, who comes from a stout staying family which includes the likes of Duncan and Gretchen. Preference is for the latter as she is likely to be the more forward of the pair.

Verdict

This may go to one of the newcomers and slight preference is for ALEXANA, who is related to plenty of winners and hails from a yard with a fine strike-rate with its 3-y-o's at this course. Rare also boasts a fine pedigree and is feared most.

Thrice-raced maiden. First run since leaving Denis Quinn when last of 4 in minor event (100/1) at Brighton (9.9f, good to firm) 18 days ago, slowly away. Hooded for 1st time. Makes handicap debut.

Verdict

TIMOSHENKO has improved considerably for a step up in trip on his last couple of starts in handicaps and there is every chance he could have more to offer with the application of first-time cheekpieces. Giovanni Medici also improved for going up half a mile in distance when second at Kempton in April and he has a tongue-tie to potentially eke out improvement, while blinkers could make a difference to Spice War.

Verdict

TIMOSHENKO is 2-2 in handicaps this season and, with further improvement likely now taking another step up in trip, the hat-trick beckons for this unexposed 3-y-o. Space War also appears to be going the right way and gets the nod ahead of Giovanni Medici for forecast purposes.

One win from 26 Flat runs. Winner at Yarmouth in June. 8/1, sixth of 7 in handicap at Yarmouth (5.2f, good to firm) 3 days ago, unable to sustain effort. 3 lb 'wrong' at the weights.

Verdict

Oeil De Tigre warrants plenty of respect in his bid to complete the four-timer, but he has a further 7lb rise to cope worth and isn't partnered by regular rider Sophie Ralston this time. Instead, the vote goes to PORTO FERRO, who has won twice at this venue in the past, including last time out, and he teams up with the excellent Nicola Currie. Hollie Doyle is the only jockey in the line-up who doesn't claim and she gets the leg up on May Remain, who is entitled to improve for his comeback fourth at Windsor.

Verdict

SHAMSHON isn't the easiest to catch right but he's now 14 lb below his last winning mark and could be the answer if responding well to the new headgear. Oeil De Tigre arrives here at the top of his game and has to be feared, while Babyfact also needs a second look and Porto Ferro isn't without each-way hope.

Verdict

SOCIETY SHOCK gamely saw off a subsequent winner two starts ago and he ran a lot better than the finishing position suggests at Newmarket latest, when only beaten three and three-quarter lengths. Now making his handicap debut off a mark of 78, he looks sure to play a leading role. Temple of Wonder could improve for being gelded and for stepping up in trip so he must enter calculations, while Barend Boy also lines up as a first-time gelding.

Verdict

The form of SOCIETY SHOCK's Goodwood victory is working out pretty well and he is better judged on that performance than at Newmarket last time (did too much too soon). Jamie Osborne's charge is taken to get back on track now pitched into a nursery. Temple of Wonder and Barend Boy can fill the places.

Verdict

GOOD FORTUNE appears to be improving between runs and a reproduction of the form which saw him finish third in a novice contest at Newmarket last month would put him firmly in the mix. Big Ian and Fearless Warrior are ones to monitor closely in the betting on their racecourse debuts, while 81-rated Jamie Osborne inmate Nakakande shapes as if she's worth a try over 7f and could also take a hand in the finish.

Verdict

GOOD FORTUNE stepped up plenty on his debut form when third over this trip at Newmarket 4 weeks ago and gets the narrow vote to make it third time lucky. Fearless Warrior is a most appealing newcomer representing Ralph Beckett and he is feared most ahead of Nakakande and another newcomer, Power of Life.

Unreliable individual. One win from 27 Flat runs. Winner here in June. Bit below form fourth of 8 in handicap (6/1) at Brighton (8f, good to firm) 11 days ago.

Verdict

DEAR BRUIN romped home by five lengths over this track and trip last time and although the handicapper has reacted with a 10lb rise, she could follow up with a repeat performance. Violet's Lads finished a creditable second on the Polytrack here in January and is weighted to go well off 1lb lower on turf, while Flying Sakhee, a C&D winner, could appreciate the drop back from a mile after fading into fourth at Brighton.

Verdict

DEAR BRUIN was a pretty emphatic winner over C&D on her most recent outing, and whilst that hasn't gone unnoticed by the handicapper, more of the same should see her firmly in the mix. Violet's Lads and Red Gunner join her on the shortlist.
