Quirky sort. Twenty three runs since last win in 2015. 4/1, 3 lengths fifth of 7 to Arctic Sea in handicap at this C&D (AW) 24 days ago, merely closing up late.

Verdict

ROBIN WEATHERS shaped with plenty of encouragement on his first start for Eve Johnson Houghton at Nottingham and there is every chance he has improvement to come with not having many miles on the clock. Arctic Sea was a winner over C&D last time and warrants respect, along with Agar's Plough, second beaten a neck at Chelmsford last month. Collate makes some appeal on stable debut for Amy Murphy and having had a wind operation since last running.

Verdict

Wind surgery during the summer has clearly transformed GOODWOOD SHOWMAN, and given he's unexposed at 1m, he could easily supplement his Kempton win from 5 lb higher. Al Reeh looked a bit awkward at Nottingham but cheekpieces may help him chart a straighter course, while Arctic Sea also needs considering despite a wide draw.

Verdict

LIVING LEGEND looks likely to improve from his debut fifth at Bath, where he was unlucky not to finish closer having stumbled over a furlong out. Despite the quick turnaround, the booking of Silvestre De Sousa has to be noted and there could well be a change to front-running tactics with that experience under his belt. Barsa Kelmes is an interesting newcomer for Michael Attwater being a half-brother to the useful Al Jellaby, while Debbonair looks capable of building on his Goodwood fourth.

Verdict

A race for potential rather than form in the book. CHINESE ALPHABET and Living Legend both shaped well on their respective debuts despite doing it in different fashions, with the former marginally preferred. Indian Copper and All Points West tick a few boxes on paper starting out and need monitoring in the betting.

Verdict

SAM COOKE showed considerable promise on his debut at Kempton when chasing home a rival who already had race experience in Artois. He is a half-brother to Group 2 placed Room Key and should have no issue picking up a contest of this nature. First-time blinkers could see Nina Petrovna find some improvement having disappointed at Epsom when last seen, while Hummdinger can benefit from stepping up a furlong.

Verdict

SAM COOKE looks sure to improve after his promising second on debut at Kempton recently and can get off the mark. Newcomers Ticklish and Twenty Years On make a bit more appeal as potential dangers than the exposed pair of Beauty Concept and Nina Petrovna.

Verdict

Ian Williams' SWORDBILL has racked up a quickfire hat-trick in staying contests on the all-weather and, despite having to shoulder a 12lb penalty, he appears the one to beat following another comfortable win at Chelmsford over the weekend. General Zoff chased the selection home at Kempton last week and is interesting off the same mark with cheekpieces now tried, while Moans Cross is a solid stayer worthy of respect.

Verdict

GENERAL ZOFF was beaten 4 lengths by Swordbill at Kempton last week, but he was hampered inside the final furlong and enjoys a healthy pull at the weights with that rival. As such, WIlliam Muir's charge is taken to emerge on top this time. That was Swordbill's third win on the bounce and, with further improvement possible, he is the clear main danger. Moans Cross is best of the rest.

Verdict

The 250,000gns Dark Angel gelding WELSH LORD was eased down when notching up a three-length victory on his seasonal reappearance earlier this month and the lightly-raced Godolphin charge should be more than capable of another bold showing having thrived for the step up to this trip at Chelmsford. Pontefract winner Hareeq was somewhat disappointing on soft ground at Carlisle but is still of interest going up in trip and running on the all-weather for the first time, while Dono Di Dio and My Heart have both hit the frame of late and are others to note.

Verdict

WELSH LORD put up a dominant display when an all-the-way winner at Chelmsford 19 days ago, and given his pedigree and connections, is expected to go on progressing. Dono Di Dio and My Heart are feared most in receipt of plenty of weight.

Verdict

It might pay to side with BAYSTON HILL, who had a subsequent winner three-parts of a length behind when runner-up over this trip at Leicester last time and he is also a dual Lingfield winner. Spanish History has gone unpunished for his latest third-placed finish at Bath and he is likely to be in the mix again, while Silvestre De Sousa is an interesting jockey booking on the unexposed Staunch.

Verdict

BAYSTON HILL's last 2 wins have come over C&D and another victory could be on the cards after a fine run at Leicester. Ban Shoof is another who goes well around here and is handicapped to win again. Cheeky Rascal and Spanish History merit consideration also.

Verdict

KHAFOOQ has improved with each start in novice stakes company and now starts handicap life off a fair mark of 70. He shades the verdict ahead of another handicap debutant in Parliament House, who wasn't beaten far at Hamilton last time and is rated 5lb lower, while Four Wheel Drive has plenty of experience on his side and has yet to run a bad race.

Verdict

No winners in the field and KEYHAVEN is selected to be the one to open their account. She seems sure to improve now handicapping for James Fanshawe and her speedy dam was a winner on her only start on AW. Parliament House and Khafooq are a couple of other well-bred sorts from top stables who may do better now contesting nurseries.
