Verdict

Victory Trumper has a clear chance on these terms but there's a real question mark as to whether he retains the form he showed during 2006 as his three starts since returning from a 12-month break haven't been inspiring. Consequently, he is passed over in favour of HANSOMELLE, who also meets most of these on better terms than he would in a handicap. The six-year-old wasn't disgraced over hurdles recently and should be up to winning a race of this nature. Samuel Charles may give him most to do.

Verdict

A competitive contest in which a case can be made for all eight runners. However, this may be within the capability of the Eve Johnson Houghton-trained HOBSON, who lost little in defeat when fourth to Hadaf on his all-weather bow at the back-end of last season. He was a shade too keen in first-time blinkers that day but, with the headgear now dispensed with, he should settle better and give a good account. What Katie Did and We Have A Dream head the dangers but Young Ivanhoe is also respected.

Verdict

PERCOLATOR had Joli Haven and Lois Darlin back in sixth and eighth respectively when chasing home ready winner She's A Shaw Thing at Warwick last week and is taken to go one better this time. The selection and Lois Darlin were both the subject of significant market support that day and while the latter is bound to be all the better for the experience, Paul Cole's charge should also come on for the run and is taken to uphold the form. Grand Plan is bred to handle this surface and is an interesting newcomer.

Verdict

Having contested better races than this at the end of the turf season last year, MURRIN has been cut some slack by the handicapper and although many of these have the advantage of being race-fit, Terry Mills's charge has slipped to a fair mark and may be equal to this task. Paradise Dancer and King's Ransom may cut each others throats up front as both like to dominate, setting the race up for the selection. Convivial Spirit is feared most.

Verdict

Hustle looks certain to go well but MASLAHA impressed with the way she spread-eagled the field when running out the three-and-a-half length winner of a C&D fillies' maiden and it's likely that there is more to come from this daughter of Selkirk. Keep Discovering hails from a stable in cracking form and is better than he showed on his latest outing but Hustle is the chief threat despite never having tackled this surface. My Mate Pete is worth a second look, particularly if the market speaks in his favour.

Verdict

Rock Peak made an eye-catching debut on turf at Sandown in September and is respected, as is David Elsworth's Silver Waters after he chased home the impressive Greylami at Kempton latest. But Derby entry MONTEVETRO looks the part of paper, being a son of Galileo and related to numerous winners, including French 2,000 Guineas hero Victory Note. Richard Hannon's charge wouldn't need to be out of the ordinary to make a winning debut. Monterrico looks a big danger.

Verdict

Some interesting types making their handicap debuts here, not least COLORATURA, who makes plenty of appeal with Ed Dunlop's yard in good form. The Cape Cross filly failed to trouble the judge in three decent maidens as a juvenile but she always looked the type to make a better three-year-old and may be fit enough for her reappearance to land this off a fair-looking mark. Saafend Geezer is worth a cursory market check but the chief threat to the selection may be Ledgerwood.
