Sister to a fairly useful chaser and has top-class staying chaser Spartan Missile further back in pedigree, but has shown very little in 2 starts over hurdles (distant last of 4 on debut).

Verdict

SIMON GRAY is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles. He has clearly had plenty of problems since winning his last three Flat starts for Richard Hannon in the summer of 2009, but has joined top NH owner J P McManus and is sure to have been well schooled. Moyaliff is entitled to have learnt a great deal from the fifth on his hurdling debut at Cork last month and warrants plenty of respect, while point-to-point scorer Knocksquire is another worthy of consideration.

Verdict

Simon Gray is a very interesting recruit to hurdling but his fitness has to be taken on trust after more than 2½ years off so a tentative vote goes to Play The Market who is open to improvement in this sphere. Point winners Moyaliff and Clear Hills are others worth considering.

Patchy record since landing Punchestown maiden hurdle in 2010/11. Mixed hurdling and chasing so far this term, not disgraced in C&D handicap hurdle won by Colls Corner latest, and not without hope.

Verdict

SPORTSMASTER could prove difficult to beat returning to the scene of his workmanlike success last month. He backed that performance up with a respectable sixth in Grade 1 company at Leopardstown two weeks ago and needs to go extremely close on this handicap debut if he's to take up entries in either the Fred Winter or Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham next month. Rory Anna had Sorceror (9th), Baby Whizz (12th) and Rocky Wednesday (13th) all in behind when fifth in fifth in a competitive race at Leopardstown latest and should be able to confirm placings, while Red Calima has each-way claims.

Verdict

This should go the way of Sportsmaster whose weight-for-age allowance makes him stand out like a sore thumb on his handicap bow. Idarah and Luddsdenene are viable each-way alternatives.

Smart in bumpers/over hurdles, winning Grade 1 novice at Punchestown in May. Going right way over fences too, taking maiden at Fairyhouse in January then fourth of 4 in Grade 1 at Leopardstown.

Verdict

RATHLIN appears to be getting the hang of things over fences and could take all the beating here. After a slow start, he has come good at Fairyhouse on his last couple of starts and it's interesting that Davy Russell opts to rid him today over the other Gigginstown runner, Gates Of Rome. Colm Murphy's gelding has to be respected after turning over the high-class Shinrock Paddy over 2m3f here latest, but Shot From The Hip is most feared dropping down from Grade 1 company.

Verdict

This looks to concern Rathlin and Shot From The Hip and it's the former who boasts the stronger credentials, his jumping clearly an asset and very impressive on his last 2 outings. Gates of Rome looks best of the rest.

Verdict

Willie Mullins saddled the winner of this race 12 months ago and appears to have another cracking chance with FELIX YONGER. Quite what he beat at Downpatrick last time is up for question, but he could barely have done the job any easier and a trio of Cheltenham Festival entries next month show that he's held in high regard. Joxer is undoubtedly a lot better than showing at Punchestown latest and can be given another chance, while Texas Jack and Touch Back could both benefit from dropping back half-a-mile in trip.

Verdict

Felix Yonger has created a good impression since joining this yard and can continue his climb up the ladder with success here. The remainder all have question marks over them, but Texas Jack and Joxer could give the selection most to do.

Useful chaser who turned in a career-best effort in a handicap at Gowran last time, winning by 11 lengths under a well-judged ride from this claimer. Minor role is probably most she can hope for.

Verdict

This looks an ideal opportunity for TRANQUIL SEA to get his Ryanair preparations back on track. Edward O'Grady's ten-year-old missed last year's Festival after an unsatisfactory scope and hasn't built upon his seasonal reappearance victory at Clonmel as hoped, with his declining official rating indicative of the way his season has panned out. Nevertheless, on his favoured soft ground, and with C&D winning form to his name, a big run looks on the cards from the 2010 John Durkan (Grade 1) winner. Seabass has progressed through the handicap ranks this term and is feared most, with the enigmatic Zaarito in with place claims if putting his best foot forward.

Verdict

Seabass is one of the most progressive chasers in training at the moment and, although the drop back to 2m isn't ideal, he looks the one to beat here with both Zaarito and Tranquil Sea having questions to answer at present.

In the twilight of his career but undoubtedly retains ability, far from disgraced back in this sphere when 25 lengths fourth of 18 to Really Unique at Limerick (2¾m) latest. 2 lb lower now.

Verdict

CASTLE WINGS again found Folsom Blue too good in a Listed hurdle at Clonmel earlier in the month but moves away from that rival now sent handicapping and makes plenty of appeal off an opening rating of 126. One In A Milan has been handed a 5lb rise for finishing a tight second over 2m6f at Limerick in December and should give a good account now stepping up to 3m, likewise Milano Magic who shaped with promise off this mark at Fairyhouse latest. Our Victoria has been running in some competitive Grade 3 chases lately and is respected upon his return to the smaller obstacles off a 15lb lower hurdles rating.

Verdict

Beckett Rock and One In A Milan are closely matched based on their meeting at Limerick in December, with the latter enjoying a 2 lb pull for a ½-length beating. He may just edge it this time but that duo may both be thwarted by Our Victoria who reverts to hurdles on a mark 13 lb lower than that off which she was runner-up in a handicap chase at Fairyhouse in December.

Half-brother to a modest staying hurdler who looks up against it on his belated debut.

Verdict

Rory O'Moore finished a well-held fifth behind a couple of Supreme Novices' Hurdle contenders (Trifolium and Simenon) at Punchestown earlier in the month and is afforded plenty of respect now pitched back into a bumper. However, there was much to like about THE PAPARRAZI KID's winning debut at Navan earlier in the month, when travelling supremely well and putting the race to bed with ease, and he shades the vote with the likelihood of more improvement to come under the care of Willie Mullins. Too Scoops is going the right way judging by his latest victory at Fairyhouse and makes more appeal than newcomer Will Dobbin.

Verdict

Rory O'Moore is likely to make a bold bid from the front but it is difficult to oppose The Paparrazi Kid who looked a horse of immense potential when running out a wide-marging winner on debut. Too Scoops isn't one to dismiss lightly.
