Verdict

There was a strong word for FOX POWER prior to his introduction at Glorious Goodwood and although he had to settle for third behind the smart Duke Of Hazzard, the penny eventually dropped with him and he should be all the wiser for the experience. Cloak And Dagger stepped forward from his debut to go close at Haydock, while there are some interesting newcomers in the line-up, namely Cap Francais, Global Quality and Athmad.

Verdict

FOX POWER was strong in the betting and ultimately shaped with a good deal of promise on debut at Goodwood 2 weeks ago, getting the hang of things late on to take third. He looks sure to improve for that initial experience and can make it second time lucky. Cloak and Dagger comfortably rates the chief threat, particularly judged on his Haydock second. Cap Francais appeals most of the newcomers.

Foaled March 3. Kingman filly. Dam winner up to 1m (Matron Stakes and 2-y-o 7f winner). One to take seriously on debut.

Verdict

Fox Premier was fancied to perform better than he did on his Sandown bow and should know more about what is required of him. Ginger Fox got going when the winner had flown at Windsor, while Sheila's Showcase was an encouraging third at Salisbury, but there are some good pedigrees lurking among the unraced brigade. Sea The Stars colt Boerhan cost 270,000gns, and Jaleel also appeals, but DESIROUS is a daughter of Kingman out of Matron Stakes heroine Emulous, and that illustrious breeding gets her the nod.

Verdict

Though by Sea The Stars, BOERHAN has enough speed and precocity on the dam's side of his pedigree to think he can deal with this test at the first attempt so, as an expensive yearling in excellent hands, he boasts strong claims of making a winning start in what looks a potentially informative maiden. Desirous also makes appeal on pedigree and Fox Premier is the pick of those with form.

Off the mark in Wolverhampton maiden in December but has struggled in handicaps subsequently.

Verdict

Exec Chef made a successful start to life with Jim Boyle at Lingfield, at the chief expense of GAME PLAYER, but Roger Varian's grey was returning from a year on the sidelines and with the cobwebs blown away, can gain his revenge on marginally better terms. Blistering Bob bolted up on his handicap bow at Windsor so it no surprise the assessor has reacted with an 11lb hike. Keeper's Choice struck over C&D prior to coming up short in a competitive Newmarket event, while Hombre Casado will appreciate the return to a mile.

Verdict

GAME PLAYER should have come on for his Lingfield reappearance when second to Exec Chef, and it would be no surprise to see him improve past that one now handicapping. The big danger is Blistering Bob, who won in good style on his handicap bow at Windsor. Keeper's Choice is another to note.

Won 3 times last year and should have come on for Salisbury return after 11 months away in May. Off again since and can contest weaker races than this.

Verdict

CLIFFS OF DOVER put a Kempton no-show behind him with a demolition job at Haydock last week, and Paul Nicholls is wise to get his smart hurdler out quickly under a penalty before his 11lb rise comes into effect. He can thwart the hat-trick designs of Saroog, who has been dominant over 1m6f at Goodwood and Sandown. Sky Eagle didn't entirely convince on his first try at that distance at Goodwood but remains a stayer with a future, and What A Welcome can't be written off, despite his winning spree coming to an end at Ascot.

Verdict

SKY EAGLE remains a horse to follow, a massive 4-y-o who will only get better with time, and who will be much better suited by this track than Goodwood. The improving Saroog is another to keep onside, while Cliffs of Dover will be a big player if allowed his own way in front again.

Confirmed debut promise to win at Beverley/Chepstow, and not beaten far switched to a nursery at Newmarket 2 weeks ago. Doesn't have that much to find.

Verdict

The decision to bring LETHAL PROMISE over in search of Listed honours can pay dividends because Willie McCreery's youngster was only beaten four lengths into fourth in a Curragh Group 3 last time, and the front two have franked the form since. Come On Leicester was ahead of Shumookhi when fifth in the Queen Mary, but their careers have gone in different directions since. Heartwarming is a half-sister to last year's Queen Mary winner Heartache and displayed plenty of the family talent at Sandown, while Scintilating is surely better than she showed in the Princess Margaret.

Verdict

LETHAL PROMISE was far from disgraced in a Group 3 at the Curragh last time and the return to 5f can see her resume winning ways back down in class. Of her rivals, Swiss Air, Heartwarming and Scintilating appeal as having the most potential and are feared most.

Is 3 from her last 4, continually pulling out a bit more, and although the margin of victory was narrow at Yarmouth that tends to be her way. Thriving and sure to remain of interest.

Verdict

Kodiac Express' Yarmouth victory made it three wins from her last four starts, and Billy Dylan also arrives on the back of a success after recapturing some form at Ripon. Jashma is admirably consistent but this may be fought out by ISLAND OF LIFE and Awesome. William Haggas' filly had her rival a length and three places behind her when second at Ascot and although she has since disappointed at Wolverhampton, getting back on turf should enable her to show her true colours.

Verdict

ISLAND OF LIFE, like a few of his main rivals, would be scuppered if they went no pace here, but she's the one to beat aside from that, on the up and shaping as if ready to defy her current mark under the right circumstances. Foxy Forever is on a good mark and Jashma will provide a big danger if breaking on terms.

120,000 gns yearling. Half-sister to smart winner up to 1m Hors de Combat. Fared best of newcomers when third in Newmarket maiden last month, but ran green in a hood at Goodwood.

Verdict

ALHAKMAH was sent off favourite for a hot maiden at Glorious Goodwood and while she didn't quite do enough to prevent a big shock, there was a lot of merit in her effort to fill the runner-up berth and she should come on leaps and bounds for the experience. Yourtimeisnow, Munaajaat and Isabella Red were adrift of her on the Sussex Downs, and it could be left to one of the newcomers to give Richard Hannon's filly most to fear, with 400,000-euro purchase East Coast Swing of particular interest,.

Verdict

ALHAKMAH is a half-sister to several winners, and she won't be long scoring herself judged on her excellent second from an unpromising position at Goodwood a fortnight ago. Yourtimeisnow and Munaajaat were both behind the selection that day, so newcomers Heritage and Stay Forever may give her most to do.
