Verdict

NAVAJO STAR is 1-1 at this venue and looks of interest here on stable bow for Robyn Brisland, who himself is 2-7 with runners at this venue since the Tapeta track opened up for business. Joe Fanning is also in fine form (6-15 in the last two weeks at the time of writing), and this four-year-old could be fairly handicapped off 55. Buthelezi was well backed to no avail at Southwell last time but has now dropped 33lb in the last year, while Traditional Dancer and Irish raider Empresario are others to note.

Verdict

The one who appeals most is NAVAJO STAR, who scored twice within the space of a week in October, including over C&D. She has failed to fire at Kempton the last twice but it would be no surprise were she to bounce back on debut for a new yard with Joe Fanning in the hot-seat. Going back up in trip should suit Buthelezi and he is feared most ahead of Traditional Dancer and Empresario.

8/11, career best when winning 9-runner handicap at this C&D 28 days ago, always holding on. Up 5 lb for that but has to be feared in his bid to complete the hat-trick.

Verdict

Paddyplex takes a big drop in class after an admirable second here last time out and looks to get this trip well, while Lexington Law isn't the easiest of rides but seemed suited by first-time cheekpieces back on the Flat when winning at Lingfield in December. Theglasgowwarrior looks progressive but this can go the way of new David O'Meara recruit STONIFIC. A useful type in France for Andre Fabre, this yard often thrives with such types and an opening UK handicap mark of 79 looks there to be taken advantage of.

Verdict

There may well be more to come from PADDYPLEX, who went down all guns blazing when upped to this trip in a class 2 C&D handicap last month. Nudged up just 1 lb for that and back down in class, he will take plenty of stopping. Theglasgowwarrior made it 2-2 over this C&D last time and is an obvious threat, while Royal Reserve also needs considering.

Verdict

GALILEE CHAPEL has bumped into a progressive rival the last twice, though he did get closer to the winner at the second time of asking when fourth and could be poised to strike now dropped in class. A 2lb drop in the weights looks generous, allowing him to run in this 0-60 grade, and he can account for Highwayman, who was second in a weaker race last time, and Tred Softly, who is nicely drawn here but isn't the most consistent of sorts.

Verdict

TRED SOFTLY hasn't been firing on all cylinders of late, but he's slipped to a career-low mark as a consequence and could be the answer to this open-looking handicap. Highwayman merits respect on the back of a solid effort at Chelmsford a fortnight ago and Optima Petamus isn't without hope. However, the selection may have most to fear from top-weight Polar Forest.

Verdict

OUTLAW TORN hasn't been out of the top two on his last three outings and Richard Guest's all-weather specialist can play a leading part once again here. The handler saddles a handy second string in C&D winner Bollihope, while Leonard Thomas looks to be slowly being brought to the boil by Rebecca Menzies and any market support needs to be noted.

Verdict

The vote goes to BOLLIHOPE, who wasn't beaten far when fourth over C&D off a 4 lb higher mark in October and he has undergone a wind operation subsequent to his latest start. Stable companion Outlaw Torn has been in good heart of late and may emerge as the main danger. Stoneboat Bill also has claims but his strike rate is hardly compelling, a remark which also applies to Leonard Thomas.

Winner at Tramore in August. 8/1, fifth of 8 in handicap at this course (16.2f) 22 days ago, left poorly placed. Significantly down in trip, a factor which may count against her.

Verdict

The application of blinkers could be the key to HENPECKED landing this contest having hit the frame on her last two outings over further. Despite not yet having won a race, she should be suited by the drop back in trip and new headgear. Iconic Belle is on the up and has to be considered, while Perceived came out third in a bunch finish at Wolverhampton last time and may be capable of making amends off the same mark.

Verdict

It's fair to say that NORMANDIE LADY's effort at Kempton last month was underwhelming, but she was returning from a break on that occasion and may well capitalise on this drop in class. Indeed, she was successful on her sole previous start in 0-75 company and is well worth another crack at this trip. With Rubenesque expected to find this trip too sharp, Henpecked and Perceived can fill the places.

Verdict

SYMBOLIC STAR took his C&D record to three wins from four when scoring in good style last month and another bold bid beckons. This is tougher off a 6lb higher mark but he won with plenty to spare that day, the form has been boosted by the fourth winning since and he can improve for that first start since August. Newmarket Warrior has run well in all three starts here since scoring over this track and trip in October, including a good third in a similar event off this mark latest, and should give another good account. Likewise Wonderfillo, runner-up on both starts since returning from a break for new handler David O'Meara, and recent C&D winner King Oswald.

Verdict

WONDERFILLO arguably produced his best effort yet when runner-up on handicap bow at Wolverhampton, and the 4-y-o is taken to go one better this time. Trooper's Gold was rather disappointing in a couple of turf handicaps last year, but his juvenile campaign was promising and he's not one to write off just yet. King Oswald, Cadeau Magnifique and Symbolic Star are others to consider.

Verdict

After being detached early doors, MARIETTA ROBUSTI caught the eye staying on well for fifth once the penny dropped on her debut over this trip at Chelmsford and should know much more about the game now. Mick Channon's charge could represent better value here than Regina Nostra, who was a little disappointing over that same C&D first time out but the Cheveley Park-owned William Haggas inmate is sure to prove popular with that run under her belt. Porrima showed promise when third at Thirsk in the summer and is interesting on her return.

Verdict

This step up in trip will suit MAYFAIR ROCK, who started to get the hang of things late on when third over 5f here on last month's debut. With improvement on the cards, she looks the one to be on. Regina Nostra was very green on her recent introduction at Chelmsford but should sharper this time, while Zadorra, Marietta Robusti and Meerpat can all be expected to step up on their debut efforts.
