Verdict

SOUND AND SILENCE has had a highly productive two-year-old campaign and arguably produced a career best effort on his latest start in a Group 3 contest at Maisons-Laffitte. Charlie Appleby has enjoyed a fantastic spell with his juveniles throughout 2017 and this looks another opportunity to continue their consistent form. Abel Handy finished runner-up behind the selection at York's Ebor meeting in a Listed event and has to enter calculations, along with Battle Of Jericho, who could well improve for a drop back in trip. Ripon maiden winner Mokaatil is another to note.

Verdict

TO WAFIJ was rather disappointing when only sixth behind Sound And Silence at York, but he is likely to be seen in an altogether better light on this stiffer track. Indeed, Roger Varian's charge may still have more to offer and is taken to reverse placings with the Godolphin colt this time. Abel Handy and Pursuing The Dream should both be on the premises, too.

Verdict

Gavota was an eye-catcher despite losing her unbeaten record over C&D in the Rockfel when third behind Juliet Capulet having looked uneasy on the undulations of the track. Better ground and the experience gained last time could easily both prove the deciding factors between victory and defeat. Dark Rose Angel was just denied in the final strides by Laurens in the May Hill at Doncaster and the booking of Frankie Dettori looks a positive to her chances, but she will need to be on her A game to stop I CAN FLY. Aidan O'Brien's runners tend to improve plenty for their debut runs and the daughter of Fastnet Rock won impressively at Dundalk first time out a fortnight ago. Others at bigger prices to consider include Listed winner Anna Nerium and Altyn Orda, who was beaten by a subsequent Listed winner in a C&D maiden last time.

Verdict

While this represents a significant step up in class for I CAN FLY, she could be something out of the ordinary judged on her most impressive debut display at Dundalk. The Fastnet Rock filly gets the nod ahead of another highly promising type in Gavota, who didn't get the rub of the green when third in the Rockfel here a fortnight ago. Dark Rose Angel is also firmly in the reckoning.

Useful at 2 yrs and built on solid reappearance effort when striking in Group 3 company at Naas in May. Did little wrong when third back at 6f there last time, but this is an even tougher assignment.

Verdict

It can be argued that LIMATO has not been at his very best this year but he has still placed in two Group 1 sprints. He was only beaten by half-a-length in the Lennox Stakes last time and will be tough to beat if the ground stays good or better. Massaat returned from a lengthy break to land the Hungerford at Newbury and he was not disgraced behind Ribchester in the Prix du Moulin last month. Dabyah is unbeaten over 7f but does have to prove herself against the boys, while Cougar Mountain is not a prolific winner but holds each-way claims.

Verdict

LIMATO failed to fire on all cylinders at Goodwood last time, but this classy 5-y-o sets a very good standard judged on his solid placed efforts in the Diamond Jubilee and July Cup prior to that. The drying ground will be in his favour and he should prove a tough nut to crack. Massaat wasn't disgraced in the Prix du Moulin last month and is feared most ahead of Dabyah and Dutch Connection.

Looked very promising initially, but has finished behind stablemates Happily and Magical at the Curragh on her last 2 starts, and there's no real reason to believe she will fare any better here.

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien has won the last three renewals of this race and there is every chance that this event goes his way as well. HAPPILY is the pick of Ryan Moore having beaten the colts in Jean-Luc Lagardere last time and this galloping mile should help her cause. Magical beat the selection in August and was a short-head behind her in the Moyglare, but she was slightly disappointing in the Marcel Boussac earlier this month. September is another Ballydoyle representative to note but the Chesham winner has ground to find with her stablemates. Laurens is the pick of the home team based on her May Hill victory while recent course maiden winner Magic Lily has plenty of potential.

Verdict

A fourth consecutive victory in this race beckons for Aidan O'Brien, who saddles HAPPILY, Magical and September. Happily got the better of her stablemates in the Moyglare last month and, having subsequently beaten the colts in France and with Ryan Moore keeping the faith, the Galileo filly will prove hard to beat. Laurens shouldn't be underestimated and Magic Lily is an unknown quantity.

Winner of back-to-back Windsor handicaps in August and lost little caste in defeat when runner-up at Leicester last month. However, latest effort at Beverley not so good and he's up in class now.

Verdict

This looks to have been the plan for quite some time for Torcello, who carries a penalty after his course and distance demolition job 15 days ago. The three-year-old has plenty of scope for progress but looks likely to be short enough in the betting and it might be worth chancing HERE AND NOW, who was an impressive third in the Melrose at York when last seen. A winner against St Leger third Stradivarius at Chester earlier this season, Ralph Beckett's charge could still be fairly handicapped off 91 and has a nice profile for a contest such as this. Intrepidly blew his chance at the start last time out and remains open to improvement now under Frankie Dettori, while High End is another to consider.

Verdict

Perhaps if DUKE OF BRONTE represented a more fashionable yard he would be significantly shorter in the betting. Indeed, there was no fluke about his victory in a valuable Ascot handicap last month and a 5 lb rise may not be enough to prevent him from striking again. Winston C makes strong each-way appeal back at this trip, while Humble Ben, Torcello and Intrepidly are others to consider.

Doesn't appeal as a likely first-time-out winner on paper, but eye-catching jockey booking and worth a peek in the betting.

Didn't shape badly on debut here (July course), but fair to say she didn't build on that next time. Still, interesting that Dettori partners her as opposed to likely-looking newcomer Gumriyah.

Sister to smart winner up to 9.5f Ihtimal and half-sister to 3 winners, including very smart winner up to 9.5f Thunder Snow. Lots to like on paper and very much one to note in the betting.
