Made plenty of appeal on paper but it was disconcerting to see him fold tamely on debut over 7f here last week. However, he is in good hands, so no surprise to see him do better.

Made plenty of appeal on paper but ultimately showed only greenness when nearer last than first on debut at Goodwood (6f) at the start of the month. Still, it is early days.

Verdict

KHAADEM showed a fair amount of promise despite being beaten 11 lengths into third by Coventry winner Calyx over C&D in June, keeping on well after running green throughout. The son of Dark Angel will have benefited hugely for the experience and can put that to good use. Aquanura is a half-brother to stayer Leoncavallo and warrants respect on his racecourse debut, while Mawsool, whose dam won the Albany, completes the shortlist.

Verdict

KHAADEM showed a good deal of promise without really being seen to best effect when third behind subsequent Group 2 winner Calyx on C&D debut in June, and with significant improvement expected, he can make it second time lucky. Aquanura is a most appealing newcomer for a powerful outfit and he can emerge as the chief danger.

Has won 3 handicaps over 6f and went off too hard over 5f at Windsor last time. Ran well in a class 4 over C&D penultimate start.

Verdict

STAXTON gained a deserved success when showing an excellent attitude over C&D at the end of last month and there is every chance the son of Equiano could find further improvement for a pair of cheekpieces. Jawwaal could also take a step forward with headgear potentially aiding his chance, while Spoof will benefit from a return to handicap company and for the step up to 6f having struggled in a Listed dash. There is more to come from Buffer Zone too.

Verdict

The strong-travelling JAWWAAL remains the type to do even better over sprint trips and can bounce back to winning ways with headgear fitted. Staxton also goes in first-time cheekpieces and likely has a big prize in him for Tim Easterby. Buffer Zone completes the shortlist.

Verdict

GOODNIGHT GIRL has been in tremendous form lately, winning three of her last four starts, and her most recent success at Windsor was a career-best effort, hosing up by six lengths. She takes her chance under a penalty and can continue her excellent run. My Amigo ran well in the Stewards' Cup consolation race and can play a part off 3lb lower, while Lucky Beggar and Vincenzo Coccotti look best of the remainder.

Verdict

A typically competitive renewal with the vote in favour of 3-y-o GOODNIGHT GIRL. Jonathan Portman's filly has been in fine fettle in recent weeks, landing 3 of her last 4 starts, and she can continue the good work under a penalty. Buccaneers Vault will appreciate the return to this big field scenario and he is feared, along with Case Key and Syrian Pearl.

Lightly-raced maiden. 6/1, best effort when second of 14 on Thirsk nursery debut (6f, soft) on Tuesday. Likely to stay 7f and respected off the same mark.

Verdict

STAR TERMS has improved with each start and benefited from the step up to 7f when getting off the mark at the third time of asking at Newbury. She remains open to further improvement and an initial mark of 83 seems more than fair. Roxy Art stayed on strongly to gain her first success at Chelmsford a fortnight ago and will relish the extra furlong. Rollicking completes the shortlist having dropped 2lb for a fair effort over C&D last week.

Verdict

STAR TERMS looks on a good opening mark with the form of her last 2 runs having been boosted since and she should take a bit of stopping with further improvement on the cards. Roxy Art had something to spare when scoring at Chelmsford a fortnight ago and may provide the main threat ahead of recent Thirsk runner-up Forcetoreckon.

Improved again to make a winning handicap debut at Newbury over this trip last month and not beaten far in strongly-run Ascot race since, nearest finish. Has more to offer.

Verdict

Saunter will arrive full of confidence following his French romp and he ought to feature, and Another Eclipse warrants respect following placed efforts at Windsor and Doncaster. However, with an unexposed profile and receiving the weight-for-age allowance, SLEEPING LION rates the one to beat. He lost little in defeat when narrowly denied the hat-trick at Ascot and Tom Queally will likely sit more prominently this time around.

Verdict

The sole 3-y-o SLEEPING LION was strong at the finish and beaten just a length at Ascot 3 weeks ago. He has more to offer and can resume winning ways. Godolphin has stuck with Huge Future and he could get back on track on these shores having been gelded. Saunter struck in France last month and shouldn't be dismissed.

Place behind reopposing Gododdin at Sandown before good second of 10 in handicap (9/4) at Redcar (10f, good to firm) 17 days ago, running on late. Likely to benefit from return to 1½m.

Verdict

It might pay to side with seasonal/handicap debutant DUBAWI PRINCE, who looked an exciting prospect when winning his maiden at Doncaster in April 2017 and ran as though something was amiss when bombing out in a hot conditions race next time. Back from the sidelines off an attractive mark of 84, he shades the verdict ahead of Great Beyond, who has had wind surgery since last sighted and wears a first-time tongue-tie, and the more experienced Gododdin.

Verdict

An intriguing contest. GODODDIN promises to be suited by the step up to 1½m and gets the nod but fellow 3-y-os Great Beyond and Scaramanga are also very interesting now switching to handicaps, while it'll be fascinating to see how Dubawi Prince goes in the betting on his return to action.

Seven-race maiden who was well held over 1¼m and remains to be seen if the return to this much shorter trip is what's required.

Verdict

Thechildren'strust has an unexposed profile and warrants plenty of respect on his handicap debut and first try beyond 6f, but PREVENT is fancied to land the spoils. He has backed up his 6f course success with solid second-placed efforts over this trip at Ascot and Salisbury, and sets a high standard for the rest to try and pass. Dragon Moon and Bertog both hold each-way claims dropping down from class 3 company.

Verdict

A tight heat in which it may be worth taking a chance on HIGHLIGHT REEL, who does need things to drop right but is likely capable of winning off this mark if they do. Bertog will be suited by the drop back to 7f and heads the many dangers along with Prevent.
