Built on debut promise when opening his account at Lingfield (5f, AW) in January. Not seen to best effect on recent handicap bow at Kempton and he's not without each-way hope in first-time blinkers.

Verdict

MUSIC SOCIETY finished ahead of Corinthia Knight when second in a conditions contest at Wolverhampton in December and with that rival in sparkling form on the all-weather since, winning four times, including in Listed company in France and in the 3 Year Old Final at Lingfield, the form has been nicely franked. Captain Jameson is 6lb higher than when striking on soft ground at Doncaster and is worth a market check, likewise Maybride, who was fifth in the Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar last term and appears on a workable mark now handicapping.

Verdict

MUSIC SOCIETY had 4-time subsequent winner Corinthia Knight and proven Group-class performer Sound And Silence behind when runner-up at Wolverhampton on his latest start in December. This stiffer track will be very much in his favour and the booking of Ryan Moore for this handicap debut suggests that connections mean business. Desert Doctor, Captain Jameson and Maybride are all live dangers.

Verdict

A race that is often won by a high-class performer and there are a lot of eye-catching pedigrees on offer in this year's renewal. The one that stands out on paper is MILITARY BAND, who is a half-brother Champion Stakes winner Cracksman as well as Group 3 scorer Fantastic Moon. He was not the most expensive purchase at 80,000gns but Cracksman had only won a maiden at that point, while his trainer won back-to-back renewals of this race in 2014 and 2015. Surya is the third foal out of dual Oaks winner Sariska and his half-sister, Snow Moon, was placed in Listed company. Prabeni is from the family of Golden Horn and hails from a yard who have a good record in this race as well as being in good form right now.

Verdict

The favourite has won 2 of the last 4 renewals so the market should prove informative again but the one who catches the eye is SURYA. John Gosden's colt is by Frankel out of Oaks-winner Sariska, and his entries in the Dante/Derby suggest he's been showing up well at home. Godolphin have an excellent record in this so Karaginsky and Military Band are likely players, too.

Shaped well on debut in August and winner of both subsequent starts, including soft-ground listed race at Ascot (7f). This is much tougher, up in class and now taking on the boys, but she's unexposed.

Verdict

Le Brivido was thwarted by a short head in the French 2,000 Guineas but gained compensation when scoring by a neck from Spirit of Valor in the Jersey Stakes the following month. His main target in the immediate term is likely to be the Lockinge and he's dropping back to 6f here, but he's classy and respected all the same. However, BRANDO could instead be the one to be on. Kevin Ryan's charge won on his seasonal debut in a 5f handicap here in 2016 and then won this contest first time out last term. He went on to pick up a Group 1 in France before his form tailed off, but a subsequent wind operation is a potential reason to expect a bold showing here.

Verdict

Andre Fabre's trips across the Channel are usually well-judged and LE BRIVIDO should prove hard to beat if ready to roll following a 10-month layoff. He probably had more in hand than the winning margin suggests when touching off Spirit of Valor at Royal Ascot last summer and dropping back in trip shouldn't be an issue. Brando is an obvious danger, while Dream of Dreams also merits respect.

Verdict

ROARING LION battled on well to beat Nelson by a neck over C&D in the Royal Lodge Stakes last term and that rival franked the form with a victory in the Ballysax at Leopardstown on Saturday. The selection then went on to finish a neck second to the well-regarded Saxon Warrior in the Racing Post Trophy and, collectively, those efforts set the form standard here. Group 3 winner Glorious Journey continues on an upward curve and could go close if first-time cheekpieces do the trick. Masar is no forlorn hope for a place if coming on for his comeback spin at Meydan last month.

Verdict

ROARING LION clearly has bigger fish to fry, with this assignment serving as an aperitif ahead of a tilt at the 2000 Guineas back here in just over 2 weeks' time. Still, even if not fully wound-up he will prove hard to beat. Given his pedigree and price tag, expectations surrounding the unbeaten Glorious Journey will be high but stablemate Masar is a more appealing option for forecast purposes.

Closely related to 6f winner Midnight Dance and half-sister to useful 5f winner Dark Shot, out of a Wokingham winner. Promise and not knocked about in 7f Wolverhampton event in December.

Verdict

Sheikha Reika is the one who stands out on form having filled second place in all three of her starts last season. When last seen the daughter of Shamardal only found a subsequent Listed winner too good at Nottingham, but recent performances by her stablemates suggest that she may need the run today. The likes of Hula Girl, Ocala, Playfull Spirit and Private View should all win races based on their previous efforts but a chance can be taken with IMPROVE. William Haggas' unraced filly cost 150,000 euros as a yearling and she is a half-sister to last year's QEII winner Persuasive as well as Tisbutadream, who won at Listed level in 2017. The yard have been in very good form so far this season and it would be no surprise to see her go extremely well on debut.

Verdict

SHEIKHA REIKA might not emulate the achievements of her half-sister Lumiere, but did nothing wrong in defeat last season, and looks worth siding with on her reappearance. It's the usual competitive field for a Newmarket maiden, with Hula Girl very interesting on her return having also shown plenty in 2017, while Improve is a noteworthy newcomer for William Haggas.

200,000 gns foal, half-brother to 8.3f winner Isabella Bird and useful 1½m winner Moderah. No big-race entries to his name and Argentello appears to be the stable first-string.

Verdict

This race looks sure to go the way of a high-class performer given the strength of form on offer and the pedigrees of the unraced participants. ARGENTELLO was less than a length behind an experienced rival when finishing second on his debut at Doncaster last month and he travelled like a very good horse on that occasion. He will clearly improve for the run and gets weight from his main rivals. Elector and Nordic Lights both won well on their debuts but will need to improve to defy their penalties, although they are entitled to do just that. Loveisili, who is from the family of Yesterday and Quarter Moon, cost 650,000gns as a yearling and he is bred on the Dansili/Sadler's Wells nick that has already produced multiple high-class performers including Flintshire and The Fugue. Caliburn and Raa Atoll are other expensive purchases who merit a market inspection this afternoon.

Verdict

This has the look of a potentially informative contest. ARGENTELLO lost out only to an experienced rival on debut at Doncaster and, with the distinct possibility of better to come, he is taken to go one better this time. Previous winners Nordic Lights and Elector are both good prospects and rate the main dangers, while newcomers Caliburn and Loveisili merit close attention in the betting.

Verdict

OCCUPY outran odds of 25/1 to make a winning debut at Kempton back in November and that form is appears to be decent. The 7lb penalty for that success is a concern but his main rival, African Jazz, carries the same weight and the price he was sent off that day suggests that he should improve. The aforementioned African Jazz, who is a half-brother to the dual Group 2 winner Usherette, won well at Lingfield last month and he may have a race-fitness edge over the selection. Howman cost 450,00gns as a yearling and that is no surprise given that he is a half-brother to the Group 1 winner Lillie Langtry, who is also the dam of Minding. Jockey bookings suggest that Stream Of Stars is the pick of the Gosden pair and any market support for him would have to be noted.

Verdict

There was much to like about the way AFRICAN JAZZ did the job on debut at Lingfield and, armed with a great deal of potential, he is marginally preferred to a similarly promising type in Occupy. Howman and Stream of Stars are particularly appealing as far as the newcomers go, while Star of Southwold and Sleeping Lion, both of whom shaped well first time out, are others to keep an eye on.
