Verdict

Stormy Road confirmed the promise of her debut second here by going one better at Brighton, although the form may not amount to a great deal and she has a penalty to contend with. Amorously stepped forward from her introduction to beat all bar a 100/1 stunner at Haydock, but EVER CHANGING jumps off the page. John Gosden's filly is out of the stable's dual Group 1 winner Rainbow View and won't need to be quite as precocious as she was to go close on debut.

Verdict

SH BOOM would have gone into many notebooks at Goodwood when finishing strongly from an unpromising position, and she seems sure to build on that second time up. Newcomer Ever Changing represents powerful connections so needs taking seriously, especially as her dam won at the first time of asking. Stormy Road is also respected under a penalty with further progress likely.

Both wins registered on AW, but clearly effective on turf judged on creditable place efforts at Yarmouth (7f) and the July course (6f) here the last twice. 2 lb 'wrong' at the weights.

Verdict

Game Player got off the mark on the Lingfield all-weather but was previously well beaten on his handicap bow at Newbury so looks vulnerable off 1lb higher. Florencio formed part of Jamie Osborne's great day at Laytown and competes off the same rating, while Colonel Frank is up just 2lb for scoring at Yarmouth, but another chance is given to PERFECT HUSTLER because he took in a competitive Leicester handicap most recently and this may not be as warm.

Verdict

BLAZED shaped as though well worth another crack at this trip when third in a big-field Ascot handicap last time and he could be the answer. Florencio isn't passed over at all lightly off a potentially lenient turf mark, but there's little doubt that he's more potent on the AW. He is nevertheless feared most, with Perfect Hustler and the unexposed Game Player also accorded respect.

Narrow winner of 7f Redcar novice and 1m Windsor handicap under Milly Naseb last month. Remains open to improvement and, like stablemate Amandine, she's a big player. Engaged 7.50 Newcastle Friday.

Verdict

AMANDINE failed to beat a rival home at Goodwood, but banished that to the memory with a back-to-form second at Ascot and she is taken to go one better on a course she went close at towards the end of July. Highland Pass so nearly backed up a Salisbury success over 7f here, and returning to this trip is in her favour. Forward Thinker has to be considered if turning out after Friday's Newcastle appearance, and Jousi is worth a glance in the market after a layoff.

Verdict

This looks ripe for AMANDINE, who arguably produced her best effort yet when going down all guns blazing in a Class 2 Ascot handicap recently. With hat-trick seeking stablemate Forward Thinker due to run at Newcastle on Friday night, the temperamental but capable Highland Pass and Elysium Dream can fill the places.

Multiple winner this year, but has found life tougher since latest success off 3 lb lower at Haydock in July and Stars Over The Sea appears to be the yard's first-string.

Verdict

COEUR DE LION wasn't suited by the way the race was run at Glorious Goodwood and could never get competitive, but he previously put in excellent efforts at Chester, Royal Ascot and Newbury, and can regain the winning thread. Handiwork boasts a similar NH rating to Alan King's stayer and proved his mettle in this sphere when scoring at Doncaster back in April. Stars Over The Sea is another good jumper arriving on the back of good Flat form, while Tony Martin won't be sending Golden Spear over just for a day out.

Verdict

The really interesting one from a handicapping point of view is Irish raider GOLDEN SPEAR, who has been lightly-campaigned this year, presumably with a visit back here next month for the Cesarewitch itself the primary target. Coeur de Lion found only stablemate Who Dares Wins too good in this 12 months ago and should again go well, while Stars over The Sea and Handiwork are others with claims.

Better than ever when second in 1m handicap at Windsor in May. However, has disappointed the last twice, including in first-time cheekpieces latest.

Verdict

BUBBLE AND SQUEAK has run some decent races this season, including a placed effort at Ascot behind Beshaayir in July and at the start of the month over 1m2f at Chelmsford behind Crystal Moonlight. This distance looks ideal for Sylvester Kirk's filly and she has a top amateur in Simon Walker taking the ride. Biotic has winning form with Patrick Millman and the pair team up once again, while cheekpieces could make a difference to Rotherwick.

Verdict

KNOW YOUR LIMIT clearly isn’t the most straightforward but there were much better signs in first-time blinkers (retained here) at Kempton last month, and she could build on that having been dropped a further 2 lb. Bubble And Squeak, Biotic and Rotherwick all merit consideration, also.

Given a chance by the handicapper and shaped as if back in form when third of 8 in 11.6f handicap at Lingfield (good to firm) last week. Needs to back that up now.

Verdict

A handicap that has gone to Group-class performers in recent seasons, including Bateel (2015) and Star Rock 12 months ago. While there isn't a contender seemingly of that quality in this field, HAMEEM is the one who appeals most. John Gosden's filly got off the mark at prohibitive odds at Brighton earlier in the month and connections have found her a nice opportunity on her handicap debut. Saving Grace can go close if returning to her form earlier in the summer, while Perfect Summer can give a decent account despite this being her first run of the season.

Verdict

HAMEEM probably didn’t win much of a race at Brighton, but there’s every chance she may do better now handicapping back up in trip given her powerful connections. The Ian Williams-trained pair Tarte Tropezienne and Perfect Summer look interesting with the market likely to offer up some clues.

Convincing winner at Lingfield in July and well ridden in a slowly-run affair for latest success at Goodwood 3 weeks ago. Up 3 lb in a slightly deeper race.

Verdict

LADY FREYJA arrives in excellent form having won at Newmarket last month and followed up with a third at Yarmouth on Thursday, and John Ryan's filly can defy a 6lb rise in the handicap for that earlier success. Bernardo O'Reilly can be forgiven his latest outing at Doncaster when not breaking with the field and was allowed to come home in his own time, while recent Goodwood winner Curious Fox completes the shortlist.

Verdict

NICK VEDDER caught the eye back over this trip at Ascot last time (denied a clear run) so needs treating as though still in top form, and in the hope he gets an honest pace to aim at, is taken to resume winning ways from what remains a fair mark. Bernardo O'Reilly blotted his copybook at Doncaster but that was hopefully a one-off. Highland Acclaim is also a threat if in the mood.
