Little form in points and well held all 3 starts over hurdles in recent weeks.

Little form in points and well held all 3 starts over hurdles in recent weeks.

Verdict

Capeland's bumper form has not worked out all that well but he confirmed himself as one to follow with a respectable third on his hurdles debut at Chepstow a couple of weeks ago. That said, the preference is for STARVING MARVIN, who won a decent novice event at Sandown back in March and if he runs up to his mark of 123 the son of Hawk Wing should be in the mix this afternoon. Quarenta is another whose bumper win does not look to be the suggest of form but he is open to plenty of improvement.

Verdict

CAPELAND was unbeaten in bumpers and is very much one to be interested in following an encouraging return/hurdling debut third at Chepstow recently. He gets the nod in a pretty ordinary affair, with Quarenta and Book Direct fancied to give Paul Nicholls' charge most to think about.

Multiple winning pointer but poor form over fences, though one of better efforts (8 Ib out of handicap) when 2 lengths third of 6 at Newton Abbot last time.

Verdict

A 9lb rise for winning a mediocre event at Fontwell in August makes life a lot tougher for Brave Encounter but the fact that he was won recently is an obvious bonus in this race. GENEROUS CHIEF finished second in a decent event over hurdles at the same Sussex track on his most recent start and this in-form eight-year-old looks the one to beat as he tries to exploit at 10lb lower mark over fences. Bennys Girl remains relatively unexposed over this kind of trip under Rules.

Verdict

GENEROUS CHIEF has done little wrong for current connections and is potentially well treated back over fences. Brave Encounter is another who seems to have thrived for a change of scenery and is the obvious threat.

Let down by her jumping on final start for Mrs Margaret Mullins in June. Left that yard for £15,000 and remains with potential, though this test may not suffice.

Verdict

Peter The Mayo Man may not have beaten much in his two wins last month but he has looked to have a bright future ahead of him on both occasions. An opening mark of 125 appears to be workable, especially in a race of this nature. That said, NACHI FALLS gets a big weight allowance from the six-year-old and he arrives here 6lb well-in as his mark has been reassessed as the second and third from his latest win have both won since. Verni and Wolftrap also make some appeal but may struggle against their race-fit rivals.

Verdict

A race to view very positively despite the field size, with VERNI taken to pick up where he left off in the spring having been allotted a very fair opening mark. Peter The Mayo Man is fit and in form, so has to be feared, while the same comments apply to Nachi Falls, who should be a factor with his 3-y-o allowance taken into account.

Progressive in the spring, following up her Exeter win with a couple of encouraging placed efforts, very much catching the eye when second at Stratford. Still ahead of mark if ready to go.

Verdict

EXPEDITE was below par on his last couple of starts last season when pulled up at Ascot and Fakenham, but he appeals as the type to have improved significantly for a summer break and for the switch from Charlie Mann to Ben Pauling. Jonagold is a player on his recent effort over C&D when runner-up behind Ballinure, while Midnight Sapphire, Cetlic Tune, and Fair To Middling all have solid claims.

Verdict

We're yet to see the best of AWESOME TUNES and he's worth a chance to put it all together now having shaped better than the result on all 3 starts under Rules so far. He's expected to improve past course-specialist Midnight Sapphire, but Alderley Heights is acknowledged as a big danger if she's ready to go back from a break.

C&D winner last year and posted creditable effort, on return to this discipline, when third in handicap at Southwell (15.7f) 23 days ago. Cause not helped by being 3 lb out of the weights, though.

Verdict

A trappy contest with the whole field all having something to hold against them but the tentative vote goes to THE YANK, who was travelling well when falling at the second last at Fontwell two starts ago before returning at Hereford when third behind Little Pop. David Bridgwater's charge was dropped 4lb for that effort and is now on the same mark he was when running at Fontwell. Cape Caster would be a threat if jumping better than he did at Worcester, while No No Cardinal ran well enough at Southwell when returning to fences and looks best of the remainder.

Verdict

THE YANK looks the safest option in a race that probably won't take a great deal of winning. He looked poised to score at Fontwell in August before coming to grief, and has since run well at Hereford. He is preferred to Boss In Boots, who is back on his last winning mark.

Has a bumper victory on his CV but he's shown little spark over hurdles so far, including when pulled-up on return from 5 months off at Uttoxeter last month. Cheekpieces added for first time.

Verdict

ARAMADYH got off the mark over hurdles when winning comfortably at the expense of Moulin Rouge, who reopposes, by six lengths and an 8lb rise in the weights shouldn't be enough to stop Jimmy Frost's charge. Moulin Rouge looks a danger with the drop in distance likely to work more in her favour but she still has something to find, while Breeze Along could well improve for his first start in handicap company.

Verdict

ARAMADYH upped her game considerably on her second start for Jimmy Frost, taking a handicap at this course with something in hand last month. She may have more in the locker yet and is taken to follow up. Moulin Rouge followed her home last time and may fill that role again, while Khismet and Guantoshol are others to consider.
