Fair form in bumpers/modest form over hurdles for Gordon Elliott in 2015/16. Best watched on return for new yard.

Verdict

Exeter winner Serosevsky will appreciate the 7lb allowance his amateur jockey receives and went down only narrowly at Warwick last time. Whitley Neill is interesting following a wind operation, but preference is for SET LIST, who has run respectably since joining the Dan Skelton yard and now has a good chance to get off the mark in this sphere. Dropping significantly in trip, he should be able to make a successful return to the smaller obstacles.

Verdict

Potentially a match between SEROSEVSKY and Set List. The former pushed a nice prospect all the way at Warwick in May so is just preferred.

Finally back to winning ways at Ffos Las (20.9f) in June. Creditable second over C&D subsequently but likely needs more in a better race here.

Verdict

As You Like was just a head away from landing the hat-trick and must be high up on the shortlist once again despite a further 4lb rise. However, preference is for track specialist MOORLANDS JACK, who thrived over this course and distance once more when beating some useful rivals last time, and the veteran can conquer all again. The first-time-blinkered Mille Nautique and Candy Burg, who it is still early days for with Olly Murphy, are others to note.

Verdict

AS YOU LIKE is thriving, and although he failed to complete a hat-trick over C&D last month, he ran really well and remains very much one to be interested in. Mille Nautique should be shaper for last month’s comeback run and is feared along with 3-time C&D winner Moorlands Jack.

None too consistent and largely below par over since returning from a break in April, including over fences here last month. Cheekpieces replace usual hood.

Verdict

RED TORNADO registered his first victory since landing the 2016 Summer Hurdle at Market Rasen by routing the opposition at Stratford last time, and he is backed to follow up from a 7lb higher rating. Passing Call has won well in novice company the last twice and is dangerous back handicapping, while the former Ditcheat inmate Garo De Juilley can't be ignored having knocked on the door at Wincanton when last seen in this sphere.

Verdict

A slowly-run race could complicate things for veteran COURT MINSTREL given how he is ridden, but he's too well treated to ignore and this is a pretty big drop in class. Red Tornado and Passing Call are fit and in form, so are big threats.

Responded well up in trip when scoring for the second time over hurdles at his C&D a month ago, proving a head too strong for Tea Time Fred. Should be competitive up 4 lb.

Verdict

LORD TOPPER routed the opposition over course and distance when last seen over hurdles and having been kept ticking over with a run on the Kempton all-weather in the interim, can follow up here despite the hike in the ratings. Good Man Vinnie saw his two-race winning run come to an end in a hot Uttoxeter chase but needs consideration back over timber, with recent track-and-trip scorer Mamoo also a must for the shortlist.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT SAPPHIRE has been absent since March 2017, but she's undergone a breathing operation and fitness ought not to be a concern given the stable she now represents, so she is the selection in the hope there's strength behind her in the market. If that isn't the case, Lord Topper and Mamoo, both recent C&D winners, are best placed to take advantage.

Verdict

Alanjou was second to an in-form winner over course and distance and is respected from the same mark, with James Bowen an eyecatching jockey booking. Findusatgorcombe was pulled up in that contest but had some smart form before it and can't be ruled out. However, TOP CHIEF downed a progressive rival here two starts ago and with jockey Angus Cheleda removing 8lb now, he can leave his latest run well behind now up in trip.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT QUEEN was in the process of running well (sure to be placed) when departing on her return to Rules at Southwell last month so she gets the vote with headgear back on. Top Chief arrives in better form than most and is another to consider, along with Alanjou, who has dropped to a competitive mark.

Verdict

AYELYA was sent off favourite on her reappearance at Uttoxeter and ran for a long way like she would justify it until a mistake three out put paid to her chance. She is more than capable of landing a contest like this and the 3lb drop from the handicapper certainly helps. Kiruna Peak was a place ahead of her last time and may prove to be the chief rival, with Fergal O'Brien's filly on a confidence-boosting mission that day having suffered a horror fall the time before. Jazz Thyme and Hoponandsee could also figure.

Verdict

VERSIFIER has twice shaped better than the bare result this term, not for the first time finding the longer trip stretching her stamina at Fontwell in June. From a further reduced mark, she is fancied to come out on top. Bitter Virtue is interesting on debut for Ian Williams and market support would look significant, whilst Ayelya shouldn't be written off for Olly Murphy.
