Long-standing maiden facing another stiff task from out of the handicap.

Verdict

KINGSTREET LADY has been running consistently well on the all-weather for a number of months now and she will be tough to beat if transferring that form to the turf today. Culloden is another whose recent form on synthetic surfaces has been very encouraging. Fareeq and Coiste Bodhar are others who merit each-way consideration.

Verdict

KINGSTREET LADY has been another improver upon joining Ruth Carr, winning at Southwell last month, and can strike again back on turf. Similarly Culloden has been in good form on AW and is respected, while Vintage Dream wouldn't be without a chance if ready to go on his reappearance.

Foaled April 3. 25,000 gns yearling, Dutch Art filly. Dam, 2-y-o 6f/6.3f winner, half-sister to smart 12.4f/13f winner Motherland out of very smart 5f/6f (including at 2 yrs) winner Pipalong.

Verdict

HUA HIN cost 70,000 euros as a yearling and he is bred to be speedy being a half-brother to the likes of Mr Win and George Bowen. Delft Dancer is out of a Group 3-winning juvenile and she represents a yard who have already had a two-year-old winner this season. Majestic Appeal and Tizwotitiz both have experience which should only help their claims but they will need to improve to be successful in this contest.

Verdict

MAJESTIC APPEAL had confidence behind him in the betting at Southwell on debut and showed up well for a long way, so he looks to boast excellent claims in this small field with the benefit of experience over both Hua Hin and Delft Dancer who are both, admittedly, bred for speed and in good hands.

Hard to make a case for based on what he showed in the winter a Kempton on debut.

Verdict

AL MUFFRIH displayed plenty of promise when finishing third in a very strong novice race over 1m at Newmarket last October. His pedigree suggests that this trip will bring about further improvement in the son of Sea The Stars and he may make up into an above-average colt this year. Global Conqueror is an obvious threat based on his official rating of 87 and he is another who may have progressed over the winter. Department Of War is a newcomer to note given that he cost 290,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to Toormore and Estidhkaar. Mantovani and Mazboon also cost plenty at the sales and it would be no surprise to see either go well today.

Verdict

AL MUFFRIH has all the makings of one that could make into a pattern performer eventually, an attractive, well-bred colt in excellent hands, so he's a confident choice to build on his encouraging debut at Newmarket and get off the mark at the expense of Global Conqueror, with Mazboon appealing as the pick of the newcomers.

Returned to form when creditable fourth at Lingfield (10f, AW) 33 days ago. This is more competitive, however, and chance not aided by being 3 lb out of the weights. Wears first-time cheekpieces.

Verdict

REVELEON didn't appear to show much as a juvenile in three starts but it would be very surprising if she couldn't get off the mark on handicap debut off a rating of 58 for Sir Michael Stoute. Echo ended last season with a win at Redcar and may find further improvement having been gelded since that performance, while others capable of more in handicaps include Poet's Pride and Ventura Magic, the latter boasting first-time cheekpieces.

Verdict

REVELEON never landed a blow in a trio of minor events last year but is in good hands and remains with plenty of potential for handicapping, particularly now stepped up in trip. He could be the answer here. Poet's Pride, Firby and Echo are also of interest.

Smart and extremely consistent, and improved nicely at 3 yrs, winning 3 times. Untapped potential over this sort of trip and a player on return in re-fitted hood.

Verdict

The two four-year-olds in the field look the most interesting with MOUNT MORIAH and On To Victory both having the scope for further improvement. Preference goes to the former as his form is stronger overall and his fourth on Champions Day to Order Of St George was an excellent effort. The latter progressed through the handicap ranks and is expected to maintain his consistency, while Nearly Caught should prove happier back down in class.

Verdict

MOUNT MORIAH looks a stayer to follow in 2018 and can make a successful reappearance for the second season running before having his sights raised again. The other 4-y-o On To Victory could have more to offer this term and is respected, while useful hurdler Coeur Blimey could go well at a bigger price.

On a long losing run and while he's slipped to a potentially handy mark, the percentage call is to look elsewhere following his tame effort at Southwell last time.

Verdict

EDGAR ALLAN POE thrives when there is cut in the ground and having knocked on the door on his last two outings of 2017 he can start 2018 with a victory here. Wicker has been in great form on the all-weather this winter and is respected in first-time cheekpieces, while the lightly-raced Loujain is interesting for John Gosden, kept in training as a four-year-old, having not been seen for a year. Prying Pandora, following a wind op, and Mr Tyrrell are others for the shortlist in this trappy affair.

Verdict

PRYING PANDORA wasn't in top form towards the back-end of last season, but she returns to action well treated as a result and it's easy to envisage a bold showing on the back of a wind operation for a stable that usually have them fit first time back. Loujain and Mooltazem are both relatively unexposed and open to improvement, so they're firmly on the radar, too.
