Verdict

Jame s Bethell's Harrogate has been knocking on the door on his last two starts but faces a tough task here from a wide draw in stall 13, so preference is for Karen McLintock's BLACK FRIDAY. The selection showed improvement at Musselburgh last time and has the perfect stalls position here coming from gate two. Militia is also considered at a venue Richard Fahey regularly saddles two-year-old winners.

Verdict

ROSSALL is building up a pretty solid profile and could be the way to go, although there are a few possible dangers, headed by Harrogate who has been runner-up on his last 2 starts. Militia made a promising start to his career when third at York recently and is likely to improve, while Jonboy shaped quite a bit better than the result on his Hamilton debut last month.

Not got his head in front since scoring over C&D in October 2015. Mostly respectable efforts of late without suggesting he's about to bring that losing run to a halt.

Verdict

C&D winner Trinity Star enjoys his visits to the West Yorkshire venue and Michael Dods' experienced campaigner could be ready to strike again from a career low mark. However, a chance is taken on Briyouni who was second over this distance two starts back before disappointing when upped to a mile and a quarter last time. He is backed to bounce back and could be ably assisted by the application of first-time blinkers. Amy Murphy's duo of Carnival King and Thaqaffa also have to be considered along with Echo Of Lightning, who is interesting on his first start for Roger Fell.

Verdict

This is wide open. It's reasonable to assume BRIYOUNI failed to stay 10f last time and he might be worth siding with having shaped as if coming to hand when runner-up at Thirsk prior to that. Irish raider Pushaq and the consistent Election Day are a couple of others who are likely to be in the shake-up.

Winner at Leicester in June over this trip. Fair third at Hamilton last time but suspect this will be too tough from out of the weights.

Verdict

LUDORUM got off the mark at his first attempt at the distance last time at Ripon and the Highclere gelding is entitled to follow up here for top handler Richard Fahey. C&D winner Save The Bees was second at York latest and arrives here in top form, while Karl Burke's Azzir and Alfred Richardson are two others who have to be considered.

Verdict

LUDORUM looks the big potential improver on his handicap debut here. He boasts some solid maiden form and could be very well treated off an opening mark of 74 from a favourable draw. There should be a good pace on, which will suit the unexposed Alfred Richardson and Peterhouse, while it's too soon to give up on Kharbetation.

Landed another victory in C&D handicap last month and good second under this apprentice at Beverley next time. Work to do from out of the weights in this, though.

Verdict

Newmarket handler William Haggas makes a rare raid to this venue with his Pivotal filly TIRANIA, who got back to winning ways at Musselburgh last time. She has run some sterling efforts in defeat at Sandown and Ascot and she could be the class angle in the race. Sandra's Secret narrowly failed to back up her track and trip victory when second at Beverley last time but needs to be considered here for shrewd local handler Les Eyre, while Marie Of Lyon is turned out quickly and has to be respected under a 6lb penalty following her Brighton victory earlier this week.

Verdict

A hot fillies' handicap that can go to the improving CLON COULIS, who impressed when winning at Hamilton last month. Newmarket-raider Tirania looks the obvious danger, also being open to progress. Last year's winner Kassia took a big step back in the right direction at Salisbury and is 2 from 2 over C&D.

Modest maiden who is likely to struggle again from 6 lb out of the handicap.

Verdict

John Quinn's CHEBSEY BEAU comes here in search of a hat-trick and looks to hold leading claims having finished third at this meeting last season. Micky Hammond's pair of Tyrell and Tuscan Gold have to be respected and the handler often has runners go well in these staying contests at this venue. The softer the ground the better for Transpennine Star's chances, while Almost Gemini has been getting closer with every run and was only a neck away here last time.

Verdict

Plenty of the usual faces and a fairly big shortlist, with C&D winner BULAS BELLE chanced under a promising 7 lb claimer. Transpennine Star looks a big danger, while Almost Gemini and Tyrell must be considered also.
