Verdict

MAGGIES ANGEL cost 36,000 euros as a yearling and she is the first foal out of a three-time winner and Listed-placed two-year-old, she is by Dark Angel and the yard have already had juvenile winner this year. Runthatbymeagain's full-sister won as a juvenile in April last year and she should be primed for a big run, while Under Offer was a 52,000 pound purchase and she is closely related to plenty of winners.

Verdict

MAGGIES ANGEL makes plenty of appeal on paper and is one of the oldest of these, so it would be no surprise if she were to become yet another winning newcomer in recent weeks for Richard Fahey. Beau Times and the £90,000 yearling Che Bella are a couple of the other likely types first time up.

Foaled February 13. 42,000 gns yearling. Yard's youngsters are generally pretty sharp and confidence behind her in the betting would look significant.

Verdict

NOBRASSNOLASS displayed plenty of promise when fourth in a similar event at Redcar earlier in the month and that experience could make this daughter of Kodiac very hard to beat this afternoon. Faithful Promise is another who should have benefited from her first racecourse appearance. Listen Alexander is the first foal out of a 7f two-year-old winner, who went on to be listed-placed as a three-year-old, while another newcomer to note is Flo's Melody.

Verdict

The betting should serve up clues where the newcomers are concerned, but NOBRASSNOLASS and Faithful Promise may be able to put their experience to good use and fight out the finish. The former showed plenty of dash when fourth on debut at Redcar and she earns the vote. Showdancing and Flo's Melody could be the pick of the debutantes, though Listen Alexander is also a likely-looking type.

Winner of back-to-back 5f turf handicaps in August. Best effort so far this year when chasing home Alkhor at Lingfield (6f, AW) last week but he's not the most reliable of propositions.

Verdict

ROYAL CONNOISSEUR faced a tough task on his seasonal return when seventh in a competitive affair over 7f at Doncaster a few weeks ago, especially as he was done no favours by the draw. That said, there was some promise to be taken from that effort and the drop back in trip will not be a problem. Alkhor had a productive time of it on the all-weather this winter and he would have a strong chance if transferring that progression to the turf. Rantan made the frame in three similar events, including one over C&D, last summer and he can go well on his comeback.

Verdict

This is more competitive than the handicap ALKHOR landed on his recent reappearance at Lingfield, but the manner of that victory suggests that there could be more to come from this relatively unexposed 4-y-o. He is marginally preferred to Magical Effect, who also has low mileage, and last year's winner Dandyleekie. Gabrial The Tiger and Eastern Racer are others to consider.

Verdict

UAE PRINCE had a big reputation last season and he was sent off as an even money favourite to win a valuable handicap at Doncaster in October, which was won by To Be Wild. Final was slightly unlucky when a fast-finishing second Pontefract Last Tuesday and he was certainly unlucky when he clipped heels and unseated his rider after a furlong at Newcastle on Good Friday. Amazement has to give weight to all of his rivals today but the son of Lope De Vega has taken a big step forward on his last couple of starts on the all-weather.

Verdict

While things clearly didn't go entirely to plan with UAE PRINCE last year, an entry in next month's Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket suggests that connections still harbour pattern-race aspirations for this well-bred colt. Indeed, this promises to be his coming-of-age season and it will be disappointing if he fails to deliver here. Dance King could be the one for the forecast ahead of Chancery.

Verdict

KITTEN'S JOHNSTOWN appeared to be a cut above his rivals when making a winning debut at Ayr last September and that form looks good, given that the second won on his next start. It was not the strongest of events that La Casa Tarifa won at Chelmsford earlier in the month but that does give the daughter of Casamento a race-fitness edge. Others to note are In First Place and White Tower.

Verdict

A race which revolves around KITTEN'S JOHNSTOWN, who looked the part when making a winning 2-y-o debut at Ayr and he's the proverbial pattern-class performer masquerading as a handicapper. La Casa Tarifa and In First Place can fill the places.

Landed a valuable York seller last summer, but struggled once switched to nurseries and it's hard to envisage her making much of an impact here.

Verdict

Heavenly Angel finished last season with a likeable third at Newmarket and is interesting on her handicap debut, dropping back to 6f, and she must play a part. Hamba Kashe looks the best of the trio of Middleham Park Racing contenders while Rag Tatter is respected off the same mark as his recent second placed efforts on the all-weather and enters the equation in the hands of Kevin Stott. However, the former Richard Hannon inmate, LOGI, was a three-length scorer on his first appearance for David Barron in a Wolverhampton maiden and can progress again now upped in distance.

Verdict

The vote goes to INTENSE ROMANCE, who wasn't beaten far off this mark in what looked a decent handicap at Wolverhampton last time and there could be better to come from this lightly-raced filly. There's no reason to believe she won't prove equally effective on turf. Logi did the job in good style in an AW maiden in February and he is feared most, while Cupid's Arrow is best of the rest.
