Verdict

CONCELLO ran a race full of promise when runner-up over 7f on debut at Lingfield and is expected to improve with that initial experience now behind her. Hawayel finished in the rear in the Albany two starts ago but is competing at a more realistic level here if the step up from 6f can unlock improvement. Another with viable place claims is Popping Corks, who was outpaced over 6f at Ffos Las when last sighted.

Verdict

CONCELLO lacked for knowhow at a crucial stage when runner-up on debut at Lingfield 3 weeks ago, and with that experience expected to bring her on, she can improve past Hawayel, whose profile is starting to look a bit flaky. Popping Corks is another to consider.

Verdict

SHARG turned in his best effort yet when second over 1m at Kempton last time out and the booking of Ryan Moore offers hope he can build on that performance and go one better now dropping back in distance. Muraahin is entitled to improve on a solid introduction over this trip at Chelmsford and is the one expected to put up most resistance. Clive Cox can ready a newcomer so any money for his Blue Willow would be notable.

Verdict

MURAAHIN is bred to be well-above average, and he strikes as the sort to step up quite a lot on his debut run, so he could be the answer. Sharg may well have won at Kempton last week under a stronger ride and he certainly won't lack in that department with Moore taking over, while Blue Willow is a six-figure newcomers to monitor in the betting.

Eleven runs since sole win in 2017. Last of 7 in handicap at Lingfield (6f, firm, 4/1) 22 days ago.

Verdict

L'EXPLORA struck at the third time of asking in a novice contest at Yarmouth and there could be immediate improvement in the pipeline now she is fitted with first-time blinkers on her handicap debut. Belated Breath is 4lb higher than when winning over this trip at Nottingham in May but could feasibly play a minor role, likewise Black Sails, who is 17lb lower than she was at the beginning of the campaign.

Verdict

The more experienced runners don't look too well treated and for all L'EXPLORA appeared to make heavy weather of it when winning at Yarmouth 3 weeks ago she should have more to offer now contesting handicaps. She gets the vote over Black Sails and Belated Breath.

Verdict

THE LORDS WALK was touched off by half a length over 1m2f at Epsom but he ran well from the front that day and looks well worth another try at this trip, over which he picked up some minor money for previous connections in a claimer at Gowran in May. Flying Sakhee was the subject of support prior to finishing second to an easy winner on turf at Lingfield, and is one to bear in mind off an unchanged mark. The consistent Aye Aye Skipper is no forlorn hope for a place either.

Verdict

LIFEBOAT has had a pretty underwhelming 3-y-o campaign so far, but he offered a bit more last time, and representing an in-form yard with Jim Crowley taking over, he could be ready to strike. The Lords Walk and Flying Sakhee are feared most.

Very promising at 2 yrs. Creditable ½-length third of 7 to Thundering Blue in York Stakes (5/4) at York (10.2f, good) 19 days ago. Back down in trip and receives weight all round as the sole 3-y-o.

Very promising at 2 yrs. Creditable ½-length third of 7 to Thundering Blue in York Stakes (5/4) at York (10.2f, good) 19 days ago. Back down in trip and receives weight all round as the sole 3-y-o.

Verdict

ELARQAM was narrowly beaten over 1m2f at York and given he was worn down inside the final furlong on that occasion, it will be interesting to see if he can make all over this shorter trip. The rest have to concede weight to the 2000 Guineas fourth, though French raider Plumatic is worth a market check if there is any cut in the ground and Zonderland, who won this race in 2016, will find this an easier assignment than the Lockinge and Queen Anne he's contested the last twice.

Verdict

ELARQAM, the only 3-y-o in the race, is taken to kickstart a career that has stalled since the high promise of his Guineas fourth, with this drop back to 1m a good move after York. French-raider Plumatic is likely to give him most to do, ahead of the consistent Oh This Is Us.

Three wins from 6 runs this year. Career best when winning 6-runner handicap (5/1) at Newmarket (12f, good to firm) 12 days ago.

Verdict

Hat-trick seekers Frown and Hyanna both warrant plenty of respect, but preference is for the less exposed CRYSTAL MOONLIGHT. Interestingly, the same connections won this race two years ago with Dubka, and the lightly-raced daughter of New Approach is better judged on her comfortable Doncaster victory rather than her second-placed effort in a trappy three-runner contest at Chester. Lorelina was victorious at the same venue on her latest start and she adds further spice to the race.

Verdict

A sextet to view positively, but CRYSTAL MOONLIGHT is surely only to get better with racing, and her opening mark may underplay her anyway, so she will take some stopping. Frown is going the right way and won't give up the hat-trick without a fight.

Verdict

SUPERNOVA has done nothing but improve in four starts so far and the way he has stuck on over 1m3f and 1m4f the last twice suggests that this further step up in distance could unlock another gear. With Ryan Moore taking over from regular rider Jamie Spencer, he is fancied to defy a 5lb rise and see off Winds Of Fire, another progressive performer who wears cheekpieces for the first time, and runaway Chepstow winner Praeceps.

Verdict

WINDS OF FIRE still looked rough around the edges when second at Haydock a month ago and the feeling is that he could be a fair bit better than this class if learning to race properly. Supernova chases a hat-trick and his limit hasn't been reached, either.
