Signed off last year by landing a 5f Kempton nursery, but more miss than hit in 2018 and well behind Three Little Birds at Wolverhampton last time.

Verdict

SAAHEQ returned from a year off the track to score readily at Doncaster last week and providing the dreaded 'bounce factor' doesn't play a part, connections could make hay while the sun shines under a 6lb penalty. Three Little Birds has been in fine form of late and the recent Bath winner is respected from just 3lb higher. Porti Ferro was a beaten favourite when last seen but has been running well this term and warrants a place on the shortlist along with the well treated Kasbah.

Verdict

While stall 9 isn't ideal, SAAHEQ otherwise has plenty going for him. Indeed, he made an absolute mockery of his mark last week at Doncaster where he was returning from a lengthy layoff and tackling this trip for the first time. This doesn't look as competitive and he is hard to oppose under a penalty. Kasbah, last year's winner Operative and Roundabout Magic can do battle for minor honours.

Encouraging third of 16 at Windsor on debut in June, and again shaped well in valuable maiden at the big York meeting (7f, good to firm) last month. Should have a part to play in the finish.

Verdict

Barristan The Bold created a taking impression when scoring over seven furlongs here last time, but faces a tough task this time around conceding 7lb to some useful looking prospects up in trip at a mile. Convivial Stakes third Voltaic was doing his best work late that day at York and should have more to come stepping up in distance. However, a chance is taken on the Kingman newcomer DALAALAAT who represents the winning jockey and owner of this race last season and he appears the pick of the newcomers narrowly ahead of Godolphin's brother of Group Three winner City Style, Al Mikdam.

Verdict

BARRISTAN THE BOLD will need to improve again in order to defy a penalty in what looks a useful contest, but he did the job well over 7f here last time and may well be equal to the task with further progress anticipated now upped to a mile. Flying Dragon lost little caste in defeat on debut for this yard at Ffos Las and is feared most ahead of newcomer Dalaalaat and the promising Voltaic.

Good pedigree and just touched off by an experienced rival on C&D debut. Very much a winning-in-waiting on that evidence and may prove more than a match for likely favourite Good Fortune.

Verdict

Godolphin's GOOD FORTUNE impressed when routing the opposition at Lingfield two starts back, but saw his reputation slightly dented when only third in the Denford Stakes at Newbury. He was a sitting duck to his rivals when trying to make all in that Listed contest and if ridden with a little more restraint here, he could easily get back on the right track. Sir Michael Stoute's 150,000-dollar New Approach newcomer Laafy is an interesting debutant and a market check is advised, while Walkinthesand ran a respectable race when second here on debut and makes the shortlist once again.

Verdict

WALKINTHESAND made a most encouraging start to his career when going down narrowly in a C&D maiden 19 days ago and, with improvement on the cards, he is taken to go one better this time. Good Fortune sets the standard based on his effort in a Newbury listed event, but he arguably lacks the scope of the selection. Newcomer Laafy merits close attention in the betting.

Verdict

WADILSAFA bounced back from a disappointing Royal Ascot performance in the Hampton Court when romping home in handicap company at York last time. Owen Burrows' charge is expected to take this step up in grade in his stride now he has the benefit of a confidence-boosting victory behind him. Red Starlight is another stepping up from handicaps to consider after dotting up at Lingfield, while there could be better to come from Hathal now he has a pipeopener at Salisbury behind him.

Verdict

WADILSAFA produced a smart effort when brushing his rivals aside in a York handicap in July and, with the promise of even better to come from this superbly-bred colt, he will take the world of beating. Archetype, whose form figures here read 211, gets the nod for forecast purposes ahead of the progressive filly Red Starlight.

Took a step forward in first-time cheekpieces when winning 8-runner handicap (5/1) at Carlisle (9f) 20 days ago, forging clear. Only 3 lb higher but this looks much tougher.

Verdict

LUSH LIFE struck over 7f on debut at Kempton and appeared to win a shade cosily when landing a 1m novice heat at Chelmsford latest. Jamie Osborne's charge was shuffled back into the rear before getting up for a head victory in the final strides on the latter occasion and there could be more improvement to come now she tackles this stiffer mile. Sir Michael Stoute's Newmarket winner Rawdaa is feared most on her handicap bow, while the consistent Golden Iris wouldn't be winning out of turn.

Verdict

The one who stands out is RAWDAA. She's quickly developed into a useful filly and can take advantage of a very-lenient opening mark. The unbeaten Lush Life surely has more to offer herself now handicapping, while it's perhaps too soon to be writing off Akvavera.

Verdict

THUNDERBOLT ROCKS appeared to relish the step up from 7f when winning stylishly over the extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton last time. Hugo Palmer's charge is now 7lb higher and switches surface this afternoon, though this stiffer test may well be a source of further improvement for him. Enzemble posted a solid effort in defeat over 1m3f at Kempton last time and can scrap it out with recent C&D second Dawn Dancer for the silver medal.

Verdict

WHITLOCK shaped as if still on a good mark over C&D last time, losing his position at a crucial stage, and he remains one to be interested in. Thunderbolt Rocks ran out an easy winner on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton 2 weeks ago and ought to have a say. Dawn Dancer is another to consider for an in-from yard.

5/1, career best when winning 11-runner handicap at Chelmsford City (10f) in August, but looked a little high in the weights when only mid-field at Kempton subsequently.

Verdict

Geetanjali isn't the easiest of rides but does possess plenty of talent and has been running well in recent weeks, while a market check is warranted for Collegiate, who wears first-time blinkers on her handicap debut for Sir Michael Stoute. First Experience is a reliable type at this level and a course winner, but James Fanshawe's string are in good form and perhaps HYPERACTIVE is the one to be with. The Rip Van Winkle filly should have come on plenty for her Chelmsford return and can enjoy this additional yardage off a mark of 67.

Verdict

HYPERACTIVE is out of a likeable mare and half-sister to one that looked above average when making a winning start last month, so there's plenty of reason to think she'll prove better than a mark of 67 on this handicap debut. Geetanjali has been progressing steadily and looks a solid alternative ahead of Collegiate.
