Scoop6 Saturday 4th March 2017

The tote scoop6 is a fantastic pool bet which gives you the chance to win a fortune for a £2 stake.

The challenge is to select all 6 winners from 6 races during Saturday meetings.

If you meet this challenge you will win a share of the scoop6 win fund, which is frequently worth over £1 million, and you will also get the chance to play for the scoop6 bonus fund by picking the winner of a race the following Saturday.

Even if you fail to select all six winners you can win a share of the scoop6 place fund if your selections place in each of the 6 races. Even this lower prize has paid out over £1000 per winner 11 times in the last 12 months. All this for a £2 stake!

Verdict

The form of WESTERN CLIMATE's Hereford victory last month looks promising with Gayebury (second) winning a valuable Pertemps Qualifier at Chepstow last weekend and Bob Mahler (third) about to strike earlier this week but for a mistake by his rider on the home straight. He goes on any ground and an 8lb rise might not prevent Tom Weston's charge from following up. Willow's Saviour had a tough task at the weights last time but still ran respectably against a talented winner, while Hello George ran well on his recent reappearance and could go well once more for team Hobbs. Justification is fully unexposed and needs a market check.

Verdict

WESTERN CLIMATE, based on his beating of Gayebury, who went on to win a handicap off 132 by 13 lengths, could be thrown in from an opening mark of 128, so it's hard to oppose him despite the presence of a couple of resurgent sorts in Justification and Willow's Saviour, both of whom look well treated in their own right.

Verdict

WHATAKNIGHT was never travelling when pitched into Grade 2 company in the mud in the Cleeve last time, though it is possible he can take a forward step now encountering better ground. He makes some appeal on his comfortable Haydock victory over a similar trip in May. Arthurs Secret is a model of consistency and is unlikely to be far away, while C&D winner The Organist is worth a market check on his return from a spell chasing.

Verdict

MARKOV, a winning pointer who ground out a bumper success on Rules debut, has left the firm impression that he's a strong stayer in 3 hurdles outings to date, so the expectation is that he takes a marked step forward now upped in trip for his handicap debut. Big runs seem assured from Whataknight and Arthurs Secret, but the selection is much more unexposed.

Won this last year off 1 lb lower. Has been below that level of form for the most part this season, but this likely his main target, and no surprise to see a bold showing for shrewd yard.

Verdict

His winless run may stretch back to February 2014 but HARRY TOPPER ran a race full of promise in a similar event at Exeter last month and a step up in distance coupled with worsening ground would see Kim Bailey's veteran go very well. O'Faolains Boy has the class to land such an event but he might be using this to prepare for Aintree and he was poor on his seasonal reappearance last time, while Loose Chips is a consistent type who should ensure that this becomes a stamina-sapping test from the front.

Verdict

A number of these are potentially thrown in on their best form, but LOOSE CHIPS arrives in great heart, and looks the most solid proposition. Harry Topper may need a sterner test than this nowadays, but it would be folly to ignore his claims. Al Co and Katenko are others to consider.

4-time C&D winner. Thirteen runs since last win in 2016. 11/1, 3¾ lengths fifth of 6 to My Target in handicap at this C&D (AW) 21 days ago.

Verdict

MY TARGET has garnered a reputation as being a Lingfield specialist having won his four outings here over C&D and has never finished outside the frame at the Surrey venue. His win last time confirmed there was more improvement in the locker and a 5lb rise doesn't look particularly harsh. Chevallier has improved plenty of late for Archie Watson and has strong claims on his handicap win last week, while Third Time Lucky appreciated being ridden more forward when winning at Wolverhampton last month and those tactics could well see a new lease of life from Richard Fahey's charge.

Verdict

MY TARGET completed a C&D hat-trick in good style 3 weeks ago, scoring with a bit left up his sleeve despite things not going his way. The 6-y-o, who boasts a terrific record round here, is clearly at the top of his game and further success awaits. Alfred Hutchinson has already been beaten three times by the selection this winter, therefore Bunbury and Third Time Lucky rate the main dangers.

Won 11-runner 4-y-o event at Fontainebleau (by 14 lengths, making all and drawing clear in straight despite mistake 2 out) on hurdling debut in 2015/16 for Y. Fouin. No show on British debut.

Verdict

London Prize has a progressive profile over timber and was still to be asked a question when falling four from home in Listed company at Musselburgh last month. He showed no ill effects from that nasty experience when runner-up on the Flat just ten days later and rates a leading player here, but it's difficult to look past handicap debutant BLOODY MARY. The six-year-old arrived from France with a lofty reputation and did little wrong in two starts last year, winning at Taunton before finishing third behind the high-class Limini in the Grade 2 Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. The fact we haven't seen her since is a slight concern, but she potentially looks thrown in off an opening mark of 133 and gets the nod. Veteran performer Melodic Rendezvous ran well for a long way in the Kingwell Hurdle and is certainly no forlorn hope on his return to handicap duty.

Verdict

CHESTERFIELD was an ante-post springer in the Lanzarote on second start back from a lengthy absence, and though he failed to meet expectations, this trip is more suitable and he is certainly weighted to go very close. Market support for well-connected handicap debutante Bloody Mary on her return would look significant, with London Prize another to consider.

Frustrating sort but not disgraced in good handicaps at Cheltenham on last 3 starts. This a bit easier and wouldn't be any surprise to see him go well (won over this C&D off 6 lb higher in April).

Verdict

The eye is immediately drawn to the progressive profile of Oldgrangewood and Dan Skelton's hat-trick seeker should play a huge part in proceedings if he's improved again since beating Dresden at Wetherby. Hollywoodien and Vic De Touzaine are two consistent performers, but Paul Nicholls is the man to follow in this Grade 3 and the champion trainer saddles Vibrato Valtat and MORE BUCK'S. The former is the class horse in the race and may improve on recent performances now fitted with blinkers, but preference is for his less exposed stablemate. Three wins from just the seven chase starts, we haven't seen the best of him yet and if over his latest Cheltenham fall, he shaped as though the drop to this sort of trip would suit when running well in defeat at Kempton over Christmas.

Verdict

A tightly-knit handicap but O MAONLAI has a good record around here and the way he shaped in the Peter Marsh at Haydock 6 weeks ago suggests his revised mark is within his capabilities. Thomas Crapper is potentially on a handy mark and is another to consider, while Vic de Touzaine and Oldgrangewood are still improving.
