Scoop6 Saturday 21st July 2018

The tote scoop6 is a fantastic pool bet which gives you the chance to win a fortune for a £2 stake.

The challenge is to select all 6 winners from 6 races during Saturday meetings.

If you meet this challenge you will win a share of the scoop6 win fund, which is frequently worth over £1 million, and you will also get the chance to play for the scoop6 bonus fund by picking the winner of a race the following Saturday.

Even if you fail to select all six winners you can win a share of the scoop6 place fund if your selections place in each of the 6 races. Even this lower prize has paid out over £1000 per winner 11 times in the last 12 months. All this for a £2 stake!

Useful handicapper on the Flat who is relatively unexposed as a hurdler and didn't need to improve to get off the mark in a novice at Southwell last month, so he's one to consider.

Verdict

Dan Skelton has been in fine form this summer, currently operating at a strike-rate of 39%, and the handler who landed this with Red Tornado in 2016 can enjoy success this time with his hat-trick seeking FAIR MOUNTAIN, who has impressed when routing the opposition the last twice and now looks to make his mark in handicap company. Stablemate Mister Universum is respected and was in good order when winning at Warwick when last seen in May, while Artful Artist got off the mark in good style in a Southwell maiden last time and looks the type Dr Richard Newland could have plenty of success with. 2017 winning trainer Evan Williams relies on durable veteran Court Minstrel this time and the 11-year-old is respected back to the same mark as when winning the Silver Trophy at Chepstow last October.

Verdict

ARTFUL ARTIST is only 2 runs into life with Dr Richard Newland, so it's reasonable to assume he will go on progressing for a while yet, a mark of 122 likely to underestimate him back in handicaps if that is the case. He's a confident selection ahead of the progressive, Dan Skelton-trained pair Fair Mountain and Mister Universum.

Confirmed debut promise when landing the odds over 1½m at Chepstow. Improved when fourth in Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot (14.2f) since and claims if coping with this step up in trip on handicap bow.

Verdict

Almoghared is the most interesting player in the line-up, switched to handicap company after finishing fourth behind subsequent Group 1 winner Kew Gardens in the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot, but Willie Mullins' STRATUM gets the nod. This high-class dual purpose performer arrives on the back of a career-best performance in the Ascot Stakes, where he ran a blinder to finish third despite being caught wide throughout. Dropping back from 2m4f shouldn't be a problem and the first-time hood could eke out further improvement, so a big run looks on the cards. Coeur de Lion, sixth in the Ascot Stakes, and Quloob, who wears first-time cheekpieces, are others to note.

Verdict

The vote goes to QULOOB, who did nothing but progress in 2017 and his Newmarket reappearance offered hope that this new trip will be within his range, and that there could be even better to come from him this year. Stratum did well to finish as close as he did in the Ascot Stakes and is a live danger, while Coeur De Lion and Cleonte also performed well in that race and are others to consider.

Followed up her Redcar maiden success with victory on handicap debut at Windsor (10f) 26 days ago. Bred for this longer trip and has to enter calculations.

Verdict

MELODIC MOTION may prefer slightly softer ground than she is likely to encounter here but she clearly brings the best form to the table. A close second in the Park Hill and third in the Lillie Langtry last year gives the four-year-old a big shout and she can bounce back after a disappointing seasonal return at York. Ejtyah clearly failed to show her best in the Oaks but the return to fast ground should suit based on her effort in the Musidora. Alwaysandforever and Highgarden are the pick of the remainder.

Verdict

A case can be made for all of these fillies, but ALWAYSANDFOREVER arrives in fine heart and was only just foiled in a similar event at Pontefract last time. She can resume winning ways. Melodic Motion could prove most troublesome, if the first-time headgear has the desired effect.

Tough and consistent colt who made a seamless transition to group company when runner-up in the Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle (6f) 3 weeks ago. Should be on the premises once again.

Verdict

A chance is taken on EQUILATERAL to bounce back from a disappointing 12th-placed finish in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. The Equiano colt impressed when bolting up in a novice contest two starts ago, he is the least exposed runner in the field and represents the stable which has won two of the last three renewals. Bacchus foiled a massive gamble on Dreamfield when winning the Wokingham Handicap four weeks ago and, entitled to improve for that first run since October, he must enter calculations. Hey Jonesy and Invincible Army, fifth and ninth respectively in the Commonwealth Cup, make up the shortlist.

Verdict

EQUILATERAL was a shade disappointing in the Commonwealth Cup but the memory of his reappearance demolition job at Doncaster remains fresh in the mind. He looked every inch a group-class sprinter that day and can confirm that impression by striking here. Projection's form is just about the best on offer and he is feared most ahead of Invincible Army and Wokingham hero Bacchus.

Has done nothing but improve over fences, completing a quick-fire hat-trick at Southwell (20.3f) in June, despite idling run-in. Handicapper applies more pressure but further progress highly likely.

Verdict

Last year's winner Alcala was beaten by Bagad Bihoue at Newton Abbot last time out and the suspicion is that the latter is open to more improvement than the former. The pair provide Paul Nicholls with a strong hand in the race, while Calett Mad is a useful handicap chaser and enjoys racing on this decent surface. Too Many Diamonds has been thriving during the summer for the in-form Skelton operation, but this can go the way of MORE BUCK'S. He won a nice pot at Perth last time on stable debut for Peter Bowen and looks open to plenty of improvement despite an 8lb rise.

Verdict

A typically competitive renewal with the narrow vote in favour of TOO MANY DIAMONDS. The 7-y-o faces his toughest assignment to date but has been impressive in lesser contests of late and likely remains on a workable mark. Peter Bowen has a good record in this race and his recent recruit More Buck's makes appeal. Last year's winner Alcala is also shortlisted.
