Unreliable hurdler who typically followed creditable effort with a poor one at Catterick a fortnight ago. Others more appealing despite another drop in the weights.

Verdict

ASK PADDY has been a wide-margin winner the last twice and the five-year-old can defy an 18lb rise and continue his progress for Sam England. He easily saw off the challenge of Lochalsh over course and distance last time out and shouldn't have any issue confirming the form, despite the swing in the weights. Sulamani The Late is interesting for a yard that does very well here, while Calarules should appreciate a first try at 2m 4f.

Verdict

ASK PADDY had so much to spare when making all over C&D last time that he's worth a chance to overcome a hefty rise in a weak race bidding to land the hat-trick. The in-form Captain Mowbray will be on hand to take advantage if the selection is not on his game for whatever reason, while the unexposed Calarules isn't ruled out either.

Yet to make an impact over hurdles and still looks far too high in the weights despite a 5 lb drop since handicap debut.

Verdict

Modulus won well last time out in conditions that played to his strengths, though that race looked to fall apart and a 7lb rise won't help matters in his bid to follow up. Manwell returned to some kind of form in that same contest and should be in the money once more, but the eye is drawn to LE BRAYE, who has bumped into the likes of High Bridge, Geordie Des Champs and Gayebury in maiden company and he could be well treated off a mark of 102.

Verdict

MODULUS' 2 recent wins have come on very testing going, but he's still fairly unexposed and gets the nod. Manwell could be dangerous if able to finish his race off better than the last twice, while Pikarina is another unexposed sort and may play a part if over what ailed him last time.

Just modest form in bumpers so far and remains to be seen if switch to hurdling brings about any improvement.

Verdict

Favourites have an excellent record in this race, winning each of the last three renewals, and MOLLY CAREW rates a rock-solid ''jolly'' this time around. The form of her cosy Lingfield success took a big boost when the third came out and won next time and a repeat performance alone, although she is entitled to improve further, should see her follow up. Irish raider Indy Island rates the biggest threat, ahead of hurdling newcomer Oscar's Song.

Verdict

MOLLY CAREW caused something of a surprise when scoring at Lingfield last time but will likely appreciate this stiffer test and should take plenty of beating. Indy Island looks the obvious danger.

Got much closer to pick of hurdles form when third in Wetherby handicap chase (Chasma second) 3 weeks ago but still more needed for win purposes.

Verdict

The Mythologist was travelling strongly when falling two out at Market Rasen last month and would have obvious claims on that performance. That said, he has yet to prove himself fully when coming off the bridle so preference goes to chasing debutant EMERALD THIEF, who has modest form so far over timber but looks the type to improve now tackling the larger obstacles. Bandol merits plenty of respect on his recent form, while Whitsundays is entitled to improve for his recent run here.

Verdict

THE MYTHOLOGIST looked the most likely winner before falling 2 out at Market Rasen last month and is worth backing to make amends off the same mark. Better is expected of Bandol now going back up in trip and he looks the most likely danger.

Has hinted at ability over hurdles, but no impact in a couple of handicaps since returning from a lay-off and need to see more before lending support.

Verdict

This looks a match on paper between RAISE A SPARK and Dark And Dangerous with slight preference going to the former. Donald McCain's string have been in good heart of late and won as he pleased in a hands and heels event at Carlisle last week. Most notably, he escapes any sort of penalty so this looks shrewd placement from connections before getting a rise in the weights. The latter is hugely respected going for the four-timer, while the veteran Brave Spartacus is open to improvement from his return effort here last month.

Verdict

RAISE A SPARK escapes a penalty for his recent Carlisle success and can notch a fourth win of the campaign. Course-specialist Dark And Dangerous is another who has been prolific of late and is the obvious one to give Donald McCain's charge most to do.

Poor strike rate but has run well when finishing runner-up over C&D on his last 3 starts. Ought to be bang there again.

Verdict

Asockastar has a patchy profile over jumps and looks likely to be short enough in the betting, while Spread Boy has a bit to find on recent efforts. Captain Sharpe and Roxyfet often go well at this venue and the latter, especially, looks well handicapped, though DUHALLOWCOUNTRY has impressed in recent displays and his winning turn looks close. Victor Thompson has found the 11-year-old an excellent opportunity to end his long winless run, which stretches back to his victory in this renewal 12 months ago.

Verdict

ASOCKASTAR has to be of interest given he's twice been runner-up off higher marks over hurdles this season and can make his first chase start for Tim Vaughan a winning one. Duhallowcountry arrives in top form but may have to settle for minor honours again.

From a yard which does well in these events but she was well behind Donnachies Girl on last month's Wetherby debut. May do better with that experience behind her.

Sent off at 50/1 but has a reasonable Flat pedigree and shaped well when third of 11 on Wetherby debut 3 weeks ago. Likely to be a tough nut to crack if she can reproduce that here.

Verdict

DONNACHIES GIRL shaped encouragingly when third on debut at Wetherby and should be able to find what is needed to score here with normal improvement. Irish raider Who's For Tea represents a stable that have been amongst the winners and is the one expected to put up most resistance, as Brian Elllison's Xin Chao changed hands for just 3,800 pounds in December and both Cockley Beck and M Seven Seven Gus need to improve on their previous efforts to figure.

Verdict

DONNACHIES GIRL had a couple of these in behind when a promising third on last month's Wetherby debut and has to be the percentage call, though strong market support for newcomers Xin Chao and/or Who's For Tea would put a slightly different slant on things.
