Limited long-standing maiden, but he's run with credit on his last 4 starts now so he's in with an each-way squeak.

Verdict

The Sedgefield specialist ROXYFET switches to hurdles now, having performed well over the larger obstacles at this venue throughout the current season. This allows Micky Hammond's gelding to compete off a 14lb lower mark (7lb well-in today) so he ticks plenty of boxes. Malpreedy went close at Southwell last time and the application of a tongue-tie could eke out the required improvement, while Fiddler's Flight may be underestimated off a dangerously low mark at a course he has run well at before.

Verdict

ANGE DES MALBERAUX is a C&D winner (from this mark) and has been shaping up quite well of late, so this is probably his for the taking. Roxyfet's lower hurdles mark is fully justified but he's still a threat, along with Malpreedy.

Verdict

John Quinn's RAISED ON GRAZEON has proved a more than handy mare this season having scored twice and not finished outside of the top three in her six starts. She can make it three wins for 2018 here in a much easier contest than those she has won, with Kaine Wood's 5lb claim in the saddle a real positive. Birch Vale should be suited by the drop back in trip and Brian Hughes in the plate, while Trooblue represents the shrewd Sue Smith stable.

Verdict

BIRCH VALE shaped much better than the distance beaten suggests on her hurdling bow, and there’s every chance she can leave that form well behind. Raised On Grazeon and Paper Roses are obvious threats.

Produced an effort full of encouragement when second in 17f novice handicap hurdle here recently, shaping like the best horse at the weights. Of firm interest now chasing.

Verdict

FRANKIE BALLOU has impressed in two recent victories here and can land a course and distance hat-trick for Yorkshire handler Joanne Foster under a 7lb penalty. Charlie Snow Angel got his head in front at Newcastle last time and just a 2lb rise should ensure he remains competitive here, while Minella Voucher is another with recent winning form who has to be given serious respect.

Verdict

FRANKIE BALLOU and Minella Voucher are both seeking hat-tricks and Jo Foster's charge can come home in front again. This track clearly brings out the best in him and he can notch up a third C&D win in the space of a month. Simply Business ran a big race over hurdles here recently and is interesting on her chase debut.

Offered little in 3 starts for current yard and easily passed over.

Verdict

DIEG MAN faltered when having his sights raised at Ascot last time and he can get back to his best in calmer waters around a course he thrived at in November. Blottos has three lengths to make up with the selection on their Catterick encounter, while Black Art provides Sue Smith with a more than handy second string in the race. Quick Pick has won twice at this venue in novice contests and is another who shouldn't be dismissed.

Verdict

QUICK PICK failed to make an impact in a deeper race at Sandown last time, but he’s strongly respected returning to the scene of his novice wins. There are dangers however, with Blottos, Henry’s Joy and Dieg Man all capable of making their presence felt.

Verdict

LORD NAPIER has shown a decent level of form so far and he won a handy maiden when getting off the mark at Ludlow last time. He is penalised accordingly here, but is backed to progress once again to put in another leading performance for his Welsh raiding team. Local handler Rebecca Menzies saddles Emerald Chieftan, who was a winner on his last appearance in the pointing field, while Ask Jd is another who has been seen to good effect between the flags of late.

Verdict

LORD NAPIER created a good impression when winning at Ludlow last month and can follow up with this stiffer test sure to suit. Emerald Chieftan is interesting on his Rules debut having won a point last time. Ask Jd has also shown a bit between the flags and is worth a look.

Finally got off the mark under Rules when landing a weak Hexham handicap chase (3m) last week, drawing clear from 2 out. This tougher under a penalty.

Verdict

KINGS ECLIPSE was only a length away from going back-to-back here last time and Andrew Wilson's strong stayer and his regular partner Brian Hughes look the safest option. Mahler Lad was fourth that day, but has since scored at Musselburgh and has to be respected, while Nelly La Rue can't be ruled out having scored easily at Hexham last week and now with just a 7lb penalty to contend with in this contest.

Verdict

KINGS ECLIPSE, a winning pointer, has unsurprisingly improved immediately on his hurdling form switched to larger obstacles, scoring over C&D in December prior to losing little caste in defeat back here the following month. He rates a solid proposition in this field and can resume winning ways. Mahler Lad and Lowanbehold rate next best.

Exposed maiden hurdler who offered little on the back of 9 months off at Catterick recently. 3 lb "wrong" at the weights here.

Verdict

HOUNDSCOURT made all to score at Southwell last time and Danny Cook is sure to be kicking and shoving once again from the front as Joanne Foster's quirky veteran looks to defy a 7lb rise. Agent Louise was pulled up that day but has since thrived in the Uttoxeter mud and has to be on the shortlist under a 7lb penalty, while stablemate Turtle Cask is another who has to be considered having put in his best performance for a while when second at Hexham recently.

Verdict

A number arrive with claims but it may pay to side with C&D winner AGENT LOUISE, who bounced back to form with a determined display at Uttoxeter on Saturday. Turtle Cask, Houndscourt and Broadway Belle are all viable threats, though.
