Little solid form and easily opposed from so far out of the weights.

Little solid form and easily opposed from so far out of the weights.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT WALK wasn't far away when second at Southwell last time and most importantly the handicapper has only raised her 1lb for that effort which gives her a fantastic chance of going one better. Lochnell is a consistent alternative and looks the pick of Scottish handler Ian Duncan's pair, while Irish raider Sultana Belle could have more to come on just her second start for her Ronan McNally.

Verdict

Already successful off this mark over timber, LOCHNELL has shaped well in both starts over the larger obstacles this term and is taken to resume winning ways in the opener. Midnight Walk made a pleasing start to her chasing career at Southwell last time and looks the obvious danger.

Improved again (albeit poor form) when runner-up at Market Rasen (16.6f) 2 weeks ago. Entitled to give his running again but vulnerable to anything open to progression.

Verdict

TEESCOMPONENTS MAX has knocked on the door the last twice over hurdles and has the chance to get off the mark here from an inviting mark for local handler Gillian Bonas. Charmant has been running better than the bare results suggest and he could provide the main opposition, while Hit And Run, Monsieur Murphy and Indian Reel are respected representing leading stables.

Verdict

Donald McCain has his string in fine fettle, so a chance is taken on HIT AND RUN. He's a lightly-raced 5-y-o who should strip fitter for his midfield Uttoxeter return last month and he could well be ready to strike. Charmant and Tesscomponents Max are a couple of others to consider.

Won her sole start in Irish maiden points but of little/no account under Rules. Not one to be interested in.

Verdict

Nicky Richards' Hello Fellas disappointed at Newcastle last time when sent off favourite. He was too keen in the early stages that day and a hood is now reached for which could help him travel better into the race. However, preference is for INNISCASTLE LAD, who was two places ahead in third that day, following up a respectable performance behind Ravenhill Road, and he looks to have plenty of ability. Desert Ruler has some smart Flat form and is another to consider on his hurdles bow.

Verdict

INNISCASTLE LAD sets the standard on form, and can continue to head in the right direction for the bang in-form Donald McCain yard. Blottos is a likely improver with his recent run behind him, while bumper winner Baracalu should be capable of much better in the sphere and makes up the shortlist.

Yet to get his head in front and both starts last month were disappointing, so others preferred.

Verdict

Local handler Rebecca Menzies can give her punters something to shout about here courtesy of SMILING JESSICA, who has knocked on the door the last twice and remains on a winnable mark here. Dick Darsie was still travelling well in a race which has worked out well when unseating his rider last time and has to be considered for Sue Smith, while Ask Paddy was a dual winner here last season and could be capable of more success at the Durham venue.

Verdict

WOOD PIGEON was strong in the betting but failed to meet expectations on return/debut for this yard, though might be worth another chance back over fences with headgear refitted. Ask Paddy, Pinch of Ginger and Kings Eclipse are a trio of interesting chasing debutants that need keeping an eye on.

Heavy-ground winner over 3m at Sligo in August 2016. Patchy form since and never involved tackling 17f on return at Carlisle last month. Trip likely to prove inadequate again.

Verdict

VISERION has been steadily dropping down the weights and shaped with some promise when sixth last time at Carlisle. Donald McCain's string seem to be an improved bunch, on the whole, this season and this looks a more than winnable race. Cape Of Glory has been in good form of late without winning and is respected once again, while Mac Cennetig makes some appeal on stable debut for Micky Hammond.

Verdict

From a reduced mark VISERION bounced back to form when a close-up sixth at Carlisle last month, and he is fancied to make the breakthrough in handicaps at the fourth attempt. Cape of Glory is proving consistent and should make his presence felt, with Mac Cennetig also considered.

Verdict

CAPTIVA ISLAND improved from his hurdles debut when runner-up to Du Soleil at Uttoxeter last month and looks likely to improve for the step up to 2m4f for the first time. Contented was a beaten favourite at Taunton last time when second to Shoal Bay and looks a key player along with Haighall, who caught the eye when falling two out at Carlisle behind Count Meribel when relatively unfancied.

Verdict

CAPTIVA ISLAND upped his game when just caught at Uttoxeter last time and is bred to appreciate this step up in trip. He is taken to open his account. Contented and Stay In Touch can fight it out for the minor honours.

Verdict

THEATRE LEGEND improved considerably from his debut when winning a bumper over C&D in October and, despite carrying a 7lb penalty, the son of Midnight Legend looks capable of further improvement. Dunkereen can take a step forward from his debut when fourth at Ayr and has a first-time hood and tongue tie to assist, while Lucky Lucarno and Tab Hogarth are two newcomers worthy of interest.

Verdict

Not a deep bumper on paper, so MASTEEN, a half-brother to 3 winners, could well be up to the task. Theatre Legend has to be feared as a last-time-out winner, while Dunkereen was backed as though capable of much better on his opening run.
