Poor maiden and easily passed over from out of the handicap.

Verdict

MILLIE THE MINX has made the frame on her last couple of starts and that includes her second-placed finish over 2m1f here at the beginning of the month. She is 5lb well in this afternoon, having been raised to a mark of 84 for that performance, and the four-year-old is clearly the one to beat. Copt Hill was not at his very best last time out but could make the frame today, while Bertie Blake is also noted.

Verdict

LANDSCAPE's losing run is an obvious concern but he has joined a shrewd outfit and is operating from a further reduced mark, so he could be worth chancing to put it together today. Millie The Minx has sound claims on recent form and is feared most, ahead of Hear The Chimes.

Won a point in the spring and already a better chaser than hurdler, good second of 11 in handicap chase at Southwell (24f, good) 29 days ago. Should go well again.

Verdict

KOVERA arguably put in a career-best performance under Rules when finishing second at Southwell last month and this appears to be an ideal opportunity for the six-year-old to go one better. Shaiyzar filled third place in the same contest and he could chase home the selection once again today. Others to consider in this contest are Torhousemuir and The Ogle Gogle Man.

Verdict

KOVERA is already a better chaser than hurdler and this point winner remains with potential in this sphere after just 2 starts. Shaiyzar is feared most ahead of Torhousemuir.

Verdict

Ilewin Geez arguably sets the standard having already won twice this season but the 14lb penalty he has to carry makes him vulnerable today. With that in mind, the preference is for INFORMATEUR, who bumped into an above-average rival when finishing second at Hexham last month and he appears to have plenty in his favour today. Mance Rayder would have a chance based on his best form but he was not the most predictable of performers when trained by Philip Hobbs.

Verdict

INFORMATEUR made an encouraging return to action when second at Hexham last month and should take a bit of stopping in receipt of plenty of weight from likely main danger Ilewin Geez.

Verdict

STORMBAY BOMBER wasn't allowed to dominate at Stratford last time against two front-runners but should be more at home here in a contest where he could get the run of things. A mark of 88 looks there to be taken advantage of and he can edge out Notonebuttwo, who isn't the most consistent now at the age of 11, and Grow Nasa Grow, who should appreciate the services of Brian Hughes on board for the first time.

Verdict

NOTONEBUTTWO has made a positive start for this yard if his latest run can be forgiven and is worth another chance in a weak event. Grow Nasa Grow and Stormbay Bomber are others to consider.

Stopped the rot in emphatic fashion when causing an upset on last month's return to action at Hexham (23.3f). Thorough stayer and retains handicap scope, but far from certain to be in the same mood.

More consistent than a lot at this level and deservedly opened her account over this C&D on heavy ground in March. Since doubled tally at Hexham in June and she has to go on the shortlist.

Verdict

HANDY HOLLOW shaped encouragingly over 2m3f at Kelso last time and should be suited by this even greater test of stamina. A mark of 107 looks to be workable for the five-year-old and he can see off Moorlands Mist, who won at Hexham on his reappearance after ending last season with three failed attempts to complete, and Broadway Belle, who has been absent since her own Hexham success in June.

Verdict

BROADWAY BELLE's consistency at this level is a major selling point, and this previous C&D scorer is taken to pick up where she left off this summer. Handy Hollow is second choice, though You're So Right needs monitoring in the betting starting out for Keith Dalgleish.

Pretty useful handicapper at his best on the Flat but well held in a couple of comeback outings for new yard this autumn and remains to be seen if he fares any better on this very belated hurdle bow.

Fairly useful form when runner-up on second of 3 starts on Flat for Charlie Appleby in 2017. Hurdle debut fifth at Bangor in August wasn't without promise but he'll need to step up on that form.

Verdict

Chosen Flame got off the mark between the flags when last seen in May before joining Rose Dobbin and warrants a market check, although the form of that success doesn't appear to have worked out so far. Dark Ruler was rated 91 at his pomp on the Flat, while Theatre Legend ran in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree last term and is also respected. However, it could be worth sticking with the unbeaten I'M TO BLAME, who did it well in two bumpers last winter and is bred to make up into a nice hurdling type for his powerful connections.

Verdict

I'M TO BLAME looked very useful when winning both bumpers last winter and is likely to take plenty of stopping now switched to hurdles on his return. Theatre Legend also notched a couple of bumper wins last season (both here) and could be the one to chase Keith Dalgleish's charge home.
