Won couple of selling hurdles for David Pipe this winter but well held in a couple of starts for current yard ahead of this return to the Flat.

Verdict

SAMTU won well on his return from 206 days off the track here last week and can strike again while the iron is hot. The dreaded 'bounce' factor is a slight concern, but while that impressive display over the 1m6f trip remains fresh in the memory he is difficult to oppose. Tatting was chasing a hat-trick when finishing last of seven here in January and, freshened up since, he rates the main danger. Busy Street and Storm King can also get involved.

Verdict

This may develop into a straight fight between recent course winners STORM KING and Samtu. The former escapes a penalty for his success in an apprentice event here 5 days ago and is narrowly preferred.

Verdict

GNAAD has the experience, sets a clear form standard and connections will be disappointed if he gets turned over. The main danger looks to be Hungarian Rhapsody, who shaped with plenty of promise on his introduction over 6f at Kempton and is unlikely to be inconvenienced by dropping in trip, while Darvie can improve on his debut seventh at Thirsk last year.

Verdict

HUNGARIAN RHAPSODY showed promise on last month's Kempton debut and is taken to improve past the more established Gnaad in what could develop into a match between the pair unless the market speaks in the favour of something else.

Verdict

Most eyes will be focussing on events at Prestbury Park this afternoon, though it might be worth casting a glance at John Jenkins' pair in the betting as he's won two of the last three runnings of this race, which coincides with the first day of the Cheltenham Festival. Only Ten Per Cent has been running over further recently and has the assistance of Ali Rawlinson in the saddle, though preference is for OSCARS JOURNEY, who won off 6lb higher here over 6f in April. The booking of Jamie Spencer for Satchville Flyer also catches the eye.

Verdict

BOROUGH BOY didn't deliver all he promised here last time but it was still an effort which suggests he can take advantage of his reduced mark soon and he's preferred to Red Flute, who also showed more positive signs last time. Jacob's Pillow has a string of good efforts to his name in similar contests and also makes the shortlist.

Unreliable individual. 5-time course winner. Twenty one runs since last win in 2016. 9/4, creditable third of 11 in handicap at this course (5f) 7 days ago.

Verdict

The line of form to concentrate on is that which saw ESCALATING get the better of Crosse Fire (second) over the minimum trip here three weeks ago. The runner-up has since run well in defeat here and Mick Appleby's charge won with something in hand - shaping as though the extra furlong would suit. 5lb higher in the weights, the booking of Silvestre De Sousa suggests connections are confident of another big run. Vroom and Bahamian Dollar are also respected.

Verdict

ESCALATING got his career firmly back on track when doing it nicely over 5f here last month and can make light of a 5 lb rise in the weights as he's likely to be at least as effective back over 6f. Course-specialist Bring On A Spinner is respected back at his optimum trip, while Crosse Fire's losing run is mounting up but he has posted good placed efforts here on his last 2 starts.

Verdict

DOSE won a C&D handicap in January and has held her form in two outings since. She appears capable of figuring on these terms and remains open to further improvement after 15 career starts. Greyfriarschorista will appreciate the step up in trip after being tapped for toe over 7f here last time and can battle it out with C&D winner Stun Gun for the minor money. It will be interesting to see if the fitting of a first-time tongue-tie can spark improvement from Starfield.

Verdict

GREYFRIARSCHORISTA didn't look totally straightforward under pressure in handicap company here on Thursday but holds sound claims of adding to his fibresand haul on these terms. Dose is in better form that most so is feared, though Starfield is dangerous if bouncing back to anything like his best.

28/1, seventh of 9 in handicap at this course (6f) 5 days ago.

Verdict

HAMMER GUN was sent off at 100-1 when winning over this C&D last week but he will be afforded much more respect this time round and is taken to strike again, despite having to shoulder a 6lb penalty. Rupert Boy shaped well on his recent comeback and is a likely improver, while the return to this surface could see Dark Forest involved.

Verdict

RUPERT BOY is well weighted nowadays, and having fared best of the front runners when third over C&D a week ago, he now looks poised to strike. A case can be made for several of these, but it will be particularly interesting to see whether Hammer Gun can build on last week's shock course win.
