Still a maiden after 21 starts in bumpers, over hurdles, and over fences. Has to carry 8lb more than his allotted weight and has been off for exactly 2 years. Would be a shock winner.

Verdict

GOOSEN MAVERICK was six lengths clear of Dontmindboys when scoring at Warwick last time and the ease in which he took that contest suggests the 10lb hike from the handicapper should be well within his capabilities. Corner Creek scored over three miles here last time and has to be considered, although the burden of top-weight could tell when it counts, while Johnny Burke is an interesting jockey booking aboard Gillian Boanas' French Seventyfive who has threatened to get involved on his latest engagements.

Verdict

GOOSEN MAVERICK won so easily last time out that he may well be able to shrug off his rise in the handicap and follow up this afternoon for trainer Grant Cann. If not, then Global Domination looks a lively danger, though both Corner Creek and Redmond could also get involved.

Added to tally at Huntingdon (23.6f) in October but inflated mark enough to prevent him making an impact in 2 recent outings.

Verdict

ROCKNROLLRAMBO racked up a hat-trick in the spring and could be hard to beat if leaving his comeback run at Chepstow in the past. A return to a sounder surface can suit and he gets the nod here over Hepijeu who is not the easiest customer and has hit the frame the last twice. Paul O'Brien's 5lb could be valuable aboard Barton Rose, while any support for course and distance winners Weyburn and That's The Deal should be respected.

Verdict

HEPIJEU will appreciate the drop back in trip and is taken to return to winning ways on his first outing for new handler Geoffrey Deacon. Rocknrollrambo should be sharper with a recent comeback run behind him and is feared on the form he showed when runner-up twice in the spring, while Midnight Gem is better than she showed last time and also makes the shortlist.

Left her hurdling debut form behind when fourth of 12 in novice event at Warwick (16f, soft) 25 days ago. Probably has more to give yet and merits consideration.

Verdict

Point winner ARTICLE FIFTY scored in taking fashion in a Uttoxeter bumper on his rules debut and Warren Greatrex's exciting four-year-old is fancied to make a smooth transition to hurdles here. Santo De Lune was well backed when third last time, and can be given another chance hailing from a top yard, while Tossapenny comes with a hefty 170,000 pounds price tag and looks an exciting prospect to follow.

Verdict

ARTICLE FIFTY has already scored between the flags and showed fairly useful form when scoring at the first time of asking under Rules in a Uttoxeter bumper last month. He is taken to make a successful hurdling debut. Tossapenny and La Fille Francaise head the dangers.

Lightly-raced maiden under NH rules. 100/1, first run since leaving Brian Barr when sixth of 7 in novice hurdle at Doncaster (19.4f, good to soft) on hurdles bow 15 days ago. Easy to look elsewhere.

Verdict

Gunfleet ran better than the bare result suggests when fifth last time on his hurdles bow and the bumper winner is entitled to get involved here, along with Ballygomartin who saw the form of his own bumper win franked by the second in a hot Ascot contest and wasn't disgraced at Cheltenham behind a useful prospect when last seen. However, preference is for THE GROOVY HOOVY who was only beaten a head on his sole bumper appearance in the summer, and it is thought there would be plenty more to come from the well thought of five-year-old now tackling timber.

Verdict

GUNFLEET is shaping up well all things considered over hurdles, finishing with running left having been shuffled back before the straight at Uttoxeter last month. He can make it third time lucky with further improvement expected. This does look competitive though, with First Assignment, Ballygomartin and Shannon Bridge also entering the reckoning.

No chance with the easy winner when second of 8 at Warwick in May 2016. Subsequent absence has to be a concern but it can be argued she is well treated if all is well.

Verdict

STEPOVER has only been raised 3lb for her success at Hereford last month and that may not be enough to stop this in-form mare from going in once again today. Midnight Silver has to shoulder top weight but she has the ability to make the frame in a race of this nature. Fool To Cry was not disgraced at Huntingdon last time out and warrants consideration, while Oscar Rose would have a big chance if taking up this engagement instead of her entry at Cheltenham yesterday.

Verdict

This looks trappy, but STEPOVER is something of a course specialist and for one of her ability can boast a commendable strike rate, so she looks the way to go. Oscar Rose is a potential improver if turning out quickly after Cheltenham, while Kaddys Dream is worth monitoring in the betting on her belated return.

Fair form in bumpers and offered plenty to work on in this sphere when second in Warwick novice hurdle (16f, good to soft) last month. Bred for this type of test and is a big player.

Verdict

The form of OSCAR STAR's runner-up finish at Plumpton last month could hardly have worked out any better. The first has won again since, by 14 lengths, while the third has has also been successful subsequently. Cabaret Queen won at Market Rasen in October but found one too good under a penalty next time and the same result could await her today. Our Belle Amie is another to consider.

Verdict

OUR BELLE AMIE should have derived plenty of benefit from her encouraging Warwick hurdling bow last month and has plenty of stamina in her pedigree. She can open her account. Cabaret Queen looks the most likely danger.
