Verdict

A tough race for punters to get their teeth into but BLUE EMPIRE looks a reliable option in a race devoid of consistent performers. A four-time C&D winner, John Harris' charge was a tad disappointing when sent off a hot favourite for a seller here last time but this looks weaker and the seven-year-old is taken to resume winning ways under a top amateur rider. Wodhill Schnaps meets the selection on 3lb better terms compared to when beaten a length and a quarter by him over C&D last month but may again be booked for the runners-up spot.

Verdict

An easy six-length winner over seven furlongs here last time, COPPERBOTTOMED shouldn't be inconvenienced by this drop in trip and should be able to burn these rivals off. Her Name Is Rio would be on the premises if putting her best foot forward but she has been pulling too hard for her own good in recent races and while this drop in trip should help, she may have to settle for a minor role. One Called Alice has been running well in handicaps of late and looks a danger.

Verdict

Dancing Wave shaped well on her debut but, as her pedigree suggests, she is likely to be suited by further. Conversely, COUNT ALMAVIVA possesses a speedy pedigree and with Kevin Ryan's yard in good form, the son of Rossini can open his account at the first time of asking. Handcuff also looks a likely sort on paper and is related to some horses that were pretty quick as juveniles. Market support for Jamie Osborne's charge would be well worth noting. Bad Beat cut little ice on his debut and needs to improve.

Verdict

This step up in trip looks just the ticket for AZABU JUBAN, who was putting in good late work when a staying-on fourth of 15 behind No To Trident at Doncaster earlier this month. She posted a similarly eye-catching effort on her debut at this track last month and this is a good opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag. Dinarius tackles this surface for the first time and, if handling it, should be thereabouts, while the Alan Swinbank-trained Flagstone has only had four starts and could well have improved during the winter.

Verdict

Kamal is proving frustrating to follow and is taken on here with SWALLOW FOREST. The selection hasn't pulled up any trees in her four starts to date but she has shown definite glimmers of ability and could easily be good enough to see off some modest rivals. Heron was just in front of the selection in the race won by Hurricane Hen at Wolverhampton but meets the David Barron's charge on 2lb worse terms this time. Straight and Admirals Way are others to consider.

Verdict

The hat-trick seeking ZAFFEAU seemingly had plenty left in the locker when landing a C&D claimer latest and, unpenalised for that victory, is taken to score again. Muntami is capable in this grade but is none too consistent, so Cragganmore Creek can give Zaffeau most to do. David Morris' charge was beaten 12 lengths behind the selection here in January but bounced back when scoring over 11 furlongs, again at this track, subsequently. Best of the rest appears to be Tioga Gold.
