Verdict

BAGS GROOVE did disappoint when well beaten in a Listed event at Huntingdon last month but that event was a lot stronger than this one. The second from that race, Messire Des Obeaux, finished third in the Neptune at the Cheltenham Festival last week. Capeland is the obvious danger but his bumper form looks weak now and his hurdling form does not appear to be anything above average. Molineaux would be the clear pick of the remainder.

Verdict

BAGS GROOVE disappointed at Huntingdon last month, but his profile previously was a positive one and he gets the nod back in calmer waters. Capeland who was too free at Exeter in January and Molineaux head up the dangers.

Fair maiden on Flat (stays 1½m) for Ismail Mohammed, running creditably when placed in AW handicaps on both starts this year. Hurdling debut.

Verdict

The form of HIGH SECRET's third-placed finish at Musselburgh last month was boosted when the second went on to finish third to River Wylde in a Grade 2 at Kempton a couple of weeks later. With that in mind, the former useful Flat performer gets the nod ahead of Resolution Bay. The Philip Hobbs-representative was not at his best last time out but his form prior to that is solid. Boagrius was a beaten odds-on favourite last time out and he has something to prove today.

Verdict

HIGH SECRET produced a pretty useful effort when third in a decent race at Musselburgh on the back of his C&D hurdling debut success and should take a bit of stopping with further progress on the cards. Resolution Bay was a shade disappointing in a handicap here last time but a return to the form he showed at Ascot prior to that could see him fill the forecast spot ahead of Boagrius.

Dual winner over fences last season but below par over both sets of obstacles this term.

Verdict

A LITTLE MAGIC has improved plenty on his last couple of starts when winning at both Huntingdon and Catterick and has the potential to eke out further improvement from the application of a first-time tongue-tie. Mr Medic was progressive in the autumn and will undoubtedly have waited for better ground so is respected on that score, while Helium ran with credit at Sandown earlier in the month when third behind Rock On Rocky and completes the shortlist.

Verdict

MR MEDIC's absence since winning twice over fences in the autumn has presumably been with the aim of avoiding deep ground over the winter and Robert Walford's progressive sort is taken to complete a hat-trick on his return. A Little Magic is another chasing 3 wins a row and looks the obvious big danger ahead of Lou Vert.

Verdict

A decent race on paper which sees Hint Of Mint going for the hat-trick of successes over C&D and he has gone up 9lb in the weights for both wins. While he has very solid claims, preference goes to WISHFULL DREAMING, who ran respectably at Sandown behind Brain Power back in December and returns from a break with good ground ideal for this full brother to Wishfull Thinking. Beltor should find this more to his liking having finished seventh behind Ballyandy in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and is back down to the mark he ran off when third at Kempton to Bigmartre.

Verdict

WISHFULL DREAMING was far from disgraced behind Brain Power at Sandown in December, and back on better ground after a break he could be the answer in an interesting contest. The hat-trick seeking Hint of Mint and handicap debutant Amour de Nuit head up the dangers.

Verdict

LEG LOCK LUKE was a disappointing beaten favourite when last seen finishing third at Fontwell but the ground wasn't in his favour on that day and he rates as the one to beat back at 2m on a sounder surface. Bajardo fared well when second at Market Rasen 137 days ago on his reappearance and should go well with a first-time tongue-tie applied, while the consistent pairing of Deise Vu and Zama Zama could also figure at the finish.

Verdict

LEG LOCK LUKE was most disappointing at Fontwell last time, but he went down all guns blazing when second to an in-form rival here on his penultimate start. He's 1 lb lower now and, moreover, could take some pegging back if ridden aggressively back at the minimum trip. Deise Vu has been knocking on the door and he has to be feared, while Zama Zama could also have a say if in the right mood.

Rather hit-and-miss since landing a Newton Abbot novice event on Rules debut last spring. However, effort on penultimate start at Ludlow was solid and she's not without hope on debut for new yard.

Successful between the flags in November, but he's failed to deliver in 4 starts under Rules to date.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT COWBOY is forced to carry the burden of top weight but the six-year-old looks to have the best form on offer and he looks sure to go well once more. The six-year-old appeared to relish this trip when second at Doncaster last time out and a repeat might be good enough. Milord is a consistent type who should be thereabouts, while Plan Again has a first-time tongue-tie and receives the services of the in-form Noel Fehily.

Verdict

LADY OF LONGSTONE's recent form figures are not inspiring at first glance, but she's largely been plying her trade in stronger races than this and, now 3 lb below her last winning mark, David Pipe's charge is worth chancing here. Plan Again's well-being has to be taken on trust back from a 22-month layoff, therefore Milord and Midnight Cowboy rate the main dangers.
