Promising type. Stepped up on debut when second of 8 in novice at Chepstow (1m, good to firm, 15/2) 22 days ago. Open to further progress.

Verdict

ADDIS ABABA improved for the step up to 1m1f when second at Ayr and rates the one to beat if he can run to a similar level of form now reverting to a mile. Extra Large is entitled to build on his debut fourth at Chelmsford and take closer now he has the benefit of that initial experience under his belt. Another with strong place prospects is Sweet Lady Rose, who took a forward step when runner-up in a novice contest at Chepstow latest.

Verdict

ADDIS ABABA has reached a pretty useful level after only 2 starts and gets the nod to land a second win. Sweet Lady Rose should build on her recent reappearance third at Chepstow and may provide the main threat ahead of the William Haggas-trained Extra Large.

Verdict

SEEBRING outran odds of 50-1 to finish a four-length runner-up over this trip at Nottingham last time and is expected to be thereabouts now turned out off the same mark. Mossy's Lodge is fitted with a first-time visor after finishing a creditable fourth over 7f at Yarmouth last time and could feasibly play a minor role, while C&D winner Gaelic Wizard and the admirably consistent Monarch Maid are others to consider.

Verdict

By no means a deep race for the grade despite the field size. SEEBRING put in a good shift when second at Nottingham last month so perhaps he's the answer, with long-standing maiden Supreme Power and Monarch Maid a couple of threats.

Yet to build on reappearance fourth at Redcar but given a chance by handicapper and yard is showing more positive signs now.

Verdict

HELIOBLU BARELIERE stayed on well when fourth in a deep novice race at Nottingham last month and looks worth following on his handicap debut now upped in distance on the Flat for the first time. The five-year-old looks nicely treated off a mark of 68 and might have too much for Cornborough, who is nicely drawn in stall one, and Tan Arabiq, who was an excellent third over this course and distance on his penultimate effort on similar ground.

Verdict

In a race full of largely exposed sorts the one who stands out is VISION CLEAR. Ed Dunlop's charge shaped nicely when second on his reappearance in a race which has worked out well and didn't get home over 14f at Haydock since. This 2f shorter trip should see him in a better light and he's preferred to Tan Arabiq and Swansway who both arrive on the back of creditable efforts.

Thrice-raced maiden. 7/1, 21 lengths last of 8 to Sharp Style in minor event at Windsor (5.1f, good) 17 days ago, eased down.

Verdict

Sharp Style did it well on debut at Windsor last time but the form looks ordinary and he has a penalty to carry as a result, while Red Hot Fusion also has more weight to carry due to being a four-year-old. Darling Darcy has showed mild promise in two career starts, but it might be worth taking a chance on PENWOOD, who was behind Sharp Style in third last month and could reverse the form under these new weight terms.

Verdict

PENWOOD is 7 lb better off with Sharp Style for a length defeat at Windsor last time and that could be enough to tip things in the favour of Joseph Tuite's charge on this occasion. Recent Bath runner-up Sparkalex may prove best of the remainder.

Limited impact in nurseries last autumn and likely best watched on rather belated return.

Verdict

ADMIRAL ROOKE couldn't capitalise on his favouritism and relatively weak opposition when just touched off at Hamilton last month, but perhaps faster ground and a stronger gallop will help the three-year-old to a first success today. He could be the type to go on a run of form when everything clicks and can account for Ventura Gold, who never settled at Nottingham 10 days ago, and Make Me, who looks open to plenty of improvement.

Verdict

ALIENTO goes off the same mark as when runner-up at Pontefract last week and looks the most solid option. Ventura Gold is respected as a dual previous winner, while this represents a drop in grade for Mick Appleby's Jackpot Royale after a respectable effort in better company at Newmarket last time.

Verdict

A chance can be taken with the handicap debutant CASCELLA, who put in a career-best effort on her debut for this yard at Hamilton recently. Based on that run an opening mark of 59 should be workable, especially as she may still have more improvement to come. Arabian Jazz is another who brings decent form to the table and she could prove to be the main threat, ahead of Forever A Lady.

Verdict

CASCELLA caught the eye on her Hamilton stable debut recently and appeals as a likely improver now handicapping back up in distance. Twilight didn't feature on her AW handicap bow but the fact she was backed into favouritism suggests connections think she's capable of doing something from her lowly mark. Rosy Ryan should be sharper with her reappearance behind her and also makes the shortlist.

Two wins last year but below par so far in 2018. 4 lb out of the handicap here.

Verdict

MONT ROYAL made an encouraging return to the Flat at Doncaster late last month and that form gives him a big shout in a race of this nature. Cray has been a bit disappointing in his last couple of starts but he has some good form to his name and it is far too soon to be writing him off. Dalshand and Saved By The Bell are others to consider.

Verdict

MONT ROYAL was back on song when third at Doncaster last time and it might be worth chancing his stamina up in trip. Cray has disappointed in his last couple of starts but is well handicapped if a first-time tongue strap has a positive effect.
