Already showing an aptitude for the job over hurdles even if only running to a modest level of form, taking a strong hold.

Verdict

This race looks set to be dominated by BOMBER COMMAND, Major Davis and Nampararoo who all finished second when last seen. The preference is for the Tom George-trained given that he has looked to be a winner waiting to happen in his last couple of starts. Major Davis has bumped into two useful performers in his last couple of appearances, while Nampararoo remains unexposed.

Verdict

BOMBER COMMAND ran his best race over hurdles in a C&D event last month and could open his account if bouncing back to form now. Major Davis remains unexposed, while Truckers Tangle has found a winnable race on his first go in this sphere.

Dual Flat winner who readily surpassed initial hurdles form when runner-up in a condition jockeys' event at Fontwell (21.6f) recently. In good hands and a repeat should see her in the mix.

Verdict

WILLYEGOLASSIEGO put in a career best effort over hurdles when a narrow second at Fontwell earlier in the month and she is the one to beat this afternoon, despite a 2lb rise in the ratings. At the other end of the weights, Miss Fleming warrants respect on her handicap debut today, while Midnight Gypsy and Roja Dove are others with valid claims in a moderate heat.

Verdict

MIDNIGHT GYPSY was going the right way over hurdles late last year, and it's feasible to think she will come on for last month's Stratford return, so she could be worth chancing what looks a feasible mark. Willyegolassiego showed her first form in this sphere at Fontwell recently and along with handicap debutante Miss Fleming, heads up the dangers.

Fair maiden on the Flat in France, but little impact over hurdles since joining this yard. Drops into a seller fitted with a visor now.

Verdict

At these weights it is hard to oppose SAND BLAST, who showed promise in novice hurdles last season and his last run can be forgiven because he did not appear to take to fences. King Muro only has 2lb to find with the selection based on official ratings but he has not been in the best of form recently. Newstart is clearly the pick of the remainder given that the other two have plenty to find.

Verdict

Hard to make a solid case for any but KING MURO sets the standard on the pick of his winning hurdles form a few years back and wouldn't need to run to his best to come out on top dropped into a seller. Sand Blast is the obvious danger for the red-hot Dan Skelton yard.

Was in the process of bettering his chasing debut effort when departing late on at Bangor a fortnight ago, booked for second place at worst. Big chance if none the worse for that spill.

Verdict

PETROU has taken a big step forward since joining Dan Skelton's yard, winning on all three starts over hurdles, and he looks to exploit a 15lb lower mark over fences this afternoon. Fair To Middling is not the most prolific of winners but he is more than capable of running into a place in a race of this nature. Similar comments also apply to Very Extravagant and River Of Intrigue.

Verdict

ZOLFO was booked for second at worst when falling late on at Bangor a fortnight ago, and providing he's none the worse after that he can open his account off the same mark over this longer trip here. All 4 of his rivals could make up into useful chasers, particularly Petrou, who is unbeaten in 3 runs over hurdles for Dan Skelton.

Improved since handicapping, winning twice at Towcester up to 3m in the autumn. Both efforts since disappointing, possibly amiss given how unresponsive he was to pressure at Stratford last month.

Verdict

Jonjo O'Neill's TERRY THE FISH was a likeable winner over track and trip last time and is expected to go close once again here now from a 7lb higher mark. Zephyr wasn't far away last time and is respected, while a chance is given to Get Home Now who has been not disgraced over shorter and steps up in trip now. Dr Newland's Supreme Steel is also considered on his first start for the handler and Sam Twiston-Davies is booked to ride.

Verdict

The Newland yard have a good record with new recruits so Thurles winner SUPREME STEEL could be worth chancing to make it first time lucky with Sam Twiston-Davies aboard. Terry The Fish who ran his best race when scoring over C&D latest can emerge as the chief danger.

Different proposition when easily making winning start for new trainer David Bridgwater at Fontwell (25.5f) last week. This a stronger race but still expected to take a bit of stopping.

Verdict

Nigel Hawke's Calin Du Brizais comes here on a hat-trick bid but has a much tougher task on his plate this time having been hit with an 11lb rise from the assessor. Schindler's Prince scored over track and trip last time and is sure to be popular along with the Donald McCain improver Valleyofmilan. However, it may be best to side with the Jonjo O'Neill pair who look to have solid claims. Bronco Billy is respected off the same mark as his latest victory but LOST LEGEND had been threatening to return to form if you can forgive his latest effort, and with his claiming jockey's 5lb allowance added into the equation, is 27lb lower than when last winning mark.

Verdict

CALIN DU BRIZAIS has more on his plate up another 11 lb but is clearly at the top of his game at present and is taken to complete the hat-trick. Bronco Billy won a very weak race last time but has been left on the same mark so is next best ahead of Schindler's Prince.

Verdict

LIME STREET wasn't far behind in third at Hexham last time and the son of Presenting makes his first start for Peter Bowen off the same handicap mark which makes him of serious interest in this. Ronnie Lawson faltered on his first start for Tim Vaughan at Ffos Las but is a three-thime point winner and can get involved if rediscovering that form, while Kings Temptation can also get involved.

Verdict

KINGS TEMPTATION hasn't been knocked about in a trio of maiden/novice hurdles and he could take a big step forward now upped in trip and pitched into a handicap. As such, the 5-y-o is worth chancing here. Lime Street boasts solid claims on the back of his last 2 efforts and Star Trouper, who shaped as though this stiffer test will be right up his street, is also on the shortlist.
