Won Uttoxeter bumper on debut in July (second very wayward), but has disappointed since, including over hurdles.

Verdict

A race that has been won by the likes of Menorah, Garde La Victoire and Yanworth in recent years. The latter was the start of a hat-trick of victories in this contest for Alan King and he is represented this year by HARAMBE, who was brought down at the first on his hurdles debut earlier in the month. The five-year-old filled third place in a Grade 2 bumper at Aintree in April and that form is more than good enough to win a race of this nature. My Mate Mark returned from a 594-day break to fill second place at Bangor last month and he is fully entitled to improve for that. Laughing Luis is another who merits consideration in an interesting contest.

Verdict

Alan King usually unleashes a useful novice in this, and HARAMBE could be another one in the hope he's none the worse for an unfortunate experience on recent hurdles debut. My Mate Mark made a very encouraging return to the track at Bangor and is feared, while Laughing Luis will surely cast aside a tame effort at Fakenham.

Shaped well again on handicap hurdle debut at Taunton (19f) last week and quickly has attentions switched to chasing.

Verdict

MARIENSTAR has won both of her starts so far this season in impressive fashion and that includes her 22-length victory at Kempton nine days ago. She has to carry a 7lb penalty for that success but that still leaves her 7lb well-in and the seven-year-old is very hard to oppose. Pulling Power could prove to be the biggest threat based on her recent Uttoxeter victory, although Blackdown Hills should not be underestimated.

Verdict

A case can be made for all six, but PULLING POWER gets the vote after her all-the-way win at Uttoxeter. She's up 5 lb but can do even better over fences. The hat-trick-seeking Marienstar is next on the shortlist ahead of Drops of Jupitor.

Took 6 attempts to get off the mark in Irish points and she was well beaten on Rules/hurdling debut at Plumpton earlier this month.

Verdict

Biddy The Boss is an interesting Irish raider and she clearly sets the standard based on previous hurdles form, although the nod goes to MILLARVILLE. The daughter of Court Cave bolted up in an Irish point-to-point in January and connections had to part with 52,000 to purchase her the following month. She Mite Bite was another impressive winner between the flags earlier in the year, while similar comments apply to Ballybough Nora.

Verdict

SHE MITE BITE, a point winner back in the spring, makes plenty of appeal starting out for a leading yard and could be the way to go without the benefit of market clues. Biddy The Boss has the benefit of plenty of experience and will attempt to make that count, whilst Millarville is another interesting recruit from the pointing field.

Of little account.

Of little account.

Verdict

Sussex Road comes here bidding for more place money, and that should leave a straight duel between Paul Nicholls' Djingle and Nicky Henderson's PACIFIC DE BAUNE. The former showed promise in France in 2017 but looked laboured on his UK debut in February and has a few questions to answer. The selection has had a wind operation since last seen finishing second at Fakenham in April, but he previously won a maiden and novice event over hurdles beating some smart types and likely has more to offer now tackling the larger obstacles.

Verdict

PACIFIC DE BAUNE and Djingle are quite closely matched on hurdling form but the first-named has less to prove having run well when last seen 7 months ago, so he takes preference in what should turn out to be a match.

Ffos Las maiden hurdle winner in 2016 and posted his best effort since when runner-up at Leicester in January. Well below par subsequently, including on debut for this yard last time. Blinkers go on.

Verdict

ERICK LE ROUGE caught the eye on handicap debut at Sandown in March and made a winning reappearance at Bangor last month, quickening up well on the turn for home before putting the opposition to the sword. The four-year-old remains unexposed and a 7lb rise doesn't look too harsh. Malachite looked in need of the outing on his Cheltenham reappearance four weeks ago and should do better, while Santiago de Cuba needs a betting check on stable bow for Jonjo O'Neill.

Verdict

MALACHITE is likely to be all the better for his Cheltenham return and should have more to offer this season after just 3 hurdle starts. Last-time-out scorers Erick Le Rouge and Outcrop remain exposed and are feared most.

Smart chaser at best but had a bad experience at Cheltenham 2 years ago and well held both subsequent starts that season. Off 19 months but potentially on a good mark.

Smart chaser at best but had a bad experience at Cheltenham 2 years ago and well held both subsequent starts that season. Off 19 months but potentially on a good mark.

Verdict

Le Reve is capable of going well fresh, but a 571-day break is long enough and Lucy Wadham's charge didn't show much when last seen in the spring of 2017. Beat That is a 10-year-old now and has never really fulfilled his early potential, and he has 11 lengths to make up on EXITAS from when the pair met at Aintree last month. The son of Exit To Nowhere seems to be getting better despite his advancing years and can take this en route to the Veterans' Chase Series final at Sandown in January.

Verdict

EXITAS had plenty in hand when seeing off Beat That at Aintree last month so is taken to defy a 10 lb rise, though market support for the well-treated Le Reve on belated return would look significant.

Verdict

The presence of Barry Geraghty aboard LADY CYLLA catches the eye and Tom Lacey's charge can make a winning start to her career. Related to bumper winner Before Midnight, the three-year-old should have the pace for this and represents a very shrewd handler. Bergamot is the first foal out of a bumper winner and wasn't disgraced in this sphere at Carlisle 17 days ago, while Felicidad has shown enough to win one of these and also makes plenty of appeal.

Verdict

EYES RIGHT makes plenty of appeal starting out for a red-hot yard who have won this race in the past. Felicidad is the biggest danger ahead of Lunar Baby.
