Remains a maiden after 20 Flat runs. 20/1, eighth of 10 in handicap at Lingfield (11.6f, good to soft) 25 days ago. Others more persuasive.

Verdict

A trio of horses at the top of the handicap bid to go one better than on recent runner-up finishes. Settle Petal was beaten the furthest when just under two lengths behind at Brighton, while Tiar Na Nog missed out by half a length over C&D and Kath's Legacy was only beaten a neck at Brighton. They may all end up playing minor roles behind RIVERS OF ASIA, though, as Martin Smith's Guernsey winner shaped as though a longer trip would suit when fourth over a mile at Brighton last time.

Verdict

KATH'S LEGACY made an encouraging return to turf at Brighton last time and has the potential to build on that having been competitive off higher marks earlier in her career. Biotic is another who is well treated on old form and will likely do better with his reappearance behind him, while Tiar Na Nog was a good second over C&D last time.

Verdict

IMPLICIT followed up an encouraging third on debut by filling the runner-up spot at Nottingham last time and can go one better again here. Nananita was well beaten on her debut here but showed tremendous improvement to be third last time, while Improvising showed some improvement to turn a fifth at Kempton into a fourth at Nottingham last time. Nefarious could be the pick of the newcomers.

Verdict

The form of IMPROVISING's Nottingham fourth has received a few boosts since and she's narrowly preferred to Kempton third Oona and James Tate's Implicit in a race which could revolve around those 3 unless the market speaks in the favour of some of the newcomers.

Thrice-raced maiden. Blinkered first time, eighth of 13 in seller at Goodwood (5f, good) 8 days ago. Up in trip.

Verdict

WOLF HUNTER charged home for third in a similar grade over 5f at Goodwood last time, so the step up to this trip is expected to suit and first-time blinkers could provide an even greater spark. Irene's Prince has a couple of solid efforts to his name and could be a big player in this, while Blasim has every chance on her all-weather form, but her sole start on turf ended in a heavy defeat here.

Verdict

WOLF HUNTER should be suited by the step up in trip based on the way he finished off at Goodwood last time and can come good in first-time blinkers. Irene's Prince is another who should be at home over 6f and rates a threat dropping into a seller for the first time, while Knockabout Queen is also respected for Mick Channon.

Verdict

TITUS SECRET returned from 10 months off the track to land the spoils at Brighton last time. Malcolm Saunders has given the six-year-old three weeks to recover from that effort and he could go in again despite a 3lb higher mark. Field Of Vision missed out by a nose at Chepstow last time and has claims off just 2lb higher, while Blitz, well held in Listed company at Bath on her return, won on her last visit to this track.

Verdict

SIX STRINGS turned in his best effort of the year when third in a big field at Kempton last week and might be capable of resuming winning ways back sprinting. Titus Secret has a happy habit of pulling out a bit more and should go well again, while northern raider Liberatum was back on song when third on AW last time and is a former course scorer.

Verdict

This could be between a pair of last-time-out winners, with SIR PLATO narrowly preferred over Secret Return. The last-named was certainly not winning out of turn at Leicester last time but is up 5lb for that success, whereas the selection has only been raised 3lb for his Bath win and is still 2lb lower than when successful over C&D last year. Kingston Kurrajong also won last time and has claims off the same mark as that Kempton success.

Verdict

KINGSTON KURRAJONG escapes a penalty for last week's Kempton apprentice success so could take a bit of stopping. Secret Return is progressing nicely and rates an obvious threat, while Sir Plato's front-running style lends itself to this venue and he should go well on the back of his Bath win.

Verdict

BLACK MEDUSA seems to be getting better with every run, as shown by his recent fourth over a mile here where he looked outpaced before running on well. Paul Cole's charge is taken to get the better of Show Of Force, who was a good second two starts ago but was weak in the finish at Doncaster last time. Handicap debutant Vanity Vanity is in with a shout, along with Bajan Gold, who should come on for his reappearance.

Verdict

Alan King has been among the Flat winners in recent days and it might be worth giving SEABOROUGH a chance to atone for a slightly disappointing run at Haydock last time as he'd shaped quite nicely when second on his reappearance prior to that. Bajan Gold will be a threat if getting back to the level he showed on his final 2-y-o start, while Vanity Vanity also merits respect switching to handicaps.

Verdict

The Coolmore-owned Department Of War won on debut but has struggled in a couple of races since, while Godolphin's Fitzsimmons was beaten a fair way into third at Lingfield on debut so will need to step up. ROCK EAGLE gets the vote, as he won with a bit up his sleeve on debut over C&D in April and had some decent operators behind when missing out by a head at Salisbury last time.

Verdict

ROCK EAGLE has quickly reached a useful level and this looks a good chance for him to add to his C&D debut win in April. Fellow previous winner Department of War performed below expectations at Ripon last time but remains with potential and could still be the one to give Ralph Beckett's charge most to do unless the well-bred newcomer Jaquar turns out to be well above average.
