Verdict

THE BRITISH LION improved for the switch to the all-weather at the back end of last year and Mark Johnston's colt is sure to have plenty more up his sleave as he makes the jump into handicap company now. Hard Graft landed the spoils at Southwell last time but has an extra 7lb to shoulder now, while Swissal must be considered having not been out of the top two on his last three outings.

Verdict

PAPA STOUR was unable to justify market support on his first start for Andrew Balding at Newcastle last month, finding less than looked likely having travelled well. However, he raced on the opposite flank to where the action unfolded, and dropping back in trip, he's worth another chance, Recent Southwell scorer Hard Graft and Swissal rate the main dangers.

Verdict

PROGRESSIVE JAZZ has been kept busy on the all-weather of late and the Red Jazz gelding can leave his latest effort behind and return to his consistent best here. He can land this open contest ahead of Freebe Rocks, who despite being a valid alternative looks to have plenty on his plate racing from the top of the handicap. Jamie Osborne saddles two with solid claims in Dashing Dusty and Trick Shot Jenny, who still remains feasibly treated just 2lb higher than when last winning.

Verdict

This looks distinctly trappy with most arriving with something to prove. AUTHENTIC ART on the other hand arrives having seemingly been brought along with handicaps in mind and could be worth chancing without the benefit of market clues. Freebe Rocks and Progressive Jazz are a couple of others to consider.

Verdict

DIAGNOSTIC has not been out of the top two on all four of her starts and the Dutch Art filly arrives here unbeaten in three as she looks to keep her winning run going. The return to seven furlongs should hold no issues and the Cheveley Park four-year-old can account for Marco Botti's Raven's Lady at the finish, with that rival needing to bounce back to the form she showed last summer. Summer Icon ran with credit throughout 2017 and she's another to note.

Verdict

DIAGNOSTIC is a low-mileage 4-y-o on an upwardly mobile curve, running to a decidedly useful level when completing a quick-fire hat-trick at Chelmsford in November. She can make it 4 wins on the spin, with Summer Icon possibly representing the chief threat on account of her solid exploits at around this trip of late.

€38,000 foal, 40,000 gns yearling, Acclamation filly. Half-sister to 8.4f/8.6f winner Rinaria. Market should reveal relative expectations ahead of racecourse debut.

Verdict

Roger Charlton's BREATHLESS TIMES knocked on the door at Kempton on his racecourse debut and the Bated Breath colt can go one better here having kept to his task well that day showing plenty of promise. Newcomers Wide Acclaim and Daze Out are worth a market check, however, the main danger looks to be Kingofmerrows, who possesses a wealth of experience and is used to getting involved at the business end.

Verdict

BREATHLESS TIMES, a €150,000 breeze-up purchase, shaped with plenty of promise on his debut at Kempton last month, staying on well to take second over this trip. He looks sure to progress and can make it second time lucky. Global Pass may well emerge as the chief threat, whilst Kingofmerrows should give it his best shot again.

Verdict

BILLYOAKES won at Lingfield two starts ago and he was beaten by less than two lengths at the same venue on New Year's Eve. Pulsating has run well in all three starts since joining this yard and she should be in the mix once again. Jack Blane was successful over C&D last time out and has an obvious chance from just 2lb higher in the ratings.

Verdict

PULSATING failed to meet market expectations after a bad start last time, but she remains more interesting than most at this level and is still on a good mark if getting out of the stalls okay. Last-time-out winners Herm and Jack Blane head the dangers, in that order.

Verdict

Hisar is likely to be popular after scoring over this C&D last time out and should have his say again, but that was his first success from 17 attempts and he is far from certain to back that up off a 4lb higher mark. Preference is for BOBBY VEE, who returned from a layoff with a very encouraging fourth at Lingfield last month, when doing well to get within a length and three-quarters of the winner from off the pace, and she should strip fitter. Pushkin Museum continues to tumble down the ratings and could be ready to pounce soon.

Verdict

BABETTE has been well backed on a few occasions for her previous yards without delivering the goods, but she remains relatively lightly raced and is interesting dropping back dramatically in trip today for her shrewd new yard. Hisar should remain competitive, while Bobby Vee is likely to be better for her recent outing.
